WHEN HARRY MET SALLY... â 1989, dir. Rob Reiner PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION â 2026, dir. Brett Haley
"That is a generous way of putting it," Jasmin laughed. It was no secret her romantic history had been interesting to say the least and Noah had been there for it all. Every heartache, every hook up. None of them ever stuck. If Jaz really thought about it, maybe she didn't want them to. "I promise to be on my best behaviour, okay? I'm not planning on falling in lust with any of the entertainers. After the formalities, I will be hitting the dancefloor. You'll meet me there, right?" she grinned. "Babe, you are no fun. I'll give, though, for the sake of the champagne. Do you know what you're wearing?"
Noah beamed, not bothering to hide his smile. "You don't want me to be honest do you?" Generous was right, at least they both could agree. Still, maybe he needed to be more blunt to keep her from trouble. He let out a little sigh, this promise. "I... I'm going to take you home that night, okay? Then you won't leave with anyone else and we don't even have to worry about that." He didn't need that additional stress with Jaz messing around with someone who would break her heart. He shook his head, "the dance floor? No. You won't see me there." He gave in to her too much if she thought that would happen. "No, I'll just figure out an outfit later."
"That can't be good," he responded almost instantly. Leo and Noah had always had a pretty clear-cut friendship, you know? Under-responsible and over-responsible. If Noah was coming to him for advice, that wasn't about how to dazzle a pretty face, they were in trouble. "Sounds serious, man. You sure you've got the right guy?" he teased before his face fell slowly. "Hey... I won't, I swear. What's going on, Noah?"
Oh cause that was helpful. He knew it though, knew that Leo wasn't usually the one but there was no one else he could confide in. That sounded worse too. He needed more friends. Noah shook his head, running a hand through his hair. "What... what would you do if you made a decision that you know would make everyone upset but it's the only option you had." Only he regret it already.
He couldn't believe he was doing this. Either going to Leo or asking for his advice. Yet arms folded, his chin rested on his hands, staring at his friend. "I need your help," words he didn't want to utter. "I need advice actually." He struggled to find the words without revealing the truth. "Just, you can't tell anyone, Leo." @teenagedmutantninja-leo
Daniela laughed, indulging a little too much with how perfectly well they both knew she did. She could do anything she wanted. "Well, I did promise I'd keep our little secret under wraps until the anniversary party. Your ficus can live to see another." She waved a dismissive hand as if he'd asked such a silly question. "No, you're notably unattached schedule-wise. I just wanted to stop by, absorb the energy. I'm excited, Noah. You don't have to look so grim."
Jas was going to kill him, if the rest of the team didn't finish him off first. Honestly, he wasn't sure who would be responsible for taking him out. Noah let out a sigh, adjusting the plant back as if the rest of them would know otherwise. "Plants brighten people's work," at least it felt like someone somewhere had said that. He should've known to expect trouble from her. "Not grim," just worried, "I just don't want to disrupt anyone's day.
"Ooh, I am loving the energy in here. The creativity, the dreams, the passion are palpable! Are we sure we need that plant though?" she added, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow at the ficus on the table.
"I'm not sure you have that right." She did, he wasn't glad but she unfortunately did. "Did I miss a meeting?" He was on... as on top of things as he could be. Trying to run a business had gotten harder and harder.
"I'm stressing," she repeated, grateful that he'd taken the plant in stride. She didn't take a breath until his arm was around her shoulders, steering her in better directions. Although, she might come back and trash that plant later... "Okay, true. Our third year, with the magician? I mean, thank you alcohol for that one. My one regret, as you know, is hooking up with him after," she shuddered. What that man wouldn't pull out of a hat. "Still! I don't know, it feels big. I mean, it is big. I just want this to really gut punch our haters and lift up our team. I want... Tequila. And a champagne fountain! Maybe one of those 'make your own sundaes' tables?"
