Do you have any advice for packing OC profile posts? Mine are extremely bare and I really want to fill that empty space with something.

hhhh i actually dont have any clue what im doing either loL but ill try my best!

if youre struggling with not having enough info to fill a profile, id suggest you start with a couple things:

look at other people's character profiles! reference reference reference! see what other people do that you like, see what you dont like, take notes on how they make theirs work, what youd change if you were making your own, etc. collect a list of ideas and fiddle with them to see what you want. you have no idea how much scrambling around and looking at what other people have come up with that i do every time to decide how to organize mine.

ask yourself what you want your profile for. are you making it for other people, to give them a sense of who your oc is? are you making it for yourself, so you have a quick "here's the basics" sheet that you can reference in case you forget details? are you trying to compile a masterlist of every single thing you know about your oc? do you want it to get deep into who they are or just summarize their character? do you want to document their surface-level traits or their psychology and their role in the story? how you answer will determine what kind of profile youre looking to make.

ask yourself why your profiles feel bare. what do you think is missing— can you name it? if you can, youre well on your way. if not, is it because you cant figure out what to put in there (if this is the answer, refer to point 1), or because you simply dont know enough about your ocs yet to fill it as much as you want? it might be an indicator that you need to spend some more time with them and do some more developing 🤷‍♀️

profiles are tricky to write— for everyone, i think. theyre super subjective and you can do pretty much anything you want with them. the fact that there isnt a single right way to make them can make it pretty daunting, but i think that's a decent place to start. id say the most important thing for you to do right now is to identify why it is that your profiles feel so bare, because if you cant do that, then youll always be unsatisfied with them.

3. What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

his name! names almost always come first for me :>

4. And reverse, which one of the four things did you struggle with the most?

...honestly? none of them that i can remember XD. alden clicked into place very quickly and smoothly. i picked his name, and that was the first inkling of his character. then when i decided to make him a whole person, i designed him using a little idea for a guy's hairstyle that id doodled on my notes a few days prior, and then as soon as i drew him his personality and role just came to me naturally. even coloring him for the first time was easy because i had a clear vision in my head for what i wanted. so i dont really have an answer to this question loL!

Elysium's base flavor is a blend of vanilla and mint, sometimes with a hint of rose. Different brands feature more of one flavor than another. Notably, Ardenhall Rosemint is very floral with minimal mint, District Nine has a very saturated mint flavor, and No. Four is almost bitter-vanilla. Some brands have other hints and aftertastes, too— Greystone & Sons is dull and dusky, whereas Skipbeat is almost candylike in flavor.

the problem with addiction is not that it's pleasurable. it's not "having too much fun" disease. it's not even a requirement for addiction that you have fun at any point in the process at all and to be honest it is incredibly common that no pleasure is gained from substance use. imagining that addiction is about pleasure does two things: 1) demonises feeling good (there is nothing wrong with wanting to be happy/comfortable/etc), and 2) frames addicts as people who Like Having Fun Too Much. it's simply not useful to frame things this way as well as just fundamentally not being true

um um where to even start— omg making intro posts is the worst asdkjf

this is my beloved dumpster fire! her name is vivian callaway, and her story is about addiction and heartbreak and friendship and pain. it follows vivian and her best friend, bellamy, as vivian struggles with a severe, chronic addiction to a drink called elysium and bellamy tries over and over to save her. it focuses on how addiction affects those closest to you, and what it's like to watch someone suffer and know there's nothing you can do about it. it's sad and it's messy— but it's also hopeful. this story is also about how there's always hope and forgiveness, no matter what you've done or who you are.

this story is most of what i ramble about rn! ill introduce the rest of the cast in time, but vivian is undoubtedly the hyperfixation and gets the most attention from me :) i hope one day you can grow to love my story and my characters as much as i do <3

a week into artfight i would like to give out the following reminders: it is okay if you thought you were going to participate but ended up not having time. it is fine if you started out enthused and then lost steam. you do not owe anyone revenges. you are not 'behind' and you are not letting anybody down. it is a silly little game for fun. do not forget this.

a book series I think more people should know about and appreciate is the ascendance series by Jennifer a nielsen. It’s very cool the first book includes

an incredibly snarky and clever protagonist who will never bore you and also never tell you the whole truth

a very intriguing very morally gray antagonist who genuinely believes he’s doing what’s necessary and right

a complicated and nearly impossible deadly goal involving high treason and death if caught

very interesting dynamic evolution between three boys who might’ve been friends but are instead forced to view each other as threats because there can only be one winner, one survivor

super cool plot twists done well

and then the rest of the series is equally high quality— even the last two books, which were added on years later (rest in peace ascendance trilogy). none of them disappoint in the quick-witted protagonist or the high stakes satisfying plot twist categories, Jennifer a Nielsen is a mastermind
