There has now been a lapse of one year since my relocation to the ‘Peach State’ being Georgia, United States of America, North America. This post is finite and serves as an update for you all. Thank you to the @morrismuseumoart and their representative “Peter Stitt” for hosting me at the end of #Thanksgiving weekend. The depictions I’ve chosen are those that were displayed as my favorites only in the main exhibit of which I could only absorb a fraction of. My purity is transparent by my intrigue of “Surprise Attack” by John Mooney created from his memory above the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry. (3) “Chrysanthemums in a Devil Vase” by Elliott Dangerfield who was born in Harpers Ferry created this in 1886. The flower had become associated with death since it was chosen for gravesites in European cultures, but it is now known as “the Queen of fall flowers”. (4) Titled “Rock Shop Billboard” in just 2007 painted by “Julyan Davis”. Please do not feel forced to turn to the Bible verse reference. (6) “Bowl” undated if not by “Sonja Blomdahl”. (7) I love this piece created on aluminum in 1992 by “Ida Kohlmeyer” and I immediately visualized it in my foyer or other open area. It reminds me of my first childhood bedroom walls which were hand painted meticulously. (8) Both works are titled with the words ‘yellow parasol’. (9) “Three Part Geode” (circa 1995) by “Leon Applebaum”. ————— The pink walls indicate the relevant 19th Century and from recollection names like Cooke, Coke Tilyard, and Sully arise. Great thanks to the @gertrudeherbertart for hosting me as their guest to tour the #WaresFolly property. Completed in 1818 by Senator Nicholas Ware and resold for the Augusta Art Club in 1937 it was dedicated by club member Olivia Herbert in memoriam for her daughter Gertrude Herbert-Dunn. The still commonly local add-on effect (& ventilation vents installed to the flooring) were by Mrs. Herbert including a rear terrace and elevator, but what’s truly notable are the lack of closets and the staircase. Some of The “Augusta University” Art & Design Department’s latest works by “Chadwick Tolley” and others are picked by me for your visual enjoyment, but if you have time I could expect their bookshelves to include great reads for the inquisitive mind.