It was clearly much easier for her to say than to stop but she was at least breathing and that was at least a stop from Jaz fainting before their big event. Though the more she rambled, the more concerned that she would in fact do that. "Your type continues to surprise me daily," though it only served as a reminder that he would need to put someone on Jasmin drink watch as he was far from able to be by her side throughout the night. "It is big but if there is any one who understands more than us it is our team. I'd be fine with the fountain but I am vetoing the sundaes table. There are better and more important things that could be done with the sundae money. Anything else."
"Babe, how have we had over four months of planning time and I'm still not emotionally or literally prepared for this? I mean, it's our annual- our anniversary- office party. We've done this before! It's been perfect before. I don't know, something feels off. I feel off-- Here take this-," she handed Noah the plant- "Do we hate it? Do we need it?" She suddenly stopped, almost causing a scene (as usual).
"Tell me everything's gonna be okay?" @noah-ideahere
Noah didn't want to throw her off, but he wasn't lacking in emotional preparedness. He wasn't sure what kind emotional preparedness was needed for their party. Though he enjoyed seeing her flustered in a way he couldn't explain. "You're stressing, Jaz." Though he took the plant anyway. "We don't mind the plant." He put it back, then put his arm around Jaz's shoulders and drew her away from the plant. He turned her to face him, a smile crossing her face. "It will be okay. It's our party and honestly with alcohol they won't care."

Forever blessed in my own lifetime, my man! Forever blessed thanks to you. Ah, câmon. A tramp stamp is more above the ass, an ass stamp is undeniably on the ass. Who doesnât wanna be on my ass? I was voted âbest buttâ in my high school year book. Iâll take your suggestions under consideration though, boss. Although, if itâs anywhere too obvious people may talk. Think youâre giving me special treatment for being so handsome. Thank you. [ laughs ] You always wanna threaten me with a good time. Just kidding. Besides, Iâm pretty sure that gal I met last night was the one. Iâll take what I can get.
Sir, yes, sir.
I donât. I have no desire to have my name or anything anywhere even close to your ass. I promise you, Iâm not the only one. Weâre a lot of ways away from high school Leo, whoâs to say their vote hasnât changed. [shakes his head, sighing] Iâll let you believe some of what you want to believe bud, but alright. The one? The one as in what exactly? You donât even know her, donât you think itâs a little too early to be putting that much pressure on yourself. Youâd have to find her again first anyway and thatâs near impossible.
Carson âł Noah
Carson: Okay, you may have a point since Jasmin and Amir are 100% co-conspirators but still!
Carson: It's fine
Carson: I mean, I'll hold a grudge for the rest of time but it's fine really
Carson: You can take it up with Amir. The company card is a very mysterious device x
Noah: I'll make it up to you somehow
Noah: I told Jaz to put a lower limit on that card
Noah: Also who how & when did you get that card
Noah: Stop holding grudges, you'll flip
Noah: I'll give you vacation time or we'll negotiate

âOkay so when exactly were you gong to mention that your college bestie and our newest employee was hot? Itâs not cool to keep this kinda prime info to yourself, Noah. Ten points deducted from you. PS I brought you a coffee and looookâ,â Jasmin took a breath long enough to present the coffee cup towards him eagerly if not teasingly, âThe barista who has a crush on you drew a lil love heart beside your name.â @noah-ideahereâ
âWho are you...â then is dawned on him. Noah let out a small snort, shaking his head. âPlease tell me I hired some other college best friend thatâs not Leo and thatâs who youâre talking about.â The one thing he really hadnât banked on was that now Jazzy and Leo were going to be in the same environment. They were already stressful separate, together? Well that could only be bad for him. âIgnore Leo and anything he says please.â He muttered, taking the drink from her, a small nod of thanks. Noah shrugged, âmaybe she just puts hearts by everyoneâs name.â
teenagemutantninja-leoâ:
Youâre lucky I didnât throw in my star sign and blood type. Fair enough, there are no secrets between former frat bros and there never will be. Youâre still the only name Iâd realistically get tattooed on my ass. Oh, shit! Was that inappropriate for the work place? Aw man, not fair. [ grins even wider ] Okay, I have to meet her immediately then. Get me an assistant so I can get them to clear my whole schedule. That or I gotta see the extra comfy floor in your office and- Hey. You better be.
