Kill the Stigma that you can’t have favorites.
Having favorites doesn’t mean you care for other writers less. Having favorites doesn’t mean you don’t write with new people. Having favorites doesn’t make you less of a person. Having favorites doesn’t mean you don’t value all your partners.
The fact is, having a favorite is natural. Favorites among the writing community comes with age, knowing someone OOC, writing with someone for years, or simply having a natural chemistry with someone’s writing style.
These favorites are invaluable because they challenge you. They strive to make you write deeper, write more, write intensely and wonderfully. Favorites aren’t a bad thing and I feel like people have come to see that you have to treat each and everyone one equally. But that’s a misinterpretation. Just because you have a favorite doesn’t mean anyone is less or more than the others. Its just means you have a solid connection that makes it easier to write.
Favorites help create muse. Favorites help improve your writing. Favorites help strive to write with others. Favorites bring you new friends.
Don’t let anyone convince you that a favorite is a bad thing. I have several favorites, but I never forget my other writers. The thing is, don’t forget about everyone you write with. But you should never feel guilty for writing with your favorites either. You do what is best for you, and if that is writing with your favorites for a few days only to improve your muse then go for it!
WRITE WITH WHOEVER YOU WANT! WRITE WITH THOSE YOU LOVE! WRITE WHAT YOU LOVE MOST!
Basically, you write what you want to write, when you want to write it, with who you want to write it.
Embrace your Favorites, they are your greek muses.

“…but you, my darling, you were the kind of love i would live for.”
— o.g.k.
Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens except you can hear it inexplicably playing - by a whole orchestra no less - while lost in the forest at night. You have a gut feeling that you shouldn’t, but following the music seems like your best bet at no longer being lost. Nevermind that you keep hearing footsteps around you that aren’t yours - there’s no one there, no matter how many times you check.

Psst, a bit ago you mentioned a reply formula you use? Please offer your wisdom and share your Greatness because your threads are always beautiful and I have no idea how you do it.
I DID !!!
when i reply, i do use a sort of “formula” but it’s mainly a series of guidelines i use to make sure i’m giving my partner something to reply to, that i’m not making my partner do all the work, etc. as a roleplayer there are plenty of pet peeves that i have when it comes to receiving replies and i definitely try to avoid doing those things to other people.
i usually keep the following things in mind when writing:
1. “answer all parts of the question”, ie. that thing they used to tell you to do in school but in this case it means that i try to address all of the important pieces of my partners’ response, at least in part. there have been times where i felt that my partner didn’t even read my reply, and totally glossed over important things that my character did or said, and at that point it makes you feel something of an npc. it’s not a fun place to be.
2. reaction + action — this ties into #3 but i think a good reply reacts to your partner’s reply, and then performs some sort of other action for your partner to reply to. it could be that your muse does something, or says something, or asks a question (pretty common + easy). essentially, it pushes the scene forward and prevents your characters from spending 6 hours talking in the middle of an intersection when they were supposed to be on their way to a restaurant. this is totally dependent on the muses, though, because i also keep in mind that sometimes your character wouldn’t do or say or ask anything, and that’s ok too. but if so, it should be because of ic reasons and not laziness.
3. “would i be able to respond to this?” this is probably the single most important thing for me; it absolutely sucks when you receive a reply that you can’t do anything with, ie. a “passive reply”. a reply that responds to the words or actions of your muse without pushing the scene forward or providing anything for your muse to react to. i could go on about this but for the sake of answering the question: when i post a reply, i always ask myself whether or not i would be able to respond to it. i try to imagine at least 2-3 ways that the scene could be reacted to, and if i can’t think of anything? then the reply isn’t done yet. if i wouldn’t be able to respond to my own reply then i can’t ask my partner to.
4. “how much work am i putting on my partner’s shoulders, and how much is on mine?” i keep this in mind a lot. a partnership implies equal responsibility and it means that both of us should be coming up with ideas, pushing scenes forward, and talking to each other. if i feel like i’m the one doing all the work then, honestly, i’m going to assume you’re not interested and i’m not going to respond anymore. on the other side, i try to recognize when i’ve put a little too much on my partner and try to address it either ooc, or by taking a little more control over the thread than i have been.
anyways i think i made this sound very complicated when it’s really just an expanded rp version of “do unto others”. we’re all here to relax and have fun and make friends, it’s not supposed to be stressful but no one wants to feel disrespected. i respect the people that i write with a lot and i want us to have fun together ?? but it’s no fun when people don’t communicate, it’s no fun when people are lazy or selfish and it’s no fun when people don’t consider the feelings of others—or their own feelings.
Superheroes that are like “if we kill them we’re just as bad as they are uwu” ? Micro dick energy
The only exception is Aang, whose whole “I’m not gonna kill him if i can find another way” thing is less false moral equivalency and more “I’m twelve and I have been through way too much bullshit this year to add ‘commit my first murder’ to the list.”
I do respect superheroes who don’t kill, and I really think “we’re as bad as they are if we do it” is a terrible oversimplification of why someone would come to that moral conclusion.
Three reasons why a hero might not kill:
1. They are not granted by their society a “licence to kill.” Many (not all) people accept that a soldier or a judge might need to kill a wrongdoer in the course of their duties. Those people (should) act under strict rules and processes to determine when a death is just. A society, to be peaceful, usually functions under a guarantee that people won’t on their own judgement decide to off people. Vigilantes don’t usually have state-sanctioned authority, but they do rely on public goodwill to be counted as heroes and not menaces or even villains. A hero, especially an independent, self-proclaimed one, may lack the authority or judgement to serve as executioner. Most just societies require a trial before delivering a sentence.
2. They don’t need to. Paradoxically, or maybe not so much so, the stronger a hero is, the less they need to kill. One of the most common defenses for a murder is “self defense,” the idea that the person making the plea was in so much danger from the deceased that killing them was justifiable. But once you’re a swordsman swift enough to cut bullets or a muscleman strong enough to lift trucks, who’s that big a threat? As your control over your power and your ability to master an opponent both increase (and barring completely wild or uncontrolled abilities, these two are very linked) the easier it becomes to hold back, to subdue with the minimal amount of damage and to render even the worst villains neutralized without going nuclear. 3. The power to kill is bad for their mental health. Not everyone can perform even a “just” killing with a clean conscience. A hero might fear the trauma of killing, and seek to avoid the damage. Or a hero might introspect, and realize that, should they kill today, tomorrow the choice will be easier. Killing an opponent, rather than subduing them, is often the easy way out, and a hero who comes to rely on that solution might find themselves killing more and more, Even if killing isn’t addictive, a hero might still fear that mindset.
Now, a common version of this problem is Batman, who wouldn’t kill the Joker even if the Joker is at maximum edge, dealing out huge terrorist acts and body counts. The best reason for Batman not to kill him isn’t “I am as bad as the Joker if I kill,” but more, “I am a man who uses superheroism as a trauma coping mechanism, and if I start committing extrajudicial killings my mental state and my loose alliance with the police will both deteriorate.”

