Beast!Dazai is, first and foremost, the main actor of his own play. Everything moves according to his scrip and every beat is at his pace, that's why he calls every single point of his play " acts 1, 2, 3 and the end ", and he has planned every step along the way, from how he'd pick Atsushi over Akutagawa, how Oda would mentor Akutagawa and how his meeting with Oda would be at the bar while both Atsushi and Akutagawa were fighting.
The only thing that wasn't on script was the conversation he'd have with Oda, why? Because he wanted that particular scene to be genuine, to be as raw as it could be, so that he could revive what he was wanting for so long... In a way, he knew Oda wouldn't react nicely about it... after all, he did put Akutagawa through an immense family related grief, which did not fly well with Oda who is deep down a man oriented by the bonds of family be it from parent to a child or brother to a younger sibling.
Either way, Dazai was ready for the outcome of that conversation, the plan had been in motion already and there was nothing anyone could say or do that would change the ending scene. Dazai bows down on his last scene and jumps to his ultimate demise... everything was all according to his plan, the exact way he intended to... the fall of the main actor.
In this what I'm trying to say is that my Beast!Dazai is a pool of personalities, he is what he needs to be at that moment and lacks the genuine factor of himself. He shows happiness, he shows some type of sorrow, he gets lost in thought, he seems to be a cruel merciless Mafia Boss? But, in reality? It's all part of his characters for his play. He doesn't really have something going on... except when he spoke to Odasaku.
