It's New Year's Eve, and they've somehow managed to climb to the roof with a bottle of sparkling cider and some cheap plastic champagne glasses. Zelda's dad and Link's grandpa were going to let them have some actual champagne, but they'd both decided that they'd rather have the sweeter cider instead. They while away the last hour of the year, talking, laughing, discussing new year's resolutions.
“I'm telling you, this year, I'm gonna practice until I get the hang of the theremin.”
“Hahaha, I give you thirty minutes before the whole music department begs you to stop.”
Link glares at his cheeky best friend. “If it weren't for the fact we're two stories up, I'd shove you off the roof for that.”
Zelda impudently stuck her tongue out at him. “No you wouldn't. Not even if we were just on the balcony and there was a big balloon thingy beneath us. You're too nice.” Link tries to maintain a scowl, but is ultimately unable to. She's right, he wouldn't dare ever risk hurting her. He's about to say so when she suddenly points out a pair across the street on another balcony. “Ooooh, who's that with Reina? Since when does she have a boyfriend?”
Link squints a bit. “Uh, I dunno, I think she mentioned going on a date a few weeks back.”
Zelda hums in acknowledgement. They spy on the couple for a minute more before looking away, and Zelda checks the time. Five minutes to go. They resume watching the sky, waiting for the fireworks, while Link busies himself pouring out some cider in preparation for the big moment. “Have you ever wanted to kiss someone on New Year's?” she asks, suddenly out of nowhere. Link fumbles, almost spilling the cider in his surprise.
“Uh, wh- what?” he manages to blurt out.
Zelda turns to face him again, looking surprisingly serious. “Have you ever wanted to kiss someone when the new year starts?” she repeats.
It's dark, so she can't see the furious blush that's taken over his face. Hopefully. “Um... well, it sounds like it would be nice, but... I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it.”
She has a weird look on her face; he doesn't really know what to make of it. “Well I mean... if you wanted to we could you know... you know... tradition and all...” she trailed off awkwardly.
Link's pretty sure his entire body has ceased every single one of its functions. “Uh... uh... I don't know... I...” he stammers. Does she... does she look sad? It's so brief that he isn't sure he saw that look, but he rushes to continue. “I mean, not that it would be bad or anything! That'd be really nice, I'm sure, and yeah you know, tradition, it's just... um... not really how I pictured my first kiss would go.”
Zelda's expression turns wry, and at that moment Link knows he's set himself up for a lot of embarrassment. “Oh, it's not huh? Don't tell me you had plans for your first kiss?” she teases, glancing at the clock again. Two and a half minutes.
Yes.
“No! I don't... it's not like I think about this often!”
Lies.
“I just, you know thought that it would be different, like special but not a tradition thingy, you know?”
He's planned out no less than ten different scenarios for his first kiss, the only thing all of them have in common is that it's with Zelda. Truthfully, one of them did include a New Year's kiss, but he'd resolved long ago not to kiss her unless he'd told her how he really felt. Unfortunately, that was proving to be a lot harder than he thought it would be.
“I don't know, it just... doesn't feel quite right?” he babbles, praying that she can't see how flustered and red he is.
Zelda sighs fondly. “You're such a hopeless romantic, you know that?” she teases gently. “That's ok though, girls like that you know.” she adds, eyes crinkling in a smile.
It only matters if you like it, he thinks to himself. Suddenly, a pillar of silver and gold light shoots up from the direction of the baseball field, erupting into a shower of sparkles. They can hear cheers and noisemakers from some of the other townhouses, and a band playing far off in the distance. The two friends clink their glasses together in a toast, sipping the sweet cider while they watch the fireworks display. Zelda leans against Link's shoulder, and says softly “Happy New Year, Link.”
Link turns his head, and is briefly taken aback by the way the fireworks make her eyes sparkle. After a moment spent distracted by how pretty she is, and a moment more spent deliberating, he drops his head to brush his lips against her cheek. “Happy New Year, Zelda.”
