You're not whimsical and silly!! You're unsettling and you're scaring the hoes!!!!
One of my own species that I created as a kid. I've dived into my old drawings and I've found tons of ideas that I don't want to go to waste. This one is a prime example. His name is Concorde, my original idea was to make his species the fastest and most agile of all dragons.
And now, species introduction
Species: Rainbow Glider
Characteristics: Their striking iridescent scales make these dragons easy to identify. They can appear in any color, however they never bear markings, fades, spots, nor stripes. The underside of the wing membranes always highly differ from the scales' color, being brighter usually. These dragons fall under the category of smaller medium-sized dragons, their shoulder height being around only 1.7 - 1.8 m, their length nose to tail around 5 m and an impressive 11 m wingspan. The rainbow glider is the fastest known species of all time, being incredibly agile and graceful in the air, thanks to its' rather short tail and tail membranes. However they cannot keep up their high speed for an extended time, much like cheetahs, they preserve their energy and use it while chasing prey or escaping from threats. They spend most of their time flying, their wing shape making them perfect for gliding on air currents. These dragons only land for short periods, feeding their hatchlings, eating larger prey or sleeping. While they are the most gifted in flight, on the ground rainbow gliders are quite clumsy, running not being their strong suit.
Habitat: Mountains, cliffs. They tend to avoid large bodies of water, since these dragons can barely swim and if thrown into water, they drown within minutes. Hence their hooked claws, rainbow gliders can climb and hang onto rocky surfaces with ease, often building their nests on high, unreachable narrow caves and cliffsides. They live in small colonies of 6-10, building their nests close to each other.
Diet: Consists of birds, larger mammals.
Weapons: Rainbow gliders are not fire breathers. A pair of glands at the back of their jaws secrete a strong acid that the dragon can spit while attacking. The acid burns through organic matter and trying to rinse it off with water only quickens the reaction. A pair of retractable venomous fangs are located at the front part of the upper jaw. Rainbow glider venom has a mild paralytic effect, numbing the muscles on a large area around the bite. Depending on the position of the bite, it can be survived, although if it's close to vital organs, the effects it causes can lead to death.
