Still reeling in total amusement from yesterday's mall experience.
Me and my brother go to the mall because I want to check out some TADC merch at our local Hot Topic. At the Hot Topic, there's really only shirts and 2 Gangle plushies. Everything else on the shelf is Murder Drones (nothing wrong about it, just not what I was looking for </3). Almost bought another Jax shirt, but I was looking for either the blind boxes or Jax plushies, so we leave.
As we're walking, we spot a Spencer's and I joke about how I love going in there so I can make a "So, an asexual walks into a Spencer's" joke to my friends. My brother laughs and asks if I wanted to go in to see if we can make an even funnier joke to mortify our friends. Of course I said yes because why not, and we go in AND THE SPENCER'S HAD MORE TADC MERCH THAN HOT TOPIC. WE WERE BOTH BAMBOOZLED. PLUSHIES, FIGURES, KEYCHAINS, SHIRTS--

Cleo, the real human person who will be face revealing next weekend, is, by their own definition, a heavyset White femme presenting nonbinary person who is in their early-mid 40s. That's what they will look like. I need you to get that in your mind right now so that I don't see any dumb as shit comments about Cleo not looking like fanart or a cartoon or their anime style V-Tuber. They will look like a real human person. You will be normal about this.
It’s called the crayola colorcycle program! As on its FAQ, they mention the following:
“Crayola ColorCycle will accept all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers. That includes dry erase markers and highlighters! ColorCycle will eliminate placing hundreds of tons of markers into landfills.”
There do seem to be some limits, however, as far as I can tell, anyone can ship in a box of markers. “Any sturdy cardboard box with minimal outer markings will work. The more markers you ship, the more efficient this program will be. We suggest a minimum of 100 markers and a maximum of up to 40 pounds.”
This is a really good idea, especially if you are trying to find an economic friendly way to get markers or crayons out of your abode without throwing them in the trash

One more flight until I get home; overall an amazing trip. Sad I was never able to catch Gem, Pearl, Tango, Impulse, and Skizz, but my Dad got sick during the trip and it was more important to make sure he was okay. But getting to meet Grian, Scar (twice!!!), Ren, False, Cub, Aimsey, and Tubbo was amazing.
Watching MCC Twitch Rivals and seeing Scar win in person was a dream come true! I sat on the Pink Parrots side on the aisle, so I actually got to see them directly which was perfect.
But that being said, there were some issues :(

There were things that were super upsetting to see and hear; Scar being placed by a loud speaker and forcing him, someone with breathing difficulties, to raise his voice just to talk to his chat and the fact there was no ramp to the stage are the big ones. It honestly makes me not want to attend another event, since it clearly shows Twitchcon doesn't care about their own creators- You could tell Scar was getting out of breath from trying to talk so loud for us, and that was essentially the only solution Twitch offered. Not move the stereo or turn it off, just he needs to be louder. They also knew the hermits were accepting an award and that they were doing a participation game/event on the stage, which literally resulted in the entire Pink Parrots team being excluded from it, as none of the team members wanted to leave Scar by himself to watch right next to the stage.
Twitchcon staff forced them to leave their seats. I sat on their side and watched the staff adamantly tell them to go to the stage when they were the only team still at their seats, which probably just made it worse for Scar since staying on the side would had prevented him just waiting right at the stage. Again, he wasn't alone as Grian, Gem, and Fruit stayed at his side the entire time, but that doesn't change the fact that making them move there was a worse idea than just letting them stay at their seats. The main broadcast had to do angles to specifically avoid showing Pink Parrots standing in front of the stage and not participating. They are aware enough to know that it looks bad that they didn't make the activity accessible for Scar to try and avoid showing them, but not enough to rent or build a ramp. Honestly disgusting.
As someone who suffers from chronic pain (my back, shoulder, and ankle, all from serious injuries) and requires accessibility aids at times, it was honestly just disheartening to watch. Scar was not treated well at all and I really hope he talks about it properly at some point.
Again, overall, the event was fun to watch, but still very upsetting and disheartening to witness with these issues, and there were more issues than just these (I just didn't personally witness them, so I don't think I can talk about it without assumptions being made. I recommend checking Cherrifire's twitter thread for the accessibility and security issues during the impromptu Jimmy, Grian, and Gem meet and greet that happened during the Hermitcraft panel since they witnessed it if you want to hear another example of Twitchcon dropping the ball).
But try not to let it damper the hermits' award and Pink Parrots' win though; they worked their butts off and it deserves to be recognized and celebrated. Twitchcon's faults should not overshadow their successes!
I was asked if I could post screenshots of Cherri's thread for non-Twitter users, so here you go! Honestly should had done that from the start, but I forgot and was exhausted from an overnight flight.
Another thing I realized I could speak on is the meet and greet for Scar, False, Cub, and Ren; the staff was all over the place and confused lines so poorly that one of the people I met in the line was all the way in the back despite joining the waiting line immediately after the other hermits' meet and greet. For context, I joined the line 45 minutes before Scar's meet and greet, and she was right beside me despite being there for several hours.
Essentially, from what we managed to put together, Twitchcon staff confused the 2 waiting lines and sent the wrong line first. Meaning people who had already been waiting for hours for the second hermit meet and greet would now be the last people to see them, while those who got there later got to see them first. This was a problem primarily because there were SO MANY of us. While those people got to talk to the group for 3 or so minutes each, the rest of us only got 30 seconds to try to get something signed, a photo, and thats it. My meet and greet with them was 23 seconds long, which I know because my Dad had decided to record the interaction, so we are not overexaggerating when we say most of us only got to meet them for 30 seconds.
To be fair, there was a lot of us, so the change in time can't really be blamed on the staff. We were already over the 6pm end time, and the hermits needed to call it a night to rest afterall. I'm incredibly grateful that the hermits and staff stayed until everyone was seen.
What was Twitchcon's fault was their miscommunication to us. We were told by several staff that the hermits had a firm 6pm cut off, and once it hit 6, we would be sent home. The friend I mentioned earlier was distressed by this, considering she had been waiting so much longer than the rest of us in our group. And when we pressed for more information, the staff kinda just told us it was tough luck.
Once we were moved to the actual line, we met with the manager of the meet and greet line and asked her about it, and she was adamant that everyone in line would meet them and that no one would be turned away. She looked a little upset that we were even told otherwise (and she was kind enough to get my Scarland artbook signed for me while I waited in line to help things move along. Honestly, out of all the staff, she was just trying her best).
It seemed like the staff was purposely telling us incorrect information in hopes we would just leave the line early. This also adds up with some other stuff I've heard from other meet and greets; where fans were told the meet and greet was over because the creator wasn't feeling well, when the creator had not asked staff to end the meet and greet early and only found out after the fact.
I understand that staff was not expecting to stay after 6pm. I understand that the staff present in the area was not responsible for the amount of us that were given the RSVP to meet the hermits.
But the way they treated us, with the line mix up, telling us incorrect information, adamently telling us and the hermits not to sign anything and just take a photo and move on (which was mostly ignored by everyone thankfully) was overall a mess. There was no real accountability for any of the mistakes either, especially when it came to my friend who should had seen the hermits long before the rest of our group had. No apology or a proper explanation, just thats how it was.
I want to stress that I am incredibly grateful for the very short amount of time I spent meeting the hermits. Its not their fault things got messed up, and they were doing their best while exhausted from a full day. They were incredibly nice and didn't even rush any of us.
I just also understand why so many fans are disappointed considering everything that happened.