So, I’m almost done with Pokemon Moon, I’ve just gotten to the Pokemon League (or well, I’m climbing the mountain). I’m not gonna squee about the story just yet, not til I beat it (but I have FEELINGS about it all particularly of the Lillie variety). Anyways, my imagination ran away from me and I started imagining my pokemon trainer grown up and living in Alola. (I should tell you now, I plan on restarting the game and doing an all ghost types run after I beat it.)
- Somehow, my trainer winds up with every ghost type that can be found in Alola, including Lunala. (I’m playing Moon after all). Some of them are pokemon I battle with, some of them I just acquired during my travels.
- Me being me, I get super attached to all of them and play/cuddle/eat with them pretty much all the time. This is true of my non-ghost pokemon as well.
- I’m always telling everyone “They’re not scary! Mischievous yes, but they’re playful sweethearts when you get to know them.” I say this while cuddling Haunter or something while my friends give me the O.o look
- Well my ghosts get really attached to me. Like, clingy almost, and they’re admittedly spoiled XD Eventually, they just pull a Pikachu and refuse to go into their pokeballs. My battle pokemon will begrudgingly go into them when I go out and let the trial-goers challenge me, but once I’m not in trainer mode, out they pop. It’s like they have a sixth sense for that sort of thing or something.
Yay, a new page! I apologize for it’s black-and-whiteness, but as you all may remember my scanner absolutely refuses to pick up skin tone colors correctly, and it looks awful in my opinion. So unless I can rectify the scanner issues, you internet peeps are going to be stuck with black and white pages :(
But onto the page itself! I am quite proud of my windows, particularly the fact that they’re present in every panel they’re in haha. Also the bricks came out well, but I think my favorite panel so far is grumpy “why did you wake me up at three in the morning for a ridiculous text” Zelda :D
In which the nighttime shading and lighting is continued and Ariel gets a headache trying to make it work, Link and Zelda’s homes get a massive redesign that looks a million times better and makes up for lousy lighting, and we finally see exactly what Link texted Zelda on the last page.
Many thanks to one of my lifeguard friends for so kindly letting me use his iPhone and messages as a drawing reference.
Page 4. I’m really proud of this one, especially the light coming in the window and illuminating the room. I did make some mistakes though, but oh well.
*edit: Fudgenuggets I forgot to draw the scar on his shoulder. Well I remembered and did draw it but I’m too lazy to rescan and upload the page. It’ll be there in the future I promise!
Page 3. I mentioned it before, but chill out, this is a dream. Don’t panic, I wouldn’t kill off Link and Zelda in the first few pages. This isn’t Game of Thrones after all hahaha.
Page 2. Sorry Demise’s SS text got cut off at the top, but I literally tried to scan this thing at least 4 times and this was the best attempt. Also I belatedly realized how corny the “giant red hand out of nowhere” looks, but I didn’t want the entire being visible, and let’s be honest, our dreams are pretty corny in hindsight anyways. Also I don’t think this is bad enough to merit the trigger warning tag, but since I am new to this message me if you think it does.
Page 1. Poor Spirit (Link from the SS prequel manga), getting interrupted by Demise all the time. Also, I apologize that Demise’s text is hard to read, I overlapped the SS script and translated text too much. It reads “FOOLISH CHILD! Do you truly believe you can stand against me? Ha! See how I have tortured the Goddess for thousands of years! See how for millennia, I have taken from you everything that you hold dear!”
Title card for Chapter 1. Literally cut and pasted from the first iteration of the comic before the reboot (because I liked how this drawing came out and didn’t want to trash it). By the way, I drew him playing the guitar without a reference :D. Props go to John Deacon of Queen for writing such an awesome song that I borrowed the title of for this chapter.
Fancomic for the Legend of Zelda series, detailing the breaking of the curse set up in Skyward Sword. All games up through Skyward Sword are included in the comic’s “verse”, but A Link Between Worlds and newer are not due to the plot having been planned out before their release. Enjoy!
