I've made a lil' thing for Step 1 "CJ" Bohnes with relationships under the cut. If you're interested in more info fell free to reach out!! I am planning on posting more stuff about her but don't know when/what yet.
Relationships:
Tantie Opal: ⢠CJ is indifferent about Opal but does recognize her struggle as a single mother. ⢠She if often found in uncomfortable situations when with her Tantie because of the constant feeling of being a burden. She has a hard time accepting things from Opal often brushing it off offers claiming she doesn't need it.
Overall: CJ tries to help out Tantie Opal around the house and taking care of Liam. She perceives it as her own way of repaying Opal for taking care of her. When interacting CJ is reserved about their thoughts and feeling only really expressing them when she is alone. Opal is trying to be there for her niece but doesn't know how to approach her. Needless to say their relationship is strained.
Cousin Liam "Lee": ⢠With Liam also being a child CJ is most familiar with him. ⢠During their yearly family get-together CJ always found Liam annoying. This was due to the that when he first learned to walk he followed her around none stop. She was declared his "favorite" despite only seeing each other one weekend out of the year. She would not put up with is antics often blowing him off or outright ignoring him. ⢠After moving in CJ became a lot more docile around Liam, allowing him to drag her around and just being more tolerable of him.
Overall: CJ doesn't like how clingy Liam is but doesn't have the energy to fight back. She doesn't exactly love him but she also doesn't hate him; he just someone that needs to be taken care of. However, on instinct she is willing to do anything for him and will put his needs before her own. A common consequence of this is having to turn down hangouts with the Boys' Club or the Cul-de-sac Kids.
Qiu "Autumn" Lin: ⢠The first person she met, starting impression was very neutral. She wouldn't mind hangout with or with out them. Let them walk with her to find the plane thrower but was confused at to why they would want to. ⢠She didn't like that they appeared at her door the first day of school, didn't think she was worth the time. However, was really happy when they called her their friend. ⢠Didn't start truly enjoying their company until after the trip to the bridge.
Overall: CJ always gets happy whenever she hangs out with Qiu. They have a very calming affect on her, a brief escape from their own insecurities. She doesn't get jealous when they hang out with other people but her sense of loneliness does slightly grow. Qiu is the only person that she will seek out to hangout with.
This does not mean that CJ fully relies on Qiu. She is careful to keep her personal problems out of the friendship in fear of ruining the mood/moment. However, when Qiu does notice and ask if something is wrong, she will give a very surface level answer like: "My shoes are bothering me" or "Just thinking about the homework".
Tamarack Baumann: ⢠The second person she met, if Qiu wasn't with her than she wouldn't have meet Tamarack until the following day. ⢠Tamarack was a lot to take in and CJ was very uncomfortable around her, although she tried her best not to express it. After hanging out more she couldn't really make out how she felt about Tamarack but know that she couldn't deal with her alone. ā¢CJ didn't call Tamarack her friend until after a certain rain incident (sorry patreon spoilers can't go into detail).
Overall: CJ only hung out with Tamarack if someone else was with them, she was not someone that CJ sought out. It's not that she hated spending time with her but it was that she couldn't deal with how strong her personality was and needed another person as a buffer.
Despite this Tamarack is someone that CJ respects because of her confidence despite her situation. After all they were the same, both not living with their parents despite the drastically different circumstances.
"Ren" Murry: ⢠Didn't really think much of her but since she was Autumn's she couldn't be too bad. ⢠After knowing her for a bit CJ started to like her a little more; not enough to call her a friend but she was good company.
Overall: CJ doesn't mind Ren and gets along with her pretty well, however when put together alone they are both pretty awkward.
Baxter Ward: ⢠First impression was that he was cool, quickly followed by a slight dislike due to how smug he came across. ⢠There were a few incidences where CJ would enjoy hangout with him but would only do so if with other people. Unlike Tamarack, Baxter was someone who she couldn't see having one on one time with.
Overall: CJ's opinion of Baxter is complicated, she is indifferent about him for the most part but there are times where she does truly enjoy being around him. Then there are other times where she doesn't.
