  a mutation.  a disease.  some disorder.  on a genetic level she does not and cannot aged.  her features frozen in time.  she stopped the aging process when she turned thirty years old,  the need for blood begin soon after.  the desire.  to consume.  to drink.  nothing else could deter these cravings and distinct hunger panes that often left her on the verge of madness.  overtime she’s had many faces and identities traced from nation to nation,  for centuries.  clinging to both war and revolution because both were in her nature.  war is what she knows.  she leads the house of inferi,  translates as the army of the dead.  whilst pocketing money from the private military company she oversees as an invisible presence,  using the finance from the lucrative business to support and aid her house of vampires.

each tribe has a potential contender to challenge the throne,  even though by law,  anyone in the significant families are legible to challenge.  generally speaking,  the choice falls to the oldest within the highest ranking family of each tribe  /  mining,  border,  merchant, and river.  they’re often closely-linked to the royal family,  have a family member on the council:  either a parent or grandparent,  or in the process of being trained to take on a position within the council themselves.  these individuals are trained in combat and multiple fighting styles,  in order to overthrow their opponents.  for jikela as the second oldest son,  he was never the contender.  but his oldest brother was.  his grandmother,  currently,  stands on the council.

*  for the border tribe,  the choice contender had been w’kabi.  for the river tribe,  prior to her leaving,  it had been nakia.

A HISTORY LESSON

THE THOMPSON family is and always had been old-money.  the kind of money one can trace back through ancestry.  black elitists of the south.  their growing wealth,  on paper,  acquired from property obtained by free blacks prior to the civil war.  but the lineage through financial gain and prosperity has been through the arts.  through magic carried down from generations to generations,  directly from slaves.  the last witch in her family,  with abilities to move objects with her mind,   before her was her great-grandmother,  presence burned from the family tree.  no one talks about her,  but the rumors remain behind in veiled darkness.  the secrets still there and she looks for them.  finding pieces of evidence strung throughout the mansion.  in the graveyards behind her family house,  written on old tomb stones.  the answers were and had always been around her.    

even though the current thompsons have disassociated themselves completely from their past.  money breeds money and that money was funded into creating one of the biggest mega-churches in the south. FAITH WORSHIP //  with over 7, 000 members,  private planes,  and a direct hand into the community,  they’ve well-established their name over time.  it’s a multi-effort with the aid of the family hiring staff members into their dynasty.  secretaries.  deacons.  board of directors.   overseers of financial decisions and treasury.  youth programs.  community centers through the southern region.  business partners with deals in television and radio.  charity events.  magazine articles and frequent photo-shoots.  a presence in and out of the church.  the head of the family,  her father,  the current bishop, aided by her two oldest brothers.  her mother,  the lady of the church, and her sister,  the overseer of the youth studies.  entwining religion,  money,  and business.  blurring the lines between the three as well.

it was not a kidnapping.  she ran away.  it’s what they tell the news outlets.  the curious media.
