Ari wasn’t sure what brought them to a children’s maze but there they were. Perhaps it was the humiliation of the children that brought them. Or the ability to let frustrations out on the magical beings inside. True, they were allowed to stun, but who said anything about other charms and spells which would be much more fun? They hadn’t seen anything like that – though, even if they had, they would argue otherwise. …or, most likely, use a spell on said person who should have the decency to keep their mouth shut when speaking to an Avery. Especially Ari Avery.
Deciding if they truly wanted to enter the maze (wondering about its boredom factor versus enjoyment), Ari saw Bellatrix step in. They smiled briefly and figured it would be a blast to join their friend whom they hadn’t seen lately.
So Ari entered the maze with the enchantment closing them in. They got a thrill up the back of their spine.
Everyone was trapped. What was there to save them now?
Surely, there were ways to save the children, but Ari didn’t care. The thought of anyone being under enchantments with a self-serving Narcissist in the maze was enough to bring them the thought of fun.
Upon entering, they saw Bellatrix already expressing her anger. It delighted Ari. It’s something the two had in common. Torture. While Ari was more calculating, the two were extremely cold. Maybe that’s why they were so close.
Clicking their tongue, Ari opened their conversation. “Is that any way to talk to an old friend, Bellatrix? Surely, I’m no bother.” Ari raised their eyebrow and smirked. “Let’s take this maze head on and scare the children, shall we? It’s some for some friendly bonding, don’t you think?”
Realizing who it was settled her temper somewhat and instead allowed her to enjoy more of the glee. There was a short list of people who would have helped her sour mood, but seeing Ari finally gave the evening promise.
“Oh, Ari,” she crooned, striking her wand back to smash through the skeleton again - it hadn’t reformed yet, that one was just for fun. “As if you could ever bother me. What do you say we make this into a little game? They’ve collected all these toys here for us as it is. We haven’t had a proper girls night in ages.”
Glancing around the intersection they found themselves in, she examined their options. The clacking sound of skeleton teeth and squealing children came from all directions, promising opportunity in every one. Perhaps the evening wasn’t going to be a total waste as she had feared it would.
“Would you like to pick the way then? I was wondering, since these skeletons can piece themselves back together, how do you think they handle fire?”
