don’t feel guilty for cutting toxic people out of your life
Destroy the idea that it’s humble to hate yourself. Destroy the idea that loving yourself is conceited.
Slut shaming really just needs to die out already; especially since it’s mostly girls bashing girls. If you have a problem with the way a person dresses, or the types of pictures people may post….don’t follow them, block them, don’t engage with them. There’s no need to try and make a person feel bad about themselves. It only shows the kind of person YOU are…not them.
I am more than the meals I have skipped
and more than the mistakes I have made,
and I am still learning
from all the nights I’ve cried myself to sleep,
from all the times I wished I was dead,
and from all the times I bullied myself,
that I am so much more
you’re not selfish for wanting to be treated well
i applaud people who have been through hell but are still kind & loving towards other humans. i hope the universe will soon reward you with happiness.
My heart breaks for Syrians who have been in war for so long. Children who have grown without knowing anything else. Children who didn’t get to live. People who have seen their country destroyed. Thousands and thousands of lives lost. And so many of us don’t even know half of it, we’re so uninformed. But the US bombing them is bound to make things worse, and it’s so unfair that some people are *just* beginning to worry because it might affect them. We’re so fucking privileged and most of the time, we take that for granted.
13 Reasons Why
Don’t watch it. Do not watch this fucked up mess of a show. Listen, I’ve been working in suicide prevention for almost six years, and I grew up in an area that had epidemics of teen suicides. The area is actually so well known that the show-writers and producers met with leading experts in the area on the ways that the media contributes to youth suicides - and then did almost everything they were warned not to do, even going so far as to actually show the suicide on-screen. Many of the experts that they’ve spoken with are expressing grave disappointment with how the show proceeded despite their advice.
If you’re suicidal, if you’re depressed, if you self-harm, and/or if you have any trauma associated with that, please do not watch this show. It was incredibly irresponsibly handled and puts people in very real danger.
reblogging this again because it is insanely triggering and i want you all to be safe
that book was the most suicide-glorifying thing i ever laid hands on and i cannot believe it got as popular as it did because it really tries to drop the message of “hey if you die, everyone will realize what a beautiful, tragic figure you are and also that you were RIGHT ALL ALONG and they will regret everything they did to you” and it’s just an awful, dangerous message to send ESPECIALLY to anyone who might be having harmful thought so yes, seconding this message
Reblogging for my flowers
I’m tired of girls trying to invalidate their own feelings during times of pain, especially to their friends. Your break up meant something. That friendship you lost was a hard blow. I understand why you feel tired this semester. Sometimes this “modern woman” stereotype is patriarchy’s last attempt; patriarchy disguised as feminism. You don’t have to be “wise beyond your years”; your pain and crying does not mean you are not intelligent. If you feel your friends demand justification for your pain and ordeals, they’re not friends. You’re strong but human. Remind yourself emotional space is part of liberation.
nobody talks about how ugly taking care of yourself can be
yes, sometimes it’s taking a warm bath and texting memes to friends and keeping an aesthetically pretty journal.
sometimes it’s crying silently on your couch at 3am, hugging yourself and reminding yourself that you’re a good person.
self care is not always ‘aesthetic’ and cute…and that’s ok. don’t be embarrassed, just do what you need to do.
this is for the girls who fight their anxiety to get their dream grades
this is for the girls with depression but are still determinated to kick ass
this is for the girls who feel lonely staying home studying on a friday night
i love you and i am rooting for you

This is why people keep quiet about their mental illnesses…and why we need to speak up.
Stop apologizing. You don’t have to say sorry for how you laugh, how you dress, how you make your hair, how you do your makeup, how you speak. You don’t have to be sorry for being yourself. Do it fearlessly. It’s time to accept: this is you, and you gotta spend the rest of your life with you. So start loving your sarcasm, your awkwardness, your weirdness, your peculiar habits, your unique sense of humor, your voice, your talents, your everything. It will make your life so much easier to simply be yourself.
