Sorry for the neglect!
Hey Tumblr. It’s been a while.
Not only are we rolling, we’re close to the end! Make your and my (and Logan’s) dreams come true. Gonna do a big dump of some of the stuff we’ve been working on. Plus more!

A Slight Delay!
Greetings ye faithful,
Rest assured, I bring you good tidings. I know we were scheduled to launch this week, but we'll be delaying a short while to do this right. The exact date will remain a mystery for now, but it'll be soon. And as much as we wanted to launch on the Ides of March for Shakespeare's sake, we're pushing back for a few reasons:
1. PR. We had hired someone to do some outreach for us, but it didn't work out as planned. We're talking to a new PR person who has a lot more experience on some of the biggest original comics Kickstarters to date, and as we'd like to be one of them, we're delaying until he can get a strategy together. We're talking announcements on major media outlets, your favorite comic book sites, podcasts, the whole nine. More to come on that front soon.
2. Promotional art. As you know, we hired some of the best artists in comics to do promo art and variant covers. Most are complete, but some need a little more time in the hopper. As much as we like showing you works in progress, we want things to be totally donezo before taking it to the world. It'll be worth it.
3. Reassessing the budget and strategy. We had announced that our initial goal was $40k, and while we believe we can hit that, we're going to lower it significantly in order to attain something more manageable early, then hopefully get a second wind, so to speak, and blaze right past it. We want this book to happen first and foremost, and we want all our cool rewards to go along with it. Our hope is to create a super professional product where everyone is paid fairly, but we're also cool taking a gamble in the hopes that it'll come back around in a good way.
Ok. That's about it. We're still going to do weekly contests on the mailing list. So join that today if you want to win.
If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended.
A new contest is born! Campaign launches one week from tomorrow!
Greetings ye faithful,
We’re a little over a week until the Ides of March, and we’re battening down the hatches for the big campaign, so stay tuned.
I’ve been doing script tweaks and going over it with our editor extraordinaire Matt Murray, and we think you’re really going to like it. It’s really become a lot more than the original Batman parody would have it suggest. I’ve been putting together our video with After Effects wizard, my occasional writing partner and Dragon Ball Fighterz rival, Juan Bayardo too. It’s super slick and professional. I’ve also updated the No Holds Bard website, so it looks good and is SEO’d and everything, so share that around if you can.
If you have a podcast, run a comics or Shakespeare website, or like to stand on the corner yelling out of a bullhorn, Logan and I want to talk to you about the project, life, anything really. We’re good guests with lots of interesting stories and opinions and stuff, and we want to hock this book as hard and as far as possible.
Since the response to the mailing list has been so positive, I moved the T-shirt contest up to this morning, so check your email to see if you’ve won and get back to me so I can send you your prize. If you haven’t signed up yet, not to worry, join today to be entered into our next contest for FOUR (count ‘em, FOUR) lithographs from our first campaign. We have a couple of these, so I’ll say there’ll be 3 winners this time! Same time next week? Ok. Good. And tell your friends to join too (or I guess, logically, don’t, if you want to maximize your chances of winning, but it would still be cool if you did)!
Beautiful, right? These are from Dave Kloc (Designer of The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail and Foo Fighters posters), Sina Grace (Self-Obsessed and writer of Marvel’s Iceman), Bobby Rubio (Avatar: The Last Airbender and Pixar story artist), and Ashlyn Anstee (Children’s book illustrator and storyboard artist extraordinaire)! These lithos measure 9″x12″ and would look great on any wall that would have them. Oh yeah, that reminds me. These four pin-ups will make up our first STRETCH GOAL, to be put with the variants in the back of the book. So that’s pretty cool.
Ok, that’s it for now. Expect to hear something else from me soon.
Love ya, Eric
William Shakespeare stars in No Holds Bard, a wildly inventive, original graphic novel by Eric Gladstone and Logan Faerber. Kickstarter Launches March 15!
I’ve been overhauling the website, so now it is good. Join the mailing list and maybe win a t-shirt!
Two weeks out! Full steam ahead! Join the Fight!
Greetings everybody,
Eric here with a quick update. We're a exactly two weeks away from our big campaign, and as nervous as I am, I couldn't be more pumped.
I did meet Logan last week, and it turns out he's a great guy. We were talking, and he sent new designs for our rewards our new sticker 2-pack, and socks!
These are going to be sticky and comfy, respectively. The sticker 2-pack is going to be our first physical reward at $10. I'm adjusting prices and stuff on everything else, and let's just say you're going to get a lot of bang for your buck.
I think we need to do some physical advertising to get more eyes on this thing. We're going to print some postcards and send them out to comic book shops and theater troupes. If you want to be part of the Street Team, let me know, I'll send you some, just promise to pass 'em along to potentially interested parties.
My business manager person told me I needed a call to action on my updates and ads, so last night I taught myself how to set up MailChimp (you know, from Serial), and now we have a real-deal mailing list. Join it here. We're going to give away a bunch of stuff, including some of those t-shirts I was telling you about, so don't tarry!
Movin’ stuff around
Hey folks, if you haven’t seen, I’m currently constructing an all-new all-different website for No Holds Bard. It’ll have everything you could possibly want, and more! Blogging will be done here and on the Kickstarter site, and maybe a little bit on Facebook.

New Variant Cover Gallery Artist Announcement! Launch Date Clarification! Social Media!
Hello everyone, and happy new comic book day!
Big announcement as the one and only Ming Doyle is joining the Murderers’ Row that is the No Holds Bard variant cover gallery. Logan and I are huge fans of her work on Mara, Adventure Time, Constantine: The Hellblazer, and much more, and we hope you’re as thrilled as we are to have her aboard. All of these covers and more will be available for purchase as high quality prints on our Backerkit page.
We’ve carved out the official date for our Kickstarter launch as March 15 (beware the ides of March)! If all goes according to plan, that should put the book in your hands around October. I know that seems like a long way away, but we swear it’ll be worth it.
Please follow our Twitter @BardComic for daily updates, and we have other social media outlets too. We're happy to be partnering with GeekChic Promotions who will be helping us with our big marketing push starting on Valentine's Day.
More announcements next week!
