Therese's Sigh

After listening through Re:mind I realized that there is a big parallel between Therese's Sigh and another song in the album.

Nostalgia Junk Food is a song all about C-na and how she traps herself in the media she consumes, liking it to junk food. She has been shutting herself away from everyone else and seems to dread the coming of the next day up until someone appears at the end and pulls her out of her depressive rhythm.

Therese's Sigh is a song all about E-ki and how he kept reaching out to a girl in a depressive loop. Therese is a girl that didn't have anyone to listen to her and shuts everything from herself. But, throughout the song E-ki reaches out to Therese several times until he manages to break Therese's depressive rhythm.

Therese and C-na are described very similarly to one another. They aren't described in the exact same way, but the differences between C-na and Therese mostly could be the difference between C-na's internal perspective and E-ki's external perspective of C-na.

The main thing that feels off with this explanation/parallel of Therese's Sigh is that Therese isn't described as someone who focuses on media heavily which would be odd for E-ki to leave out given how important media is to C-na. However that could be an act of The Narrator to prevent us from connecting the dots that E-ki's talking about C-na too easily. And while we don't see much heavy emphasis on E-ki and C-na... we also don't see too much emphasis between A-no and C-na and D-suke and E-ki either and they have confirmed relationship songs. When a single character song references another character it's usually some sort of plot point and it could be that later on we would see E-ki and C-na have this bigger interaction if the series wasn't cut short.

(also i don't necessarily think Therese is literally C-na, just that Therese fills C-na's role to E-ki. but who knows, it could be literal, and C-na's actual name is Therese.)

Sometimes, I miss the age of Vocaloid which I dub the “chuunibyo age”.

I’m talking Kagerou Project, Heisei Project, Girls Labratory, Mikagura School Suite, Shuuen No Shiori, hell even the Brain Fluid Explosion Girl series.

I miss the songs that had a slightly connected storyline and the most insane music beats ever. I miss the character references to other songs and the exciting worlds these artists came up with.

Nowadays, it feels like Honeyworks and Tuyu are the only ones doing this “storyline” type songs which is… fine. But it’s definitely less chuunibyo angst and more real life, my life sucks, I hate social media, can apply to any age type angst. Which is… also fine. I mean, Mikagura School Suite did some of that too.

It’s just… I miss the tension and the confusion that came from songs like Konoha’s State of World. The insane drums from The Secret Dealer of District Four. The feeling of being cut from gravity itself in the final lines of Izayoi Seeing. Perhaps, I just miss when Vocaloids were used and you could tell they weren’t people but that was okay. Because even in their obvious robotic voices, something felt real.

I just… I miss when we could be angsty chuunibyos. That’s it.

five years later

Thank you so much, and I'm so sorry for the delay! I kind of forgot about this blog until really recently, when I ran into some ShuuenPro cosplayers at an anime convention haha. Here are some general headcanons for our fave resident rumor maker!

General Dating HCs for A-ya (GN!)

First off, please prepare yourself to hear some outlandish shit about yourself. You thought just because you're dating A-ya, he'll spare you from his mischief? LOL. If anything, it might be even more annoying. A-ya loves your reactions, but at least it's never anything serious!

Also, uhhhh, GL with C-ta lmfao. He's acting sweet, but if you can see through that facade, it's game on. He is not having it.

Bring it to A-ya's attention, he'll probably brush it off as C-ta being C-ta, so long as the brunet doesn't do anything sus.

Dates are going to be super lowkey. He gets weird vibes at his own house a lot, so he'll probably be over at your place rather his own. Expect movie marathons going late into the next day.

Probably a fan of the terrible B-rated movies. I'm talking Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Critters, Rubber, The Gingerdead Man... Bonus points if you still get scared. He thinks it's cute.

Please help A-ya get a healthier sleep schedule. He needs it.

NOT a fan of PDA. Like, at all. He's more than happy to give affection in private, though! Might hold your hand or allow you to lean on him during club activities, but that's really about it.

Not super possessive, either. Out of the five Occult Club members, he's probably the most chill S/O, almost tying with E-noru.

When the game is going on, he's going to be worrying over you and wanting to stay at your house. It may be the first time you see him worried, honestly.

A-ya's... Not super expressive. You'll have to learn to read between the lines with his words and actions. He does care for you, but doesn't always express it well.

If you two sleep together, he is not a big cuddler in bed. Chances are, he's going to be up wayyy longer than you, anyways, but he's okay with holding your hand as you sleep. He just needs his space when he's sleeping himself.

In general, not a super cuddly boy, but will give you cuddles in private if you pester him enough.

In terms of the type of S/O A-ya might prefer, definitely somebody who reacts well to his shenanigans. He finds your reactions interesting, as long as it's not too dramatic, because then it just gives him a headache.

Would like a chill S/O, and probably doesn't care whether you're introverted or extroverted so long as you don't force him out of his comfort zone.

Love language is quality time and acts of service. He's not good at gift giving, clearly not affectionate, and his words tend to be barbed. Probably loves receiving quality time and words of affirmation though :)

Weird connections between Film Club and Occult Club

There's an obvious amount of focus between the parallels between the clubs when talking about letters and actors. However, I just noticed some parallels made between the two clubs that fit along a different axis.

The "Film/Occult Same-Letter's Friend" pairing.

What I mean is A-no links to A-ya, but this parallel applies to A-ya's friend C-ta.

A-no has C-ta's odd taste in what's cute (the Motreevational charm)

The parallels I've noticed under this relation include:

C-na has B-ko's interest in horror

D-suke has A-ya's taste for rumors (his song is the Secret Dealer and focuses on rumors)

However, I haven't found what B-ka's and D-ne's parallel is. The parallels seem to be in taste/interests. If this pattern holds, we could look at D-ne's interests and determine something about B-ka. D-ne's only expressed interests are wanting to be like those she loves and the feeling of putting people down. So,, Is B-ka the same way somehow? Does he just hide it? Or does he break this pattern, just like how he's the only person beside E-ki and E-noru to break patterns in Ante's Parallel chart?

I don't know how or if this parallel can apply to E-ki and E-noru.
