best thing about the d gray fandom is that a good chunk of us are working adults whose adolescent obsession comes to take hold of us during work hours once every four months
Inktober day 13: Gargoyle
Look, I know Timcanpy is a Golem not a Gargoyle, but let me have this one! I even drew some cathedral architecture! I made Clown Crown into a Gargoyle!! A real one too and not even a Grotesque. Though all Gargoyles are Grotesques, not all Grotesques are Gargoyles. They have to be waterspouts to be a Gargoyle. I decided to play on the meaning of Grotesques serving to act as protectors and watch for acts of blasphemy in conjunction with Innocence. Innocence can punish Exorcists who blaspheme and Allen has that cursed eye that can detect Akuma. Grotesques served as reminders of the separation of the divine from the earthly, but they also provided quite a bit of humor in their appearance contradicting the much more serious meanings. I think that fits the Jester theme of Allenâs Innocence. The symbolism worked out quite well surprisingly enough!
monthly nea for october! plus a bonus timcanpy

Found out that in the book version of the manga in chapter 238 there is a page, thatâs not in the online version.
Just needed to share this <3
So, about this â
This page was never published in the magazine version. Actually, there are two pages from volume 28 that were added once the volume was out, and hence never published in the magazine. This is one of the two pages!
I think the second one is the illustration of a younger Mana in a mirror, but I'm not sure...đ¤
If you pay close attention (and you read BOTH the magazine and the volumes đ) you'll see there are some major differences: new pages, correction of some dialogues, correction of some drawing lines, etc.
Some examples of that would be for instance in the chapter when Allen hits Cosimov (in the flashback arc). In the magazine, the lines aren't finished, she was probably in the rush when drawing it so we only got a rough drawing, but she finished the lines and the drawing in the volume.
Another big (and important!) difference! would be the chapter in the flashback arc when Cross says he is looking for the host. In the chapter, he said Nea died 35 years ago, which is impossible because Nea died 35 years ago comparatively to the current timeline, but the flashback arc takes place at least 5 years or more before the current timeline, so it's just impossible...It's just Hoshino Sensei's mistake.... When the chapter was out, it was a small storm in the fandom (at least, the JP fandom) because we were like "whaaaaat?" And regularly, I see Reddit or Discord discussion about this, because once in a while, there is always a fan discovering the mistake, and because the DGM fandom is hungry with theories and we have a small tendency to interpret everything (and me, the first ahaha), everyone starts panicking...
And indeed, it was corrected once the volume was out (probably 27 or 26, don't remember, sorry đ). She just replaced it with something like "Nea died a long time ago"...
So yes, there are small differences between volumes and chapters! By the way, Hoshino Sensei has said several times, but the volumes are the canon, so please refer to the volumes to be sure.
