I know it’s okay to not be okay.
But I’m so tired of not being okay.
“For the moment I am really very, very tired of everything - more than tired.”
— Friedrich Nietzsche
“I will breathe. I will think of solutions. I will not let my worry control me. I will not let my stress level break me. I will simply breathe. And it will be OK.”
— Shayne McClendon
As you may know, Post it Forward was created to reinforce something Tumblr users had been doing on their own for years: being open, being kind, and offering support. For many people—particularly young people—it has been a safe haven for openly discussing issues that matter, especially issues pertaining to mental health. From Issue Time question and answer segments with licensed psychiatrists to celebrating Mental Health Month year after year, we’ve been committed to talking about things that matter since 2015.
That’s why we’re so excited to honor World Mental Health Day on Wednesday, October 10.
This year we paid homage to the day by partnering with Made of Millions, a grassroots mental health platform, for Seen: A Mental Health Exhibition. Featuring photography of Rose Cartwright by artist Yumna Al-Arashi, the premiere of their short film Mindstory, and incredible AR-enabled work from some hand-picked Tumblr Creatrs (@creatrs), this exhibit aimed to explore how the digital world can keep people from suffering in silence. You can see some of the pictures of the event above.
It’s important to be seen. And we see you, Tumblr. Stay tuned here to @postitforward. We’re going to reblog some posts that speak to mental health and self care all day long. Want to join in the discussion? Tag your posts with #postitforward so it’s easy for the rest of the community to find you and interact.
And remember, there are resources out there if you need them. It’s okay to use any help you can get.
Ditch the Label (@ditchthelabel) is one of the largest international anti-bullying projects. It offers free support for anyone who signs up for their community. It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s there for you.
It Gets Better (@itgetsbetterproject) gives support for members of the LGBTQ+ community who want it.
It’s Ok To Talk is a safe space to share your experiences with mental health, mental illness and wellbeing.
And of course, Made of Millions is an amazing new 501c3 grassroots mental health non-profit launching on World Mental Health Day.
Take care of yourself, Tumblr. You deserve it.
“I know how everyone else’s life Is supposed to fly by Then someone turns and says What about you? And I stand here Mouth open Mind blank This should have all work itself out by now The map of my life should be clear and precise With little red dashes and circles so nice Showing roadblocks And landmines Oh, I am not unbreakable I am breaking right now Maybe everyone can’t have the dream Maybe everyone can’t kiss the frog Maybe it’ll be me and a dog And the little stuff dolphins on the floor And a little dog door Oh, I am not unbreakable I am breaking right now I need to be unbreakable Somehow, it’s never Or now”
— Violet, Unbreakable from Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Skinny by October 🍂
Disclaimer: this is for my personal motivation to lose weight before October starts. Possibly triggering 🤚
🍁 Thinner face = prettier me. Some people look gorgeous with chubbier faces, but I certainly DO NOT. Little cheek fat, sharp jawline and more visible cheek bones are what I’m here for.
🍁 I also wear glasses in class and they’ll look so much more flattering if I have a slim face
🍁 I’m really into fashion, so I’m doing it to look better in clothes. No more hiding my thighs under skirts- this fall, I’m wearing all kinds of jeans that will look good on my thin legs and small butt ^^
🍁 I feel uncomfortable when I sit down and see how ridiculously huge my thighs get. I used to be thin, so I know that once I lose the weight, it won’t be such a problem anymore *.*
🍁 Smaller stomach = lower appetite = less food = more money to buy other things
🍁 Shopping for clothes will be enjoyable since the only problem will be that something is too big on me, not that I look fat in it
🍁 I won’t be so reluctant to take photos since I don’t have to worry about looking bad in them
🍁 Getting to my goal weight will help me practice self control, consistency and organisation skills, all of which come in handy at uni
🍁 I will finally fit the fall aesthetics- bony fingers wrapped around a cup of coffee, an oversized sweater that shows my prominent collarbones, long thin beautiful legs in fall boots and colourful leaves everywhere
🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁
Let’s do this 😻
I’m back. I’ve missed this place. A lot.

These are some of them, most were golden retrivers and labradors, but also included german shepherds and other breeds. Sadly most are dead now, while many people forget them and don’t spare them a thought.
As people lay dying, trapped and hurt, a team of nearly 100 loyal and courageous search dogs put their lives on the line to help humans. Without them, many more would not have survived, yet few people consider them.
In such a chaotic, terrifying, hot, acrid-smelling, smokey and loud environment, countless human lives depended on their ability to focus, listen, respond to their handlers, and work tirelessly. Stepping over cracked glass, hot tarmac, through flames and thick smoke, being winched over deep ravines, they battled on to seek out survivors and bring them aid.
They worked around the clock, day and night, searching, sniffing, over and over. Not only did they search, but they comforted - many eyewitnesses speak of how the dogs would stop and sit by newly-recovered victims, giving them a sense of hope and relief, before moving on to look for the next. As the situation became desperate, and the rescue workers and fire teams became utterly distraught at the amount of people who were recovered dead, these dogs brought them comfort, sitting with them on breaks, letting them grieve.
Many of these dogs are old, and have passed away. Let us remember the courage and loyalty they showed at such a horrendous event. They didn’t have a choice, but nonetheless they did what was asked of them and helped save countless lives. Don’t let their bravery be forgotten today either, or their determination to be a ‘good dog’ despite the scary and dangerous environment around them.
And let’s not forget that these dogs actually became depressed when they kept finding dead bodies; they thought they were failing to save people. The workers helping had to hide in the ruble just to let the dogs find a living person and lift their spirits.