Also I don’t do scheduled updates, I’ll probably update whenever I have a full scene finished, which could be any amount of time. This comic is never on hiatus per se, I just don’t work on it on a daily basis.
Obviously, The Legend of Zelda and it’s characters, locations, plot, items, blah blah blah are copyright of Nintendo. All the characters, locations, the plot, items, blah blah blah are copyright me (nasanerd09)

“Chelsea!” Cold. Everything was so cold, hard, loud. Something told her she should be in pain, but... where was she again? She couldn't remember. There were alarms blaring, frantic conversations, cold. It was cold. She wanted to open her eyes, to investigate, but... It all felt... So far... away...
“Chelsea...” What was this? “Wake up, my dear.” My dear? She didn't know that voice. But it was warm, inviting. Chelsea began opening her eyes, although moments later screwed them shut again as blinding light assaulted them. The voice chuckled, rich and dark. “Slowly, dear.” Taking in a shaky breath, Chelsea peeked through her lashes, allowing her eyes to become accustomed to the sunlight once again.
Opening her eyes fully, she sat up, slowly, attempting to take stock of her new location. Where was she? She saw a large, open field with rolling hills, dotted with wildflowers, and a blue, sunny sky above her. In confusion, she turned to see the owner of the voice. A woman, black as night with golden hair and eyes sat next to her, fingers trailing along a golden snake wrapped around her torso. Chelsea started at the sight of the reptile, but the woman smiled at her warmly. “My friend will not harm you. He is quite gentle. How do you feel, my dear?”
“Where am I?” Chelsea croaked, voice scratchy from disuse. She had only half heard the question, still in bewilderment at her surroundings.
The woman smiled, sadly, almost. “This is the afterlife, little one, where all souls journey upon their passing.”
Chelsea gazed at her with shock, eyes wide and mouth agape. “I-” she stammered. “I- I'm... dead?”
The woman nodded in affirmation, strong hands clasping the younger girl's. “Do not fret, Chelsea. Death is but a natural part of life's cycle. Your time among the living may have passed, but you now have an eternity with which to experience all that pleases you; to rest forever in happiness and peace with the knowledge that you can no longer come to harm or illness. All is as it should be here, you are in perfect health, and all that you need will be provided to you.”
Chelsea frowned slightly at the older woman's explanation. “I suppose ugly and healthy aren't the same thing.” she thought, looking over her petite, but by no means slender frame. Deciding it might be rude to voice that particular thought aloud, she instead spoke of another concern. “It's so... empty here. Where is everyone?”
All-knowing golden eyes gazed upon her, as though the woman knew what Chelsea had been thinking. “It would be overwhelming to appear amongst the innumerable souls that have passed before you, no? Where you are now is a quiet, secluded place, so that our new arrivals can become accustomed to the notion of being dead before joining their peers.” Helping Chelsea to her feet, she gestured over the hills. “In that direction you will find more people, your home, and all things that would feel familiar to you.”
“My home?” Chelsea asked. “What do you mean by that? I don't think I know anyone here.”
The woman explained “All the departed have a place to 'live' here. You do not truly require a house, nor to eat or sleep, but such things make one feel more human, more comfortable. You will find your house is as you would want it to be. Although, sadly, there is naught I can do for the loneliness you may feel.”
Chelsea cast her gaze downwards, a small sigh escaping her lips. “That's ok. I'm used to being alone, I guess.” Her eyes again meeting the woman's, she said “Thank you, by the way. I would have been so lost without hearing what you said.”
Embracing the girl gently, the woman replied “You're welcome, child. Although it is my duty to guard and guide the departed souls of the dead, I do take pleasure in soothing their fears. I would accompany you further, but I have others who now need my attention.”
“I understand, thank you Miss- oh, I don't know your name!” Chelsea exclaimed, breaking the hug. But as she looked up, the dark woman had mysteriously disappeared. Chelsea gasped, looking around for her missing companion, face falling slightly when she could not find her. She did not have long to contemplate her loss, however, for another voice spoke from behind her.
