Continuing my quest to catch up on popular music via listening to albums with singles on the Top 100:
Harry Styles’ Fine Line - I loved this album honestly. It’s soft all the way through but with a great variety of instrumentation. The lyrics are pleasantly simple, easy to digest without being vapid. I will listen again. I might actually buy this album.
I don’t listen to the radio like at all so I don’t hear billboard hits very often. I’m going through and checking out albums that have current billboard hits, working my way down from longest on the billboard. Trying to focus on what I like more than criticism, unless the criticism really stands out. Post Malone (Hollywood's Bleeding) - Sunflower is great. Most of his lyrics are pretty misogynistic; big no. He takes a lot of interesting sources of inspiration but they’re more watered down than I’d like.
Maren Morris (GIRL) - Pleasant. Vaguely reminds me of early Taylor Swift. I liked GIRL and the whole album overall has Good Vibes.
Dua Lipa (Future Nostalgia) - Good in Bed and Boys Will Be Boys have some great aesthetics, much more distinctive than the rest of the album. Reminds me a bit of Studio Killers in vocal delivery.
Trevor Daniel (Homesick) - Similar style to Post Malone, but with much more pleasant lyrics. This EP felt kind of generic to me, but I could see his later stuff being more interesting.
The Weeknd (After Hours) - Hardest to Love is really, really cool. Love how many different ideas are explored on this album while keeping a distinct sound throughout. I will probably re-listen to this later.
Joey becoming superinfluencer and saying "Let's analyze and have fun before anything bad has to happen" is iconic
Loving the reference to Ol’ Dirty Bastard in the background of The Astronomers in Turtlenecks.
RWBY Volume 8 Prediction:
RWBY gets eaten by the whale, goes on a wacky adventure inside it. Neo forsakes Cinder, teams up with Oz. Oz and Neo break Qrow out of jail and the three of them save RWBY from the whale.
I don’t know if I’ve seen a show that incorporates so many distinct fighting styles and pits them against each other in such a cool way like RWBY does.
Straight Boys by Shamir has the same energy as the Life is Strange soundtrack and now I want an mlm LiS game.
RWBY has decided to get really good like 7 seasons in but I’ll never be able to convince my friends to sit through the first three seasons before it gets halfway decently animated.
I’ve started doing the gyms with only as many pokemon as the gym leaders have. Winning because I have more pokes with me seems unsporty. It’s a lot of fun.
Hop is lowkey a dick and Bede telling him off is just funny, ngl.

Also the scenes where you sit and it shows you the place you're in while soft indie music plays and max reflects on everything that's happened? Beauty, perfection, grace.
The middle section of Life Is Strange is basically entirely about the sadness of squandering time with people you care about and it gets me every time.