Despite how well you know me and especially despite my track record, I will not let you down.
I wouldâve walked away if you tried to go there, so youâre lucky you didnât go there. I still think that would be the stupidest idea to ever get my name tattooed on your ass, I donât wanna be a tramp stamp. At least put me on your shoulder or wrist not there. - I wonât hold it against you... this time.[ rolls eyes] Iâll beat your ass if I see you anywhere by her, howâs that. Also, you literally donât deserve an assistant, youâve just started. The extra comfy floor, Iâll let you see that.
I- fine. Iâm holding you against that.
Carson âł Noah
Carson: You are literally the boss, it is your job to know
Carson: I knew it
Carson: TRAITOR
Carson: Well, I hope you're happy because now I have to go on a shopping trip for some "A List" pretentious gala thing or whatever.
Carson: I'll send you the bill
Noah: You've met Jasmin, you know that doesn't mean anything
Noah: I tried! I'm sorry Carson...
Noah: And honestly it's kind of a good article idea
Noah: Shopping trip? Do you people not already have clothes
Noah: Nope, I'm not accepting any bills
Noah: Don't make me give you guys a limit
FLASHBACK: December 30th, 2013
jazzy-jasminâ:
âNo mushrooms,â she quickly corrected, her priorities very much in place even after taking on that whiskey one on one. Toe to toe. It was only after that she realised it really was Noah. Beautiful, perfect Noah and she honestly could have started crying again if he hadnât said the word âsexyâ outloud. Jasminâs eyes stayed closed as he spoke, his voice as comforting as ever. Noah had always been the most stable thing in her life. He was her lighthouse on the stormiest of seas, an anchor that would never let her become truly lost.
But she was drunk and on the floor so instead of voicing anything close to that, she simply reached up to pet his face. âYour face is prickly,â she grinned, letting out a laugh before finally opening her eyes again. âOf course Iâm ordering pizza, you monster. Thereâs never notâŠnever a badâ Thereâs always time for pizza!â With great effort (truly, truly great) Jasmin managed to sit herself up just enough that she could kind of see his blurry outline. There he was.
âYouâre asking a lot of questions, babe.â Another pause, then another giggle she couldnât stop. âYou think Iâm sexy.â What a dummy. Jasmin let out a sigh, her fingers reaching out again for the bottle before deciding to leave it be this time. She wouldnât wanna ruin her pizza. Noah was her best friend. Did he know that? Did he know how hard it was for her to not tell him everything? She felt her face fall, her lips settling back into a pout but she managed to keep her stupid tears at bay this time. Might as well justâŠrip off the bandaid.
âI was on a date. With Val,â a pause. Woman up, please. âI- I was going to⊠I donât know. Say something, I guess? Like, maybe she⊠Maybe we could have been like, somethingâŠsomething. Real. Or- Or just Facebook official even âcause I was stupid and thought I had all these stupid feelings and maybe just for once, I could have said something. And it could have worked out and I wouldnât ruin it like I ruin everything. Because Iâm a sabo- a sabow⊠A sabotage,â she threw her hands up for extra emphasis, doubtful any of that had made sense and she hadnât even gotten to the point. âBut Val didnât. Doesnât. She wanted to stop it, quit. Break up, I guess? 'Cause itâs getting too serious and complicated and we work together and itâs justâŠstupid and over and Iâm being stupid.â
Jas pressed her lips together, wishing she could take back everything that had just come spilling out of her. âI guess⊠I guess Iâm just gonna die alone, okay? Itâs okay. Itâs fine. I am unlovable and it is fine.â She blinked at him then, as if realising that he was, again, here. âUh, what are you doing here?â
He had to admit, at least drunk emotionally wrecked Val had some sort of hold on her pizza priorities. Also, it meant he could now have some of her pizza and not have to think about pulling off mushrooms. Trash mushrooms. Noah wasnât exactly sure what to do. It wasnât that he hadnât seen her in such a state, it was Jas after all and she had a tendency with relationships. He really hoped she would learn but at this point he shouldnât be surprised. Sheâd be okay after tonight, they just needed to get through the initial recovery. Like always, theyâd make it through.