“For someone who escorts the dead, Sahara never did manage to understand the concept of saying goodbye.” Chelsea gasped again, whirling around to identify the owner of the bright, musical voice. Her gaze fell on another young woman, who she'd say was around the same age as the dark skinned woman- who evidently was named Sahara- but yet she seemed far older and far younger at the same time. Her skin had a golden glow to it, and her thick green hair fell over her shoulder in a messy braid, adorned with ribbons and flowers and- were those butterflies?
Chelsea stared a moment longer before she stammered out a greeting to the stranger. “Uh... She... Hi?” The woman laughed, a wonderful sound like bells and sunshine, and some of her butterflies fluttered around startled before settling again in her hair. “Who... who are you?”
The woman's green and gold eyes met Chelsea's brown ones, and the girl saw that they seemed to bloom like a field of wildflowers after a spring rain. “My name isn't important, sweetie. Just know I am a friend. Now I understand you have no friends or relatives to meet here?”
Chelsea's bemusement faded once again to melancholy. “Yeah, that's right.” she said softly.
The woman smiled kindly, reaching out to take the girl's hand. “I see. Well perhaps I can help you with that.” Not waiting for a reply, she set out towards the hills, gently pulling Chelsea along behind her. Her gait was almost a skip, though Chelsea found no trouble in keeping up with her, and an invisible breeze ever stirred the woman's clothing and hair, the butterflies constantly dancing about her. Chelsea noticed for the first time as well that the woman walked barefoot, the grass appearing greener in her footsteps.
Remembering that it was rude to stare, she shook her head and replied “You can? Are you sure?”
The woman laughed again. “This is meant to be a paradise, sweetheart. It just wouldn't do to have you sitting all alone somewhere.” Glancing backwards towards her younger companion, she asked “Now, what do you enjoy doing?”
“I dunno.” Chelsea admitted. “I haven't really had any fun in a long time. I-” She drew in a sharp breath, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. She recalled long days and nights, all running together so that she could not tell where one ended and the next began, filled with pain and emptiness. Voices that laughed at her, family that chastised her, insecurity eating away at her very being. She could not remember the last time she was truly happy. She thought hard, trying to remember something that she enjoyed “I think... um... I like music I guess.”
“Ah, music. The universal language. I adore it as well, each and every genre and instrument. What sort of music do you like, Chelsea?” Said the woman, smiling brighter than the sun itself.
“I guess I like what my dad would listen to. Classic rock? And... and well- anything with piano in it, I guess. But maybe that's because I like to play. The piano, I mean.” Chelsea replied, feeling surprisingly at ease with the stranger beside her.
“Oh, you're a musician, honey? That's wonderful! I know someone, two someones actually, who would love to meet you.” Said the woman brightly, a definite spring in her step now. She turned, heading towards some mountains in the distance, pulling Chelsea behind her so that she had to jog to keep up.
“Ah!” Chelsea exclaimed, the sudden change in speed taking her by surprise. “Mee- meet someone? Oh I don't know! I'm not good with... people. I'm not that good anyways, they probably don't want to hear me- Ooof!” she cried out as she lost her footing. The woman stopped, helping the girl to her feet.
“Oh, I'm sorry dear, I got a little bit excited. And don't worry! They're very nice, you'll like Link and Ryan, and I'm sure they'll like you too. You see, they're musicians as well, they started a little rock band soon after the older brother joined the younger. They've been so needing more people to join them though, they can't possibly do it on their own!” The green haired woman started walking again, more slowly for her companion's sake.
Chelsea was still doubtful. “Me, in a rock band? I don't think so. I could never perform in front of people! I can't even talk to them.” The two had reached the mountains by now, the journey much quicker than Chelsea had anticipated.
