Nix was tired and irritated. Today had gone stupidly horrific and all she wanted to do was crawl into bed. But, no. Instead she ended up bagless and, turns out, keyless. Some ass had swiped it straight off her shoulder. Only reason her phone wasn’t jacked was because it was in her pocket. Still, her eyes lit up when she saw her friend, giving a wave.
“Thank you so fucking much.” She started, opening the door and heading down the hall to the elevator. “I owe you big...bigly. Money and food.” She dragged her hair into a sloppy ponytail. “Some asshat stole my keys and wallet. I bought one of those rock things where you can hide a key but...” She crinkled her nose, “It seemed so pointless with an indoor hall.”
She stepped away from the door to give Maxine room. “I’m really sorry about this. I hope I didn’t interupt anything important. I swear, I’ll make it up to you.” She had been so busy panicking about trying to get into her home that she didn’t even double check who she was texting. God, she needed a long ass nap.
