What pisses me off about all this kinktober discourse is that most people that complain ARENT EVEN IN THE FANDOM. DONT PARTICIPATE. DON'T NOTHING.
Most of caitvitwt was peaceful and nice FOR ONCE. And then proshippers come at something made BY MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY for OUR COMMUNITY, which most had already agreed upon and yall crash and harass and doxx the fuckin mods of the event JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE THE RULES.
Tf happened to dont like dont read??? Isn't that literally the base of "proship" and all "problematic" stuff??? Dont like so block and scroll past???? So, you know, you don't find people screaming a ton of shit at your face for not liking what you make.
Go.fucking implement it a go do your own kinktober with full noncon-proship-correctiverape-extremeagegap-whatever you want. No one is stopping you!!!!
Its a small event for a small community and the majority liked the rules regarding noncon, bc, you know, fandom context but maybe I (along with the majority of the caitvi fandom) don't like reading straight up rape. It wasn't pulled out of the mods' asses. IT HAD A FUCKIN REASON TO BE.

I have my differences with them but not because of that it warrants getting doxxed, getting harass, getting called a fuckin nazi (over not allowing noncon on an event??!?!?!) And idk how much else until they leave.
Whats your fucking purpose. I dont even think the main noncon writer of the caitvi fandom is saying anything like. Leave us THE FUCK ALONE.

But please let me explain why this is important to discuss outside of your specific fandom as well. And it is not at all about noncon or no-noncon.
You want an event without noncon? - No problem
You want an event that's f/f exclusive - No problem
You want an event where kink is approached very carefully and under certain rules? - No problem
You want a smut event that only happens with established relationships? - No problem
You want to call it kinktober - We are having a problem
Kinktober is a very specific event that celebrates kink in all it's forms and is inherently dark. It's in October for a reason because it was explicitly started with events like goretober. To put it a bit more crass: It's an event from freaks for freaks.
So holding a kinktober event brings a lot of history and expectations and responsibility with it, and what the mods are doing is this:
Kink is not inherently bad. But by putting up these rules, the mods are communicating that kink done in any other way is wrong and harmful and not based in reality.
They also facilitate the very harmful thought that fiction is the same as reality. They even mention something about writer/consumer roleplay - which apparently (correct me if I'm wrong) is supposed to mean that the writer of a smut/kink fic is trying to dominate the reader? Or something? It's so wild to me I don't even understand the full concept here.
And then there is these harmful rules in there that dictate how you have to think:
Vi is neither allowed to be too feminine nor too masculine or be a trans man Apparently too much make-up will do that already, when Vi canonically wears make-up (more make-up than Cait) This dictates how butch people feel (they try to claim they don't, but the result is that they do) - or at least strongly assume how Vi feels about her gender identity
They claim that if you follow their rules, you depict kink like it is done in real life which is inherently not true.
They claim that kink is only acceptable and not harmful if you do it like they put in their rules. Which is not true and a very harmful thing to say.
No power dynamics are allowed which completely goes against canon
The prompts are only allowed to be written in an established relationship which is... wild? You can have sex in a non-established relationship and you can do kink safely (as safe as you can do kink anyway) in a non-committed relationship. Even as a one-night stand. This also fosters the idea that certain sex practices are bad if not done in a very specific environment.
They claim to want to destigmatize kink but what they are doing is sanitizing it.
The kink community in real life does not work like that and they are spreading very harmful ideas with these rules.
You want a sanitized smut event? no problem. But don't bring harmful ideals and ideas to a pre-existing event that's here for celebrating something entirely different.
Please believe a person who grew up in fandom in times of the purges - policing how other people are allowed to write something is never good and always the start of a downward spiral.
While people are absolutely wrong to harass and doxx the mods, they are absolutely right to speak up about this.
Don't like, don't engage. Yes, absolutely and I hope honestly that the participation in that event is low because that's a very calm protest against this.
But you can't throw people out of spaces they have build for themselves, you need to create your own space for yourself.
