Smash Pic Of The Week: It's a me! A weird Wario-Pikachu hybrid thing...
Flipnote Studio 3D is pretty cool. Also super excited for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse!
Two of the game that Europe don't have yet combined in one!
Which amiibo is your favorite?
It's really cool to see which Amiibo are selling well in different regions! My search for the Rosalina Amiibo continues!
Pokemon Shuffle: Nintendo's Approach At FTP
A free Eshop game? A free pokemon eshop game? At first I thought it was too good to be true. Most eshop games come with a premium price tag so this game is quite exciting. After playing it for a while it's grown on me. It's like candy crush but with that extra pokemon touch, here's my verdict:
Basic Gameplay: At first glance, Pokemon Shuffle looks like another Candy Crush clone but once you get into it you realise it's much more than that. Each level is a pokemon battle and it 'costs' one heart to play. The battles are 'match 3 icons' puzzles with the icons being pokemon. Every time you successfully match 3 icons you do some damage to the opposing pokemon. To do this you have to swap two icons around (which accounts for 1 turn). Things are added to the battles as you progress through the game such as blocks that can be destroyed by making matches around it. You have a certain amount of turns to complete each battle and then at the end you have the chance to catch the pokemon you just battled. Each pokemon has it's own 'catchability' (how likely it is that you catch it) and then that increases depending on how many turns it took for you to defeat the pokemon.
Strategy: The thing I love most about Pokemon Shuffle is the layer of strategy. You can take up to 4 pokemon into a battle (these are the pokemon that the icons are of). Like all Pokemon games, typings come into play. If I were to match 3 squirtles (which is a water type) and I was battling a charmander (which is a fire type) then my attack would do double damage. Each pokemon also has a special power which is activated in battle. For example, a squirtle could have the power 'Power of 4' which means that if you were to make a match of 4 then you would do extra damage. There is more strategy such as items and mega-evolution and so you can really get into the strategies of the battle.
In Game Purchases: As I mentioned before, each time you enter a battle you have to use up on heart. It takes half an hour to regenerate one heart. You can purchase more hearts using gems which you can either earn in battle or purchase using real money. Personally, I'm never going to buy any gems. I'm perfectly fine with playing 5 battles then coming back a few hours later and playing another 5. To be honest, I've never really seen the point of in-game purchases like this, I'm patient. I'll just play another game for a while.
Verdict: Pokemon Shuffle is at its heart, Candy Crush. However it has that pokemon charm which gives it that extra edge. If you're like me and you're never going to bother with the in game purchases then it's a nice little free game to play from time to time.

My Amiibo Collection! I’ve got 11 in total and I’m hoping to get some more. I really want a Rosalina Amiibo but as you probably know, they don’t come cheap!
The Xenoblade cover plates are available for preorder
I’d order asap if I were you - the MM cover plates haven’t been in stock for ages and I expect the same with this
These are so cool! I'm definitely going to get them if I get a New 3DS!
No EU Release Date For Kirby And The Rainbow Curse!
If you're a big Kirby fan like me then you'll know that Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is coming out soon for Wii U. Well, not really. It's coming out soon in North America (Feb 20th to be exact) but over here in Europe we don't have a release date yet. Even worse, out timeframe is Q3/Q4 2015! Looks like we're going to have to wait.
PS: It looks like it's going to be worth the wait! I loved Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush on DS. What do you think about the whole situation?
Wow, Bayonetta 3 looks absolutely fantastic. Bayonetta’s new redesign just looks amazing!
I'm sorry but this is just too funny
I've found a really good Youtube channel that gives you some great tips for all Smash Bros. Whether you're a beginner or an expert I'm sure you'll find some of them useful
Hyrule Warriors + Favourite Characters [2/3]: Lana the White Sorceress
Lana's my favourite character in Hyrule Warriors. Who's yours?
If Flipnote 3D isn't region locked, and you haven't been given one, I have an extra code you can have.
That's really kind of you but unfortunately it's region locked. Thanks for the offer anyway!
Lego Luigi
I'd never be able to this I'm terrible at making lego things!
Who was your starter in X/Y? Mine was Chespin
The Ongoing 'Battle' Between NOA & NOE
You hear it time and time again when it comes to video games: 'Oh *insert region here* are so lucky, they're getting *insert game here* before us!' or even in some cases: '*insert region here* is getting *insert game here* and we aren't*. It's pretty common nowadays. It's come to my attention that this is happening between America and Europe, sometimes America is the one that's better off, sometimes it's Europe.
Club Nintendo: It's no secret that Club Nintendo in America was MUCH better than Club Nintendo in Europe. By, a LOT. In America, you could get some free games and some physical items whereas here in Europe we were left with just the physical items and the selection of items were terrible. I have gotten a few decent things in the past but the Americas definitely had it better. And now of course Club Nintendo is closing down. In America they can redeem a free gift because of this, Flipnote Studio 3D. What do we get? Nothing.
New 3DS: In case you didn't know, you can't change the faceplates on the New 3DS XL but you can on the New 3DS. Lots of people therefore prefer the New 3DS. However in America it was revealed that they will be getting only the New 3DS XL and not the New 3DS. However here in Europe we get both! Hooray!
Amiibo: Nintendo are having problems because lots of Amiibo are selling out. Not really a problem for Nintendo because they're getting lots of money but a problem for the people buying them, like me. Europe are having problems but America are having worse problems. Part of it is because some of them are exclusive to certain stores in the US. For example, the Lucario amiibo is exclusive to Toys R Us. Meanwhile in Europe there is no story exclusivity. (But it's still impossible to find a Rosalina amiibo grrrrr)
Of course there are other things such as Europe and America having different release dates but these are the main current issues (I really want that Flipnote Studio 3D!). Who do you think has it better off?
The Legend of Zelda main shields (1986-2013)
Many of these shields appear in different games, with various designs. I picked the main ones (almost all of them, except some from minigames or non-cannon games) with designs from different games. Credit of some of the artitstic representations used here (mainly the ones from 2D games or games without artbooks) belong to BLUEamnesiac.
Do you have a favourite shield? Mine is the mirror shield from OOT
Nintendo Anime Channel
Big news everyone! Nintendo Anime Channel is out on the 3DS shop! It's free! Free anime! Well sort of... You see, I got very excited when I heard about this application and then I looked into it and found it it's Nintendo anime only. I don't know why I thought it would be anything else in the first place but hey-ho I did. Right now you can stream 'Kirby Right Back At Ya' (which is delightfully childish by the way) 'Pokemon Advance' (which is well, Pokemon) and 'Inazuma Eleven' (which is a football anime). So it's not quite Attack On Titan or HunterXHunter but it's still a good download anyway. And who knows, maybe in the future it'll have a Smash Bros anime like that Palutena reveal trailer for SSB4. Only time will tell!
New Nintendo 3DS XL - New is Good: The C-Stick
These adverts for the New 3DS are really strange but for some reason are really good. I like them!
