I've been mulling this ask over for a bit. I enjoy it's meditatively expansive scope.

I think it has to be the humble kitchen knife. As in, a knife specifically produced and balanced for processing food. It's an unambiguously conscious object, but has the aura of something ideal. It's a capital-f Formal tool. Extension of the self which separates the ought from the is. Specifically; for subsuming that processed ought into the self.

My friend Mohammed, his daughter Mona, and their whole family are currently trying to escape Gaza as the opportunity to do so presents itself again.

As time goes on and people continue to doubt the legitimacy of Gazan fundraisers, I must reaffirm that I know Mohammed personally, and have been in close communication with him for over a year. If nothing else, I can offer a picture of Mona by the tent they've been able to afford with previous donations.

I will not flatter you today… these small faces are not just another image you scroll past. These children live in a fragile tent under relentless rain and bitter cold that seeps into their tiny bodies. The crossings are closed, prices have risen again, and food has become scarce malnutrition now threatens their childhood and health.

Gaza today has become marginalized, almost erased from the world’s memory. Much of what is reported in the news does not reflect the painful reality we live here. While the world is busy with other conflicts, like the war in Iran, Gaza continues to suffer in silence cold, rain, tents barely protecting from the elements, and hunger increasing day by day.
