“Expecting trouble?” Dick asked, sharp eyes watching as Speedy descends to free him from his… pointed capture. When are they not expecting trouble? It’s not like villains take the day off to get ice cream with the kids, is it? He waited ‘til the arrow is removed from his clothing before offering retaliation in the form of a ( good-natured ) slug to his fellow sidekick’s shoulder.

He can’t really blame the guy; everybody looks different out of disguise.

“Yeah, yeah, I get it. So many people trying to kill you, you don’t see the good guys anymore, huh?” He was no grass, and telling anybody what had happened would most likely get back toBatman anyway. Safer not to say anything. “Uh- yeah, Gotham’s my ‘scene’, but I thought I’d come haunt you for tonight. That okay?”

Roy pulled the hood off of his head, his eyes flashing with horror, embarrassment, and mild annoyance in having taken a shot at Gotham’s second hand man. If Oliver found out about this, he’d either congratulate Roy or give him a long winded lecture ... either way, Roy hoped Dick would keep quiet about this incident. But if the slug on the shoulder meant anything, it was that all was forgiven. For now.

“ There’s been some trouble cooking up here for the last few weeks. Not sure if you’ve been updated by the big, brooding guy or by Oliver, but there’s been some suspicious stuff going on. Hence the whole ... overreaction. ” Roy gestured to the hole now in Dick’s sleeve. “ Sorry about that. ”

The streets had been more dangerous than usual lately, so having Dick willingly come by to help - or haunt - was an ample opportunity to do some more digging. Backup was important nowadays. “ You can tag along. Do you have your costume, or are you going around all civilian today ? ”
