Death has no pity for the wicked.
He had to meet his fate with a strong heart - now that his body was beyond saving. No perfomer would let the curtain close on an empty stage.
Peering up, moisture clinging to his eyelashes blurring the haze, Wolfgang saw His Angel. Robed in black, tricone hat silhouetted against the flickering candlelight much like another ghost he knew.
A relieved smile whispered sweet nothings across his face. "Papa...? Oh how...how I've missed you"
His Angel paused, kneeling -
...why should something so divine yet so disgustingly horrid kneel before a sinner?...
- in front of his prone form. Candlelight threw shadows grotesque across their masked face. Cold, hard grey stone flecked with Caramel met his own watery blue gaze.
Why was that so familiar...?
An intake of breath grated from behind the mask and before it could speak the words to damn him to a life in Hell, Mozart scrabbled for purchase - retrieving the not yet finished Requiem from the piano.
"Bitte...mein Herr es ist nicht complet... More time, or or you..could read it! S-see if if it is to His liking..?"
To his surprise the Angel took the papers from trembling hands, slowly flicking through the pages of scribbled notes and flicks of ink.
Wolfgang found himself rambling, filling the stale air with something familiar, to calm the racing of his already dying heart. "My life it was going so well...I had everything going for me, a wife, promise of sponsors and a life of no pain.."
The Angel didn't seem to care (why would He) but he continued - the urge to lay out his sorry story to be judged immense.
"But no I had too be stubborn, forfeit any hope of love for my work, make Stanzi sick with worry and then she left. She left and I have nothing because even the notes run away from me now..."
His Angel held up a singular finger, gnarled and looking all wrong from within the glove that contained it - a signal to stop. So he did. He did and watched as the mask looked up at him once more.
With a slow shake, the papers crumpled in his hands, folding and splitting and he could see the notes dripping in ink, tinkering onto the stained floor below.
"Not...not good?" His voice trembled under the weight of a thousand stares from beneath that wretched mask.
"Yes. It is...Good." His Angel...? spoke - underlying venom piercing daggers. But it wasn't the sudden shift in demeanor Mozart noticed. It was rather the ragged breathing of the Figure as if it had swallowed God's will and was trying desperately to upheave it.
Without thinking, his ever kind soul pushed at the mask, something snapping behind the head of the angel. Two long strands fell along with the mask itself, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wept with joy.
