Alma watched as he came back as she sat up. She pushed her hair out of her face with a low huff to watch him come back with water and pills. She took the pills to look them over before she popped them in her mouth and took a drink of water.

“Alright, since you used that tone with me,” she said to rest the water on the nightstand and laced her hands together on her lap. “Is this where you try to make chicken soup?” she asked and narrowed her eyes.

while a part of him wished she wasn’t always so hard on him, the other wondered if he’d be as interested if she wasn’t. after all, he never enjoyed when things came too easy on him---- and while she did very much enjoy the singer’s company, there was something about the challenge that made her all that much more alluring. 

a light chuckle escaped the former assassin’s lips. “ do i look like a guy that knows how to cook? “ he’d been to busy target shooting for that. his housekeeper, josefina, usually meal-prepped for him for the week. “ besides, you’re vegetarian---- should i order in some lentil or tomato soup? or whatever kind of soup your people eat while you’re sick. “

It was only seconds ago when Louis coiled his fingers into his target’s hair. Only a few seconds ago when he slid out his knife, noting that if he was seen in Brooklyn again worse would come. 

Of course, Louis did not want to be seen lingering in the same area in the aftermath. That’s just something you didn’t do after a moment of intimidation. You go in and out like a Ghost. All the same, in a relaxed state, shoulders roll with indifference.

so he did see the zip-log bag? at this point, vincent was so intoxicated he became convinced the other man had taken it. why had he expected any different in brooklyn? it wasn’t as if he couldn’t afford another gram, but to call his dealer, wait an hour for him to answer, then another hour for him to deliver it... no. it was too much of a hassle when he knew the bag was there.

He had pressed his hand on her forehead, and she had turned her head. She had a show and had slept in. Alma had always been a lousy sleeper, typically had about 4 to 5 hours of sleep at night or less, but this morning she had slept in. “It’s fine, my voice will be raspy tonight, people love that sound.”

Was she stubborn? Entirely, but she wanted to ignore the fatigue as much as possible. Also, she was not used to being taken care of. Most of her life, Alma has been on her own, and he came along, trying to prove her wrong. How dare he.

“Vincent, go, don’t you have some fancy real estate thing? Go do rich men things,” she waved her hand at him.

“ why do you have to be so stubborn? “ it wasn’t a surprise to him, after all, the brunette had not made things easy on him at all. she seemed to like keeping people at arm’s distance, not that he could blame her, after all that was a habit of his as well. though how could it not be given his history?

he only chuckled with a roll of his eyes at her question. “ stay, “ he demanded, sliding off the bed and making his way to the kitchen to grab some water and tylenol. it wasn’t every day he took care of a sick person---- or ever, for that matter. but he didn’t mind. he liked alma and genuinely wanted the best for her. 

“ here you go, “ he said, handing her the glass of water and pills. “ and don’t worry about my rich men things; that can wait. “

Alma rolled her eyes as she looked away with a smile. This was a rare sight to be seen from the brunette. There were a lot of things she didn’t believe, she took compliments, but it was another for them to hold true. Music was one of those things she was entirely involved in; she exposed bits of herself, which was strange when someone had been intimate with took notice. “Right, well, thanks,” she said with a small scoff from her lips. She rubbed her arm as she looked at him. “Wanna see the green room? It’s horribly small, quite the quaint place,” she said in a fake bright voice.

“ i mean it, you were great. “ she wasn’t as difficult to read as she seemed to think she was, yet still, she was more difficult to read than most. he could definitely tell something was off but he hadn’t quite put his finger on it. “ i’d love to see it, lead the way? “ he replied, gesturing for her to walk past him.
