i swear to god translators deserve their own nobel prize like they are literally doing godโs work and the fact that theyโre never even CONSIDERED is justโฆGOD, it is soย frustrating !
iโm begging you to name one thing more iconic than tirelessly passing the flame from one culture & generation to another out of nothing but SHEER LOVE for that culture, that generation, those words and that language. name one writer who has done as much for literature as the countless translators labouring over and over for months and even years on end to bring their words to as many people as possible because they love them THAT much โ because they feel such joy and such a profound sense of connection and the first thing they decided to do was to want others to feel it THAT MUCH โ because more than anything literature and art matters THAT much. it is the single biggest labour of love & devotion in any literary field and embodies ENTIRELY what the whole point of literature even is to begin with and yes this is the hill i will die on
forreal though not every trans or genderqueer person redacts their whole life once they realize their gender. theย โi always knew i was a boy/girl, i was never ever the gender assigned to me at birth, not at all, not in any wayโ narrative is very true for some people, but that storyโs positioning as the only correct non-transphobic way to describe trans peopleโs lived experiences silences a lot of people who have very different (and less simple and convenient) journeys to their final identity.
some men were girls. some women were boys. thatโs how they feel and itโs important to me that theyโre respected for it and not scolded for telling the stories of their lives wrong just because other people canโt (or donโt want to) relate. there are so many different ways to grow up trans and to be trans, that someoneโs life is always going to be totally alien to someone else, a total contradiction to their own experiences.ย
that should be okay. we should all be okay with it. no one narrative about any group of people should be the very definition of all of those people.ย activism needs to respect diversity of peopleโs lives, stories, and agency, or itโs just more useless shouting at people who have enough to fucking deal with already.ย

HE GOT BICURIOUS IN THE TIMELOOP !!!
I love it when stories make no sense. I love to have plotholes to stick my hands into or mend with headcanons. I love convoluted plots. I love lore that is incomprehensible from the outside. I love media that is so hard to get into you have to consult fanmade resources to even get started. Most of all i love piracy
Homestuck: insane amounts of lore, time AND dimension AND timeline AND narrative fuckery, has to be read on a fanmade archive program because the site has decayed that much. As for games, There's Hiveswap, Hiveswap 2, Hiveswap: Friendsim, and Pesterquest. Hauntswitch is still in development. Don't forget The Non-Canon Paradox Space comics, The Epilouges, and Homestuck^2, which is still updating. We don't talk about the Skaianet arg
Marvel comics: you could have a subscription that lets you read everything online, but marvel itself won't give you reading guides. You'll have to go to comic book herald to get guides for chatching up on decades of branching storylines and before you know it you're reading 2006 x-men to understand 2008 guardians of the galaxy. Some comics aren't even good at all but are required reading for plot purposes.
DreamSMP: good fucking god. Insane nonensical branching plotlines, sometimes the most breathtakingly tragic minecraft roleplay of our decade, but entire important streams have gotten lost because no one archived the fucking vods. You could try BlueberryTV but it's unfinished and long. The plot was influenced by twitter polls and sometimes even tweets made by creators in character. Like 5 people on the server are sex pests and they played a huge part.
Trigun: As long as we're talking about the Animes you should be fine, but the manga has to be read from a specific fan translation (@/trigun-manga-overhaul) because the official one is bad and the other widespread fan translation is even worse and includes slurs for no reason. There's a lost media video game for the PS2 called "Planet of Gunsmoke" that got cancelled and apparently became a game called Gungrave. The manga wasn't even popular until last year.
Supernatural: relatively accessible but you have to be 5 brainrots deep to actually be able to finish it
Kagerou Project: A multimedia franchise based on a Vocaloid Series that on first glance seems to be just multiple adaptations of the same base story but are actually all unique despite all having the same backstory. Involves a big timeloop where each series of media is at least one different timeline in the loop, but the only indication there is a loop is a couple of the songs, a second timeloop nested inside the bigger timeloop, and the end of each timeline. Some media need to be seen before others for the lore to make sense but they all came out concurrently. The songs are in at least three different timelines but most of them do not say which (the assumption you're supposed to make is that unless it's obviously not, it's supposed to be in the timeline that only obviously exists in two of the ~30 songs). I think there are some official translations of some of the novels and some of the manga, but the rest is fan translated and some of the chapters of the manga are hard to find. Also the first piece of media to be completed is the last one you're supposed to watch.
Shuuen no Shiori: A more obscure Vocaloid Series multimedia thing. There are no official translations at all. There are four novels, but only two have been translated publicly. The manga fan translation swapped teams halfway through. Not all of the songs in the second album have publicly been translated, but are needed to more fully understand some characters. The manga skipped most of the second novel to try to catch up to the novels, but the series ended prematurely after the main story writer confessed to plagiarism involving music before the fifth novel came out. The manga then had to rush through most of the fourth novel and has a different ending that just randomly introduces Something at the end and it's near impossible to know anything about that thing unless you either get a novel 4 translation somehow (I have)(it doesnt reveal much about that thing) or you can understand the Japanese Voice Drama (which only has one track translated and the one that's translated isn't the one where the thing seems to more properly be explored). So unless you're really dedicated you'll just be introduced to some random thing. So like. Both media are supposed to be telling the same story but you effectively need to alternate between the two if you want to enjoy the Mystery Story the most.

it's not so weird when ppl haven't played undertale because for as normal as gaming is, from casual to intense as a hobby today, it's still just a hobby. not everyone engages with it. however if you DO game and you still haven't played undertale i'm always blown the hell away. what do you mean? it's like $10 and it's the most influential indie game of our generation! it takes less than 6 hours if you're fast about it. what?? hell, watch it, if you can't play it. this is the Age of Let's Plays
it's 2024. if fear of being "the undertale kid" still somehow grips your soul and prevents you from playing a game that's only crime was being too loved by too many people, it's time to make an effort to get over it. the funny skeletons are waiting for you dude

the cosmic horror implications of timeloops are fascinating if you actually stop to think about it. because in order to trap someone in a situation like that you'd either have to reset all of time with each loop, which suggests a staggeringly horrifying scale of power and personal pettiness, or you'd have to isolate an area of effect to keep replaying like a broken record while the rest of time continues around it, posing potentially destructive consequences for the integrity of reality itself if people and things caught in the timeloop fail to show up in the present and effect change outside of it.
also, consider what happens if the timeloop is broken unconventionally, or damaged somehow, allowing its inhabitants to escape without actually satisfying the conditions necessary to close it. would the people inside it find themselves outside the fabric of reality itself? would they be erased from existence? would they branch off into a new timeline that previously never existed but is now rushing to fill the void like water from a burst pipe? would the timeloop continue to exist even though its intended victims no longer inhabited it, forming an exclusion zone that can suck you in and contaminate you with its radioactive decay?

Finally sharing the first update of a project I've been planning for a long time!
Shuuen no Shiori 5: Conclusion Dreamelody -Re:suscitate- is my attempt to continue the story of Shuuen no Shiori from where it met its demise. I am fairly new to the Shuuen fandom and as a result I have a lot of ideas about how the story would've gone that are quite different from the fandom's current interpretations. I will try to update the fanfic semi-regularly.
This first update includes the Prologues and Chapter 1 Part 1. Who was the mysterious student that lead the Occult Club to a hospital room at the end of Book 4? (Hint, his name ends in 'noru').
I hope you enjoy the beginning of the end.