The woman chuckled. “Hmm-hmm! Well, perhaps that's going a bit far for now. I do think you'll enjoy their company at the very least.” She lead Chelsea to what looked like a house, carved into the mountain itself. They didn't walk to the front door however, but to a flight of stairs leading to what must have been the second floor, where a second, smaller door was set into the rock. “They have their own music studio here, and don't worry, it's open to everyone.” Before Chelsea could protest, she caught the sound of a familiar song emanating from within, sung in perfect harmony by two male voices.
“Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky-”
Then suddenly, the chords were all wrong, making Chelsea wince slightly.
“Link! What the heck did you do?” said the higher voice.
“Ah! Sorry Ryan... I thought I heard something outside, I guess I must have shifted my hands over a key or two.” said the deeper voice, followed by footsteps. At this, Chelsea panicked, ready to flee when suddenly the door opened, revealing a tall boy, a bit older than her with a look of bemusement upon his face. “Oh, there's a girl here. Hello!”
“Ah... ah...” Chelsea stammered, heart hammering in her chest. “I... we... uh she was just saying...” At this the boy's face became even more confused.
He glanced around for a second, then asked “She?”
Chelsea's head whipped around, but there was no trace of the golden lady. She was all alone with the two strangers. In a panic, she involuntarily let out a high pitched squeak. “Eeep! Ah...” She once again faced the boys “I uh...” Chelsea gulped, words refusing to tumble from her mouth.
The tall boy chuckled embarrassedly, opening the door fully and gesturing for her to come in. “Ah, don't be nervous. We don't bite. Well, I don't know about Ryan, actu-” He paused his joke as he turned to his brother. “Ryan! Don't stare, that's rude!” Chelsea's gaze travelled to the younger boy, whose mouth was hanging open with the ghost of a smile on his lips. And he was, indeed staring. Chelsea felt the heat creep into her cheeks, arms wrapping around her middle.
A second later, Ryan broke into a huge grin “Oh! Sorry- you're so pretty! How'd you find us?” He asked, bouncing over to greet their guest properly.
Chelsea recoiled slightly, not knowing what to do with the excessive amounts of energy this boy had. “I, uh, well, there was a lady here, and she said that you guys liked music? And... and the piano? I play a little bit, I guess that's why she brought me here.” She shuffled her feet as she explained herself, still feeling terribly shy in the presence of the two boys. As friendly as they were, she didn't feel nearly as comfortable in their presence as she had with the two women from earlier.
“What did she look like?” asked the older boy, gently ushering Chelsea in.
“Well, she was like in her 20s I think, and she had long green hair in a braid. If I didn't know any better I'd say she was Mother Nature herself, she had so many flowers and butterflies on her that she looked like a walking garden.” she recounted, easing slowly into the room.
Recognition dawned in Link's face, evidently he had an idea of who the mystery woman was. “Ah, ok that explains a lot. Well, she was right about the music thing. Ryan and I, we were just messing around a minute ago. He wanted to figure out if we could do that song as a duet, I kinda screwed it up though, haha.” He walked towards the piano, replaying the chords from earlier- not hitting the wrong keys this time. “Ha! There we go. I hate it when I mess up something really simple, drives me nuts you know? Oh hey, you said you played?”
At this Chelsea froze again, suddenly put on the spot. “Um, yeah a little bit. I guess. I'm not that good really. I'm still learning.”
The boy smiled at her “Ryan's learning too, actually. He knows how to play the bass already, and he's a much better singer than me, but he wanted to branch out a bit, so I started teaching him.” He shrugged “It doesn't matter if you're good or not, everyone starts somewhere- I never got your name?”
Feeling more at ease with the older boy at least, Chelsea brightened up a bit. “Oh! Right, sorry about that, it's Chelsea.” she replied, extending a hand shyly.
Taking the offered hand, he shook it “It's nice to meet you! I'm Link, and this dork is my brother Ryan.” The proclaimed “dork” waved at Chelsea from behind Link's back.
