Кыргызстан — это страна, где дорога не заканчивается, а начинается. Горы, озёра, юрты, тишина. И свобода, которую даёт только правильный автомобиль.

The deafening roar of 400-horsepower racing engines—followed by the absolute, ringing silence of ancient glaciers just a two-hour drive away.
This August, we are witnessing a historic contrast of speed and tradition: the World Nomad Games 2026 and the F1H2O Kyrgyzstan championship.
To transition from the massive adrenaline of the grandstands back to primeval tranquility, you need the right tool. No crowded tour buses. No fixed schedules.

Somewhere between the last gas station and the first glacier
the road stops being a road and starts being a conversation with the mountain.
The Lexus LX 470: When You Want Comfort and Capability in the Same 4x4
Some off‑road trips feel like an expedition. Others feel like a quiet drive through a postcard.
The Lexus LX 470 sits somewhere in between. You cross a river with the suspension raised high, then lower it and drive 100 km of highway in silence.
The V8 never struggles, even above 3,000 meters. The leather seats hold up after a week of yurt camping. And the 93‑liter tank means you stop thinking about gas between Kochkor and Son‑Kul.
It's not the cheapest rental. It might be the smartest.

Why the Toyota 4Runner Just Works for Kyrgyzstan
You don't need a tricked-out overland rig to explore Kyrgyzstan. Sometimes you just need something reliable, spacious, and unbothered by gravel.
The Toyota 4Runner is exactly that. We've sent it across the Kyzart Pass to Son-Kul, down the south shore of Issyk-Kul, and up to the red rocks of Jeti-Oguz. It never complained once.
No guardrails. No signal. Just a 4x4 that quietly does its job while you focus on the view.

Five Remote Places in Kyrgyzstan That Require a 4x4 and a Sense of Adventure
You don't visit Tash Rabat by accident. You drive for hours, the asphalt disappears, and then a stone caravanserai appears in a green valley with no one else around.
Kel-Suu demands a border permit and a high-clearance 4x4. When you finally see the turquoise water against dry mountains, you understand why.
Jyrgalan feels like the edge of the world — trekking trails, yurt stays, and nothing else.
Son-Kul is better known, but the gravel pass (3,350 m) keeps most tourists away. Yurt camps, horses, and a sky full of stars.
Saimaluu Tash is the hardest to reach. Thousands of petroglyphs scattered across a remote mountain plateau. Not for everyone. Perfect for those who make the effort.
All of them are reachable with a reliable 4x4. We rented from Nomad Car — delivered to the airport, no drama.

Driving Into the Sky: A Night at Son-Ku
l
You leave Bishkek in morning traffic. Two hours later, you are climbing a gravel road above the treeline, and the city already feels like something you made up.
The road to Son-Kul crosses the Kyzart Pass at 3,350 meters. There are no guardrails. There is no cell signal. There is a herd of horses standing in the middle of the track, and they are not moving.
You wait. They wait. Nobody is in a hurry. This is the rhythm now.
Son-Kul sits at 3,016 meters — a vast, flat lake surrounded by nothing but grass and sky. The yurts look like scattered pearls from above. At night, the herders burn dried dung for heat, and you fall asleep to a smell that is half campfire, half something ancient you cannot name.
Dawn comes without a sound. The lake shifts from black to silver to pale blue. The mountains behind it catch the first light on their peaks. For a few minutes, everything holds still.
Then a horse walks past your yurt, close enough to touch. And the day begins.
We drove a Toyota 4Runner from Bishkek — delivered to the airport by Nomad Car Rental. The kind of trip where the vehicle matters as much as the view, because if the car cannot handle the pass, you never see the lake.
Some roads are not about the destination. They are the whole point.
