100 Days Left...
So today I have 100 Days left... seems crazy. I remeber when I had 100 days until I left, I started doing that little Bucketlist, and I looked through it today, its amazing how many things I completed on the list without even thinking about it hahahaah. So now, 100 days left to go, I started writing a personal journal on my computer for everyday, so I can look back on it in the future. Hopefully I can remember. :D
Incredible trip to Sweden, the cruise was great. Amazing time bonding with my two wonderful Brothers and my awesome Mother! Really had a great time :D
Vanhat! This was my incredible Finnish Dance, it was on February 14th. After months of trying to get to dance class on time and trying not to step on Flavia´s toes, we finally did it! It was an incredible dance and an even more incredible after party ;) For sure one of the top highlights of my Exchange. Kimpinen Lukio Vanhat 2014
6 Months
6 months, it’s the equivalent to 15,638,400 seconds. The past 181 days has been such a blessing and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the people who have helped me get here. I have said it a thousand times before, and I will say it countless times again, the experiences I’ve had, the memories I’ve made and the relationships I’ve gained will hold a place in my heart for a life time. Without a doubt in the world, Rotary Youth Exchange is truly the best decision of my life. Now I have the second half of my exchange, to make every second count. We really don’t notice how fast time flies, until we rewind that mental track of ours just a little bit, and we see who we were and who we have become. 6 months, it’s the equivalent to 15,638,400 opportunities to have my breath taken away.
Update!
Hey Everyone! So I know I have not posted in a long time and I want to apologize for that. Last time there was an update it was around Christmas I believe, so January has been pretty good, unfortunately my New Years plans fell through but I spent it with my host brother and some friends doing Avanto instead :D The hardest thing was saying good bye to Nico on January 6th, he has been my brother since August and to have him leave was rough but, the way I see it is, we are brothers so we will see each other again, I am not exactly sure when, but I kept my mind occupied with all of our good times instead of being sad that he was leaving. I am an Oldie now eh! so the Newbies are flowing in, I havnt got the chance to meet any of them in person yet, but on Feb 1st I hopefully will be seeing a few, very excited for that, because My Oldies meant SO much to me, I hope I can fill the Newbies expectations :) --- For anyone that doesnt know what Oldies and Newbies are, pretty much, there are 2 groups of Rotary Exchange Students, the ones who come in the winter ( usually Aussies, Kiwis, some Brazilians, some Argentinians ) and the other group is everyone else who comes in the summer, so since RYE is around 12 months long there are always exchange students who have been in the country for at least 6 months ( Oldies ) and exchange students who are relatively new ( Newbies) So trailing behind the last paragraph, this means my exchange is more that half way done.... which is INSANE. Its hard to wrap my head around. I remember coming to Lappeenranta in August and looking up to Nico so much because he knew SO much about exchange and the world and all this random knowledge he gained throughout his exchange, and to think that I am in the same position that he was in then, is mind boggling! I almost cut my hand off! Being a Canadian Lumberjack I accidentally nicked my thumb, luckily I didnt need any stitches, and it didnt hurt too bad, but Im all healed up now ( Thanks to my Dads Sang De L´Acadie ) But a couple weeks after the incident my host dad took me back out to try again. He says I can cut wood fairly well ( again thanks to my Acadian Genes ) So learning how to lumberjack was a great experience :D Other than that, everything has been going well, I have met a lot of new Finnish Friends since Nico left, been partying a lot, enjoying times with the other international students and just doing my best to keep busy with friends because the Finnish winter an be dull if you let it get the best of you. Overall I am enjoying life as much as I can and I look forward to what the next months have to offer :) If you have any questions feel free to ask away :D
did you ever have any doubts about exchange? like were you worried that you couldn't handle some things or the challenges? ps. merry late christmas and a happy belated new year!!
I never really had doubts, there were a few things I was nervous about, such as stopping sports and being rusty when I come back to school. I wasn´t worried about the obstacles I anticipated, I was aware and I guess I tried to mentally prepare myself and keep my mind wide open. But at the end of the day, RYE is such an incredible experience nothing could shy me away from it.and Merry Christmas / Happy New Year to you too! :)
Life is Great.

Lapland Always in my Heart
Lapland Tour
Five days ago I climbed on a bus headed to the arctic circle, completely oblivious to the fact that for those few days I would be in a paradise beyond my wildest dreams; in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, getting the opportunity to experience the most incredibly absurd adventures of my life time and most importantly doing all this with the people I hold closest to my heart. I honestly didn't think I could possibly love this group of 120+ Exchange Students more than I already did. Lapland proved me wrong. Thank you everyone who made Lapland such a surreal experience, Lapland will forever have a special place in my heart.
just wanted to say i really love hearing about everything thats going on on your exchange, its all so interesting!! also, do you know if Rotary 7080 is doing BeaverTales again this year??
Hahaha, Great thank you :D I really appreciate it, and yes I do know! lol we indeed are, but I think they will be up pretty soon ( mine will be a little late simply because I JUST got back from Lapland tour about 30 minutes ago and I will finish writing it all tomorrow then send it in ) Glad you are enjoying my blog :)If you have anymore questions feel free to ask away,Noah Godin :)
