So, I reread Bloom into You.
We know that Yuu is confused about love and relationships. She had never feel the excitement of love even when someone confessed to her. Until Touko finally leaned on her, asked her to stay and kissed her. Her feelings slowly changed, she finally felt something. But then, she learnt Touko’s motive who later said that she doesn’t want to be her real self as Yuu proposed, rather want Yuu to support her and stay by her side without loving her. Now, Yuu might seem a bit naive here, but her kindness keeps her there. Day by day, her blooming feelings towards Touko is harder to be repressed.
Touko feel not only guilt on her sister death, but also pain when everyone else ask her to be like her sister, to do her best for the sake of her sister. And she decided that she will, but in exchange for that, she’ll have to bury her real self. She has to hide the excruciating pain being her sister. Well, from my view, Touko is attracted to Yuu because she needs someone who will just be there for her, someone who will help her to reach her goal no matter what happens. Someone who knows her flaws but will not hate nor love her for it. And Yuu is the perfect person for it. While being her “lover”, Yuu will remain a girl who can’t fall in love. That way, she’ll never hurt and get hurt. Kind of selfish, yes. Unfair, as Yuu says. But that’s the only way she’ll be able to feel comfort and care while she struggle achieving her goals of ‘being’ her sister.
Now, Sayaka is the girl who has always been with Touko on her ups and downs. Sayaka loves her because she knows that Touko deserve it. Touko is not the loser she think she is, or less worthy than her sister. But Sayaka doesn’t want to take the chances, she better just stay beside her and support her rather than pry and suffer the possibility of breaking their relationship. It is sad and painful on its own way, but that’s what she chose.
No one is wholly perfect for anyone else here. And no one is to be blamed for their reasons and choices of actions.
Now, from this point onward, it is just my view on the characters. ofc you guys will not agree lol. But Yuu deserves someone who loves her the way she is. Not because of her inability to fall in love, but because she deserves to be loved.
Sayaka loves Touko without question. Touko needs to realise that and take it into more consideration. She’s ready to bleed for her more than Yuu is. She is more accepting. She knows Touko’s flaws and will still do anything for her. Can you imagine how she’ll feel when she knows Touko actually chose Yuu? (I always sympathise with this kind of character lol)
But, as the story goes, of course the Touko x Yuu ship is the one that should sail. I just can’t wait how Nakatani Nio will take the story from this point.
One thing for sure, I have ordered first to third volume! This is the first time I ever buy a manga, because this masterpiece deserved it! Can’t wait for it to be delivered. I love you so much, Nakatani sensei!
