i firmly believe that one of the reasons tumblr latched onto project hail mary so hard is because we're all so obsessed with the dead wife trope lately and grace is his own dead wife. half of the book/film is grace experiencing a dead wife montage about himself and that's beautiful to me

Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.

If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.

rly like the idea of Q having to locate Bond for some reason but hes not answering his phone maybe??? or maybe he just gets too used to going right to casually violating his privacy lmao anyway he pulls up his gps tracking and its like ? hes in some random-ass place ?

and then Q pings his. idk. it doesn't make sense for Bond to have a camera and mic like a mic'd up pets situation, but. idk maybe somehow he does.

anyway whatever the specifics- turns out Bond is exploring public footpaths around the UK. not any specific ones just like picking one and following it and seeing where it takes him. he is doing the foresty equivalent of being a splish splash princess. he is experiencing ✨️joie de vivre✨️

CRITICALLY important that I reblog all the discussion happening in the replies:

I am obsessed with this.

I go feral for anything involving Q and Bond being insane people with no boundaries, to the point that it should honestly be concerning, except this whole thing somehow loops back around and makes both of them more psychologically healthy/stable somehow????

Q enjoys the reassurance that comes from having a digital hand on Bond's arm at all times and a leash around Bond's neck, even though they both know Bond can slip the leash if he really wants to.

Bond enjoys knowing that Q wants to keep tabs on him simply to make sure he's OK. (In the vein of, 'I need to make sure my cat isn't wandering into traffic or eating plastic', not 'I need to make sure my agent isn't doing unauthorized activities'. Bond knows and appreciates the difference, and that is why he happily accepts a leash from Q, but nobody else!)

Both of them interpret this (the digital leash/the acceptance thereof) as an expression of sincere, abiding devotion.

The few people at MI6 who know about it find it all....deeply questionable, but frankly, the less they know about all this the happier they'll be, thanks.

Bond absolutely does make a point of doing extra Fun Enrichment Activities for himself, like nature walks, purely for the purpose of giving something Q something pretty and relaxing to look at when he switches into Bond's monitor! (This turns out to be highly beneficial for both Bond and Q's mental health. Again, this should not, by rights, be healthy for anyone, and yet.)

And yes: if Bond wants to do something he knows Q won't approve of, he simply goes 😌 and covers the camera with his hand, and then Commits Crimes as he pleases, and waits for Q to catch on to what happened, crosscheck what's happening on the nearest CCTV or satellite or stolen drone footage, and then call him up and scold him about it.
