Wednesday.

Always the most boring day of the week, Diluc had thought.

This is from chapter 2 of my dilucrose fic, a wip I’ve had since late February… I don’t have a lot of wips since I tend to finish works for the blog in either one or two sittings or not at all.

Challenge 1: Your Capall Uisce

My name is Eleth. I Have owned a capall uisce for three years now, although last year a sudden sickness convinced me not to race that year- I know I would have died if I did.

     My capall’s name is Gealach, named so for the crescent moon-shaped mark of black on her flank. Gealach is a rare piebald capall, though her spots of black are few and far between, concentrated on her face and flank. The first year I had her, she was only capall uisce in appearance, not personality.

She was not aggressive, but very sweet, though I still kept my guard up just in case.

    Last year, she got the memo, and ,come October, became just as flesh-hungry and aggressive as the rest of them. Perhaps not as aggressive as Skata, another piebald, was said to be, but enough to be wary of.

    This morning, I grab a bloody bucket of food and my affectionately named “fairy crop”, named so for the iron attached to it, and go to the pasture I keep the mare in. In the morning sunlight her white coat gleams in the likeness of an angelic being- though water horses are anything but. I dump the blood-soaked feed into a trough, crop held between my arm and my torso incase Gealach decides the human on the other side looks like a much more tempting meal.

    I plan to actually ride again this year, and not get sick- or killed.