Noah smiled, shaking his head lightly as he cupped the hand of hers on his face. âItâs the stubble, I figured Iâd let my beard grow a little this time. Iâll probably shave it within a week though.â He shrugged. âThereâs my girlâ he grinned, wiping her face with his thumb when she reopened her eyes. âMhmmâ he hummed, trying not to burst out laughing in her face. He was glad he was here, of course being there for her, but mostly the entertainment from watching Jas try and string together a sentence. âYouâre right, pizza is basically the staple and foundation of our relationship.â He paused, narrowing his eyes, âI hope you know now Iâm here that weâre sharing this pizza.â
He reached out his hand to stable her, in case she fell. Realizing she was good... for now he withdrew them. âI always do, hun.â he smiled. Noah slid his tongue against his teeth, pursing his lips. A small smile fought at the corner of his lips, âI think youâre a lot of things, but sure if you think you heard that, then go ahead.â Of course he had said that, but even he wouldnât let drunk Jasmin to get a big ego. Not on his watch. That also just wasnât the point of their night. She did look really good in her dress, even drunk and fighting her feelings.
His tongue poked the inside of his cheek, nodding with every sentence she said. He reached his hand to brush hair out of her face. His hand hesitated before pulling away from her. âI donât think youâre stupid of being stupid. Itâs her loss Jas, okay. You have every right to be upset with her, and I mean I donât know work romances are complicated.â Relationships in general were complicated, they both knew that. He cupped her face in his hands, looking at her seriously âYou didnât ruin it, babe. I gotta admit, sometimes you do sabotage relationships but I saw how it was with Val. You really liked her and you tried hard to make this work out, you even wanted to make it official. Jas, trust me and listen to me okay. You are not stupid. You arenât.... always sabotaging your relationships. You arenât gonna die alone. Youâre gorgeous, funny, smart, creative, talented. Any one would be lucky to have you to themselves. Trust me Jas, if you die alone thereâs no hope for me.â
âAnd you are definitely not unlovable, okay Jasmin? He grinned, dropping his hands once more. âWell as youâve said many times before, my life is so boring I have nothing else to do.â He shrugged. âI was also just checking around the office and preparing for the party tomorrow. Also, uhm why is our floor so damn uncomfortable.â
teenagemutantninja-leoâ:
Me? Complaining? I? Leonardo Antonio Arcuri? I think not. Man, my first day and already youâre dragging me through the mud. Where do I complain about you, huh? HR? The infamous Jasmin? [ grins and waggles his brows ] You always need cake. Youâd be a lot happier if you had some cake, Noah.
Forreals though, man. Thank you for this, you know I appreciate it.
Okay, no reason for the full name, I already know you, relax Leo, calm down. I donât know what youâre talking about, i hear nothing of the sort. [ snorts ] I basically am HR. [ a large groan ] For all that is good in this world, for the sake of me, you, and everyone in this office maybe just stay clear of her. I am happy Leo, well I was before I saw your face. Kidding, kidding.
Yeah, just show me Iâm not making the biggest mistake of the year.
Carson âł Noah
Carson: Hello, traitor.
Carson: Did YOU know about Amir's latest assignment?
Noah: What /ever/ do you mean?
Noah: Does anyone ever know what he actually does?
Noah: Him and Jaz live in a world of their own
Noah: But yes... I did ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Noah: Decisions were made before I could object