“Hey, do you wanna play around with the piano? We can play with it together! Oh do you know Heart and Soul? Link just taught me that one!” Ryan said excitedly, limitless energy returning. Chelsea bit her lip, unsure of whether or not she wanted to perform just yet.
She glanced at Link for some sort of assistance, but he just chuckled and said “Go ahead, you're not taking it from me. I've been playing for hours, my hands are all cramped up now.” With that he plopped himself down on a nearby beanbag, massaging his hands for emphasis.
Chelsea shyly turned back to the smiling Ryan, looking between him and the piano. Nervous as she was, she had been itching to get her fingers back on the keys again. She approached it slowly, fingers daintily plucking out a few chords and half scales, before with more confidence than she felt, she sat down on the bench, nodding to Ryan. “I do know it, actually. Do you want the bass part?”
Happily, Ryan seated himself on the bench next to her, putting his fingers into position for his part. He began the song, playing out the simple chords that formed the structure of the bass portion. After the short introduction, Chelsea came in with the melody, mechanic and stiff at first, although it quickly increased in fluidity and ease as her confidence grew. They came to the end, and then launched immediately into a second rendition. The song was short, so it was generally played that way anyways. Ryan smiled as he plucked happily at the keys, dutifully keeping the rhythm going as Chelsea's fingers eased into a merry dance across her range, falling into small improvisations here and there that melded effortlessly into the simple song. A smile graced her face as she began to enjoy herself, playing a song she hadn't touched in a long, long time. Even Link's feet began tapping as he listened to the joyful carnival the piano sang out, applauding as the song finally came to a perfectly choreographed end.
“It takes a lot of skill to be able to improvise like that, Chelsea! If you don't mind me saying so, I'm pretty sure you're better than 'just learning'!” Link said. “I don't suppose you know any other songs?” He asked, noting that the piano playing had brightened Chelsea's mood considerably.
“Well, ok I guess I have been learning for a while now.” Chelsea admitted, taking a more central position on the bench as Ryan vacated it to sit on a nearby stool. “You guys were singing 'Daniel' earlier, do you know anything else from Elton John?” she asked, fingers resting upon the piano as though it were an old, dear friend.
“Plenty of songs!” Ryan replied. “Can you play one? Which one's your favorite?” he asked, leaning towards her with a youthful sparkle in his eyes.
“Well... I...” she gazed at the keys nervously. “Do you know this one?” Chelsea asked as she began playing the introduction to the song. Immediately Ryan straightened up, recognizing the song within the first few notes. The individual notes soon gave way to an energetic dance of chords, her fingers spread across what seemed like impossible distances for her small hands.
Bouncing in time with the music, Ryan began singing along.
“I remember when rock was young,
Me and Suzie had so much fun!
Holding hands and skimming stones,
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own.
But the biggest kick I ever got,
Was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock.
While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock,
We were hopping and boppin to the Crocodile Rock, well.”
The piano rang out the song, loud and powerful and outrageous and fun all rolled into one. There was so much energy between the playing Chelsea and singing Ryan that even Link, who had earlier asserted he wasn't much of a singer, felt compelled to join in for the chorus.
“Crocodile rocking, is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still!
I never knew me a better time,
And I guess I never will.
Oh, Lawdy mama, those Friday nights
When Suzie wore those dresses tight and
The Crocodile Rockin was a-outta sigh-igh-igh-ight!”
Together the three threw their heads back and sang out the next part, voices raised in a silly symphony.
“Laaaaa! La la la la laaaaa! La la la la laaaaa! La la la la laaaaaa!”
Merrily her fingers danced, Ryan barely catching a breath before launching into the next verse. The boy's silly nature took over, as he dramatically began acting out the scene laid out by the song's words.
“But the years went by and the rock just died.
Suzie went and left us for some foreign guy!
Long nights crying by the record machine,
Dreamin of my Chevy and my old blue jeans.
But they'll never kill the thrills we got,
Burning up to the Crocodile Rock!
