On one hand I do understand people who don't like shipping things that break up taivan but on the other hand tainat, melvan/vanhat, Jackievan, taishauna, tailot + jackietai are all absolutely delicious thematically

imma be real the way Van greets Mel in the car after she get’s kicked and kidnapped 1000% reads as an ex greeting their ex-partner they haven’t seen in over a decade (knowing from experience lol)

worse: ex-hookup – intense, codependent, 'unfinished' – hookup.

i doubt they even ended in some blow out fight. just van looking at mel and knowing that, if they keep going, it won't end good.

i know that puts a sad spin on a funny concept but i think if they ended all finicky and sudden, it makes the reunion EVEN funnier

this and it doing WONDERS for melissa's self-image.

mel's really special to me because, even if she dresses boyish, we see her wearing skirts in season 2 and she's VERY emotional, like the perfect mix of teen boy/teen girl gender expression. i think van could and WOULD help mel express what feels right. like calling her pretty in a skirt and calling her handsome in a button-up.

similarly, i think mel would help van emotionally – reassuring her that the taivan break up was a TAI thing and she doesn't have to change in the slightest.
