I just called to say I love you, stevie wonder
Loved/love this song.
Here’s Tito Puente rocking the Bronx with A Maria Cervantes on the vibraphone in 1945. And here he is again with the same song at the Montreal Jazz Festival almost 40 years later in 1983.
a maria cervantes, tito puente
Featuring the music of Bill Haley and the Comets, this phenomenal dance clip from the 1950s movie Don’t Knock the Rock features some serious swing and lindy hopping done right. The kid should definitely see this. And then try and do it!
pretty darn fun.
don't leave me this way, harold melvin and the blue notes

‘Why?’: Remembering Nina Simone’s Tribute To The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Three days after the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, performer Nina Simone and her band played at the Westbury Music Festival on Long Island, N.Y. They performed “Why? (The King of Love is Dead),” a song they had just learned, written by their bass player Gene Taylor in reaction to King’s death.
