Found the coolest hike near our apartment yesterday! This was a moderate trail in Waihe’e valley on a dirt road - approximately four miles out and back. The trail is not highly frequented. Better late than never! Tyler and I did this 2-mile round trip hike this past Sunday in the POURING rain. We were ready for the challenge as we walked through the slowly flooding trail up to this roaring waterfall. We’ve never seen anything like it! Since it had been raining so hard for the past few days, we were unable to get safely close to it because the wind coming off the waterfall was whipping and completely unpredictable. Can you believe how blue this water is!? Neither could I. This was taken at Ka Iwi State Scenic Shoreline. The lighthouse you can see on the left hand side is the historic Makapu’u Lighthouse. Let’s face it, winters in New Jersey are pretty brutal. Whether it is enduring endless traffic in North Jersey or braving the cold to go to do simple tasks, it’s safe to say my inspiration dulls during these eternal months. With that being said, it’s not fictitious to assume that I love being outside in MUCH warmer weather. From Fall to Spring, I love to fill my free time hiking, and sitting at home on a cold January afternoon has me feeling very nostalgic about my adventures. My Mom has provided my brother and I over the last few years with incredible trips with thousands of miles walked. Featured here are pictures from Utah and North Carolina. In Utah, while hiking within Zebra Slot Canyon, my family met a German family that was stuck just around the same spot in the Canyon that we were. Mind you, at some points, you had to scale the canyon walls, because the floor disappeared under rock. Our family and this German family helped each other through what’s probably the most challenging hike of my life. If we all weren’t there at that same moment, I firmly believe that none of us would have made it through. Be humble, kind, and always challenge yourself!