Dashboard Userstyle. Rise. // Download/Install
As to change things up a bit, this is a dashboard edit that can be safely installed with the help of Stylus (this is an extension equivalent to the old Stylish, but by a different creator and wholly safe for use), created within the same aesthetic as my themes. Simply install the Stylus extension, then navigate to the Download/Install link above and click ‘Install Style’ and voila, your dashboard has gotten a makeover.
Very, very important:
As this userstyle was created to use the same fonts as my themes (which generally do not come pre-installed on Windows or Macs), you will need to download two fonts as to view this dashboard userstyle as it was created to be viewed; here are the needed links:
- Calibri - Frank Ruhl Libre
As an added note: This entire userstyle consists of weeks and weeks of hard work and as a result, it spans over 7500 lines of code. So while I can try to help with various small alterations, I’ll be incredibly picky as nothing in it is a small endeavor by any means.
As always (though it’s increasingly more important here), please like or ideally REBLOG THIS POST. You’re under no obligation whatsoever to do so, but I’d immensely appreciate it if you helped spread the word! And by all means, if you have questions or have found a glitch, never hesitate to message me!
There are two types of summer; white and dark.
White summers are those full of lawn and linen, the sea and soft sunshine, cherries and children’s smiles, in which you feel disconnected and light, almost floating, dreamy and distant in a haze of white dandelion fluff. You don’t ever want to land.
Dark summers are honeyed and sulky, full of pomegranates, thunderstorms, magnolias and un-kept promises. Cinematic and shadowy, you exist in a trance of melancholy, and feel passionately, though feign detachment. Pandora opens the box, and lightning fills the sky.

You don’t have to forgive your abuser. It’s not required. You’re allowed to be angry about what happened to you. You’re allowed to be angry at the people who hurt you. Suppressing these emotions, believing that you aren’t allowed to feel anger, only contributes to self blame. You don’t deserve to be treated like shit. You didn’t then, you don’t now. It’s okay to be angry about it. It may even help you heal.
