“You’re welcome madam,” he said before following in after her. When Sebastian got inside he scooted a bit so he wouldn’t crowd her space, giving them both enough wiggle room before opening up his computer and starting up the movie. “Off to Neverland.”

The movie opened up with the obligatory Cinderella castle and she relaxed against the boy beside her. Almost half an hour in, Nova’s lips moved unconsciously, “I always envied Peter Pan.” The private thought slipped out with ease until she realized she had spoken.

“That’s cool. Feel free to get closer now - but not too close.” she slightly referred to their previous encounter. Staring into the fire, she traveled her gaze upwards where the tips of flame seemed as if they were licking at the blonde’s face.

“I know how to not get burned,” he says, staring at her. “I know how fires work.”

She smirked. “Do you really? Didn’t seem like it before.”

He chuckled, grinning while she checked it out. “I see a competition in the near future. I bet we could take them.” He said grabbing his laptop. “Okay well I guess it’s time to get in and start the movie up.” Sebastian smiled and held the blanket door open for her.

“Why thank you kind sir,” Nova said with a grin pulling on her mouth. She climbed into their fort and situated herself before offering a hand to Sebastian.

“I don’t even know,” he says after a pause. Tonight the memories are stronger, tonight the pain feels more fresh.

Sebastian walked over to her and started to tie up some blankets and use some clips to make her structure a little more stable. “I think we’re doing pretty well.” He took a step back to look at it. “Is this gonna fit both of us or are we gonna have to make it bigger?”

Nova stuck her head inside the fort and looked around. “It seems fine, we can adjust it when we are inside.” She pulled out and grinned at Sebastian. “I think it’s pretty well made though. It might even rival the forts built by the Athena kids, and they make some impressive ones.”

“I’m fine,” he says, voice sharp. Then, sighing, he shakes his head. “Sorry. Long day.”

“I don’t mind,” she had finally finished successfully lighting the fire and stood back to admire her handiwork. After poking it a few more times for good measure, Nova sat down across from Scott and stared at him. “You want to talk about it?”

He walked back with the blankets, placed them on his bed and walked over to Nova to help her with some of the pillows, grinning. “Okay, maybe we are good on pillows.” He teased.

She blushed at his teasing smile and took the pillows that she was holding over to his bed. Nova climbed on top and began to arrange the pillows into a fort like shape. Or at least she tried to. “How’s this so far?” She proudly presented her somewhat tilted structure.

“Uh. Yea. I’m fine. Like. Yea, I’m fine,” he stammers quickly, sliding to the left.

“You sure?” She started laying out the logs out in a tent like shape over the pile of old crumpled CHB newspapers. “You don’t look fine.”

Sebastian grinned to see her so excited about the idea. It was definitely one of his favorite things to do as a kid, and seeing as he was just a larger child at this point, thanks mom, he would sometimes build them to just read in when he was alone. “Okay. You get the pillows off the beds. I’ll get the extra blankets.” he said with a quick squeeze of her hand and then let go to go off and grab the stack of blankets from the closet.

Smiling widely, Nova turned and started piling all the pillows into her arms. “Wo-ah,” she gasped, as some of the pillows started to fall out of her arms.

Scott sits by the fire pit, alone, staring into it. His hands shake as they cling to each other, his lip between his teeth. eyes closed. He can’t stop thinking.

“You okay there?” Nova tossed down the stack of logs that she was currently carrying from the woods. “Move over.” She prodded him with her extended stoker in an effort to get him to move away from the pit while she worked on it.

He sits next to her and smiles. “So what’re you doing up?”

“Tonight there’s supposed to be a meteor shower. I’ve been waiting since dinner ended.” She laid back down again, her back parallel to the solid ground. “The Perseid meteor shower is said to peak during today and tomorrow.”

“Nothing, just wanted to not be in my cabin. It can get lonely.”

“I totally understand.” Nova sat up and turned towards his figure. “Hey, sit down. The blanket’s large enough for the both of us.” She motioned for him to join her.

Gabe walks toward her softly, smiling for the first time in a while. “H-hey, he says gently.

“Oh, hey Gabe.” she said without lifting her head. She turned slightly to look into his eyes. “What brings you out on such a fine night such as this one?”

Nova gazed at the night sky, counting the constellations that appeared above her. Her eyes caught on the night’s full moon, and she began to reminisce about her previous life. How things have changed since then, for the better. She smiled contently and stretched her arms so that they were bent between her head and the small blanket she had brought.

Sebastian watched as she stared off. He squeezed her hand lightly. “This place is like one big family. Even if you’re not a demigod, you’re still a part of the family. The only thing I’ve ever gotten from my mom is my dna.” he said shaking his head. He looked at rheir hands and slid his fingers through hers. “So.. we could watch on one of the beds or we could make a couch out of pillows or like.. a fort or something.”

Nova’s face lit up with his suggestion of a fort. “Ohmygosh yes can we? That sounds so fun!” She squeezed his hand in excitement.

Scott stops moving. “Holy hell. How did you even think of that?” He’s impressed and amazed.

Shrugging, Nova turns around. “I’ve been told I have a rather cynical mind. I tend to assume the worst of people”

“Let’s say I am egotistical, just in theory. Because we both know I’m incredibly humble and would never compliment myself,” he says, winking at her, “Since I think you’re beautiful, wouldn’t that be a huge compliment?”

“I suppose.” Walking in thought, she suddenly came up with something else. “But you could also be egotistical in the way that you enjoy people looking up to you. Like all these compliments are actually just a way of growing people’s admiration for you, which in turn makes you feel better about yourself.”
