Sweet Nothings had always been a special place to the Hayes family. Noelle and her sister, Agnes used to visit the shop with their parents every Sunday to get treats. It was at Sweet Nothings that Noelle had found her love for baking, and she was sure it was where Agnes had found it too. For as long as Noelle could remember, Agnes continued to say that one day she would buy Sweet Nothings. It was a dream that Noelle was happy to let her sister have and she encouraged her all the time! She knew Agnes would be so happy running something like that.
Noelle had other dreams, though. It was a dream of hers to get married, have children, and become a school teacher someday. She’d always been so nurturing and loved babysitting and tutoring others in school, so she felt she would be good at it!
As the years went by and Noelle was finally looking into college, she ended up meeting a man she thought she’d be with forever. They were expecting right before the end of high school, and by the time they were married, they already had their daughter. So, needless to say, Noelle’s plans to go to college were on hold.
They were a happy family of three after her daughter was born, and when she got a little older, Noelle started looking into attending classes at Aurora Bay college. Noelle was so close to having everything she’d ever wanted, Agnes had two beautiful daughters of her own and she was working towards buying the bakery since the owners were wanting to retire, and everything was perfect.
Until the day Noelle got a phone call.
Agnes was hit by a drunk driver and died later that night, and everything changed. Noelle was grieving the loss of her sister- her best friend, she was trying to be there for her own daughter, and she was trying to be there for her nieces. And in spending so much time with her girls, she wasn't spending enough with her husband.
There was so much- too much happening and it eventually tore Noelle and her husband apart. It took a long time for Noelle to grieve and move on, and when she heard the owners of Sweet Nothings were finally putting it up for sale, she decided to take all the money she’d saved up for school tuition and she bought the bakery to honor Agnes.
Noelle has been running the bakery for years now, she’s befriended just about half the town, her daughter is in her twenties and they have a wonderful relationship. Noelle has also had an amazing relationship with her nieces as well, especially Liza, who works with her at the bakery. Things have finally started to work out, and though it hasn’t been what Noelle expected, she is happier than she ever thought she’d be.