Learning fast as the weeks went past,
We really thought the Crocodile Rock would last, well-
Crocodile rocking, is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still!”
Ryan emphasized the words with a silly jig of his own, clearly improvised in the moment. Chelsea laughed aloud as the performance continued, never once missing a beat.
“I never knew me a better time,
And I guess I never will!
Oh Lawdy mama, those Friday nights!
When Suzie wore her dresses tight and
The Crocodile rocking was a-outta sigh-igh-igh-ight!
Laaaaa! La la la la laaaaa! La la la la laaaa! La la la la laaaaaa!”
Unable to contain their smiles, all three sang out the last verse together, recounting the good old days when rock was young.
“I remember when rock was young,
Me and Suzie had so much fun!
Holdin hands and skimming stones,
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own.
But the biggest kick I ever got,
Was doin a thing called the Crocodile Rock!
While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock
We were hoppin and boppin to the Crocodile Rock well-
Crocodile rocking, is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still!
I never knew me a better time,
And I guess I never will!
Oh Lawdy mama, those Friday nights
When Suzie wore her dresses tight and
The Crocodile rocking was a-outta sigh-igh-igh-ight!
Laaaa! La la la la laaaaa! La la la la laaaa! La la la la laaaaa!”
Several more times they repeated the last lines, before a nod from Chelsea indicated the end. Ryan finished off the song with an emphatic “La la la la la! Ooooh yeah!!” and Chelsea pounded out the ending chords in an emphatic display of her own. Ryan and Link both applauded and whooped, though Ryan was clearly out of breath from belting out the high energy song.
“Chelsea-” Link began, finding it hard to speak with the smile plastered on his face “-you are easily one of the best pianists I've ever met. And I've met some pretty amazing people! How do you even do that? I've tried that song before. A ton of his songs really, the chords are so spread out! Can I see your hands?” He asked, holding a hand out to Chelsea. Wordlessly, she placed a hand in his, and watched as he lifted it up, inspecting it. “Man, I don't know how you do it. You've got sorta long fingers yeah, but your hands are so small! How do you even reach?” he questioned, releasing her hand.
Chelsea chuckled, rubbing her fingers self-consciously. “I dunno, a lot of practice, I guess I got really good at stretching them out? Elton John's like, my favorite artist, so I was really set on learning his stuff.”
“You have got to come back and jam with us some more! We've been needing a pianist, and you're perfect!” Ryan exclaimed, his hand coming to rest of Chelsea's shoulder. Chelsea started slightly at the sudden contact, but she quickly decided she didn't mind as much as she thought she would, and didn't pull away. However her face fell slightly at the thought of leaving her new acquaintances already, but it did seem as though they were going to stop playing now.
“Yeah, you definitely should come back, Chelsea!” Link affirmed. He caught Chelsea's downward gaze however, and quickly added. “But you don't have to go just yet! We actually have to go get ready for dinner real quick- we eat with our parents- but you're welcome to come if you want.
Chelsea put up her hands, hastily declining the invitation “Oh no, I couldn't intrude, I don't want to barge in on a family dinner!”
Link shook his head, smiling at her. “Oh it's no problem! We bring friends over like, all the time, they're used to it. And I'm sure they'll want to meet you, I can already tell that Ryan's probably going to be babbling all about you when Mom asks what we did today.” Chelsea inhaled at the word 'friends', a small smile creeping into her expression.
Laughing quietly as her face broke into an even bigger smile, she replied “Oh- ok, if... if you say so.”
About half an hour later, Chelsea and her two new friends set out from Link's house, walking along the path that would take them to the brothers' parents' house where the family and a delicious dinner was waiting for them. Chelsea smiled as she happily exchanged stories with them, a glorious sunset and what was sure to be a happy future stretched out before her.
I actually find this information REALLY HELPFUL when I visit someone else’s gallery and like their OCs. Not everyone is comfortable with fanart and few artists post whether or not they are.
