it’s so crazy having a follower base on tumblr knowing full well it’s not based on selfies or anything like people are here for your crazy twisted mind. i feel like nietzsche
I know he is the villain or whatever but every time he is on the screen my brain just starts playing vegas (I wanna ride) by joseline hernandez
PM Jeongwoo decided to put on his evil turtle neck today...
TV execs believes that women will watch any garbage as long as it is romance.
The abolishing of the monarchy arc makes sense only because we have no idea what the monarchy in thier universe does even..... We knew that they were more of a figure head to begin with but most monarch in the real world have some form of veto power or the responsibility to approve laws that are passed by the legislative department of the country. Here we didn't see them do any of that.
As far as we can see all that the royal family does is go get photographed at events and present awards I guess.
It was also important in the show to show us that it is nothing bad going on in the world. Because if there was something any kind of problem. Like income inquality or any kind of real socio political problem it would be now the kings responsibility to do something about it. It is important for them to show us that there are no problems so that it makes logical sense to give up this much power when you can do real good with it.
The story makes it seem like the only issue that there is the difference between nobles and non nobels. Which means in the end when he does give up the power for no reason... It has me asking
What about the poor people
Because as king that is no way that he has no power to affect any kind of social change at all. There if he was actually king he would have had to work to fix things like social inequality or crimes against women, corruption in the legislative or judicial department of the country... All of which he had the power to work towards fixing but he doesn't.
None of any of that is ever mentioned because show makers believe that women are idiots who will watch anything.... So any show that is aimed towards women can be any kind of garbage with no logic no sense or no function. The show was a disappointment. I am going to be sad about the time that I wasted watching it.
If they had decided to make a romantic drama and they had stuck with making a romantic drama I would not have judge it so harshly. But since I want to make it a political intrigue show I will judge it as such.
And as a political show our leads are powerless useless figureheads who waste the very real opportunity given to them to improve the world and squander it in the name of "freedom".
The imperfect Parents of Perfect Crown
Prime Minister's dead father who greatly influenced his choices in life. The angle was abandoned i feel. The weight of being the son of the best Prime Minister in the country's history is hinted at but never truly explored.
Hui-ju and Tae-ju's father who raised her to become tough. A girl dad whenever his daughter needed him. He always cautioned Hui-ju when she needed intervention. He caused great damage to Hui-ju's self confidence in her youth because of his harsh nature but became a soft parent when she actually was in a position that was very out of her control. No mention of what Tae-ju feels about his father bareing an illegitimate child with another woman is ever explored. The feelings remain amicable, which I found interesting.
Yi Wan's father who punished him for being a bright star, because as the spare - he could not chase the spotlight. Much of Yi Wan's arc revolves around regaining his footing as a person after being knocked down by his father.
His mother is mentioned on in the early episodes and majorly abandoned after Hui-ju getting poisoned arc. She serves as the only figure who showererd Yi Wan with love and affection in his early life, who contributed greatly to his moral compass and character.
Yi Yun's father, who tried to protect his son by trying to take away the weight of the crown from his shoulders. A father whose jaded and tired soul made it hard for him to achieve what he wanted. - A greater reflection of why he was never supposed to be a great king anyway. He serves as a tragic figure in the heart of his son. A child who grew up too fast.
The father who flew too close to the sun. Yun I-Rang's father in his lust for power manipulated his son-in-law, his daughter and his grandson. His influence in their lives led to the many 'sins' of I-rang, the death of his son-in-law and the rise of Yi Yun to becoming the King.
What goes up, must come down. Seong Won gets trapped in his web and gets thrown under the bus for actions taken by him and his associates. His daughter is influenced by his actions, initially, becoming like him later diverging from his path. His daughter betrays him and protects her son and her freedom.
Yi Yun's mother, who thought that protecting her child was waging war with the world and rising to the top. But when faced with the reality of her actions in the tears of her child, her course correction is one for the books.
This show was much more about parental trauma and becoming your own person and how love can help you become one, rather than a romantic comedy. I wish the true complexity of a parent-child relationship was clearly explored in any of the relationships. The truth is,
They names Yi Wan King Sungjo? It's too similar to the actual last king's name (Sunjong of Korea)
I don't want to be single, I want to put my head in someone's lap.
She is finally free so we see her with her hair curled ever so slightly.
Will she remarry? That would be a fun spin-off. Romance of the Eternal Widow.
Meanwhile, its wholesome to see her life her best life as a tiger mom.

Actually unhappy by how cartoonish he became as a villain
Even though the actor gave a very good performance, the substance just wasn't there. How can a person who has never stepped out of line all of a sudden turn in a murderous shark? Also no scene that gives us any sense of remorse or even what happens to him 3 years later. Was he executed for high treason? The son of the best prime minister going down as a murderer who committed regicide for unrealised passion? Make it make sense.
Is Gunahon ka Devta, India's straight call me by your name?
Is this not the cutest cup of coffee ever?!
So far my onky criticism of Perfect Crown is that its love story ran a little fast for it to be completely believeable. And the prime minister just became a remorseless villain who is wiling to kill very very suddenly.
Thats all tbh.
"I'm sweating like a pig": scientifically innacurate (pigs don't sweat), mean (kind of implies you think pigs are gross :( not cool dawg)
"I'm sweating like a motherfucker: realistic. you probably would sweat if you fucked someone's mother. implies you've got game
