Studying is bo-oring.
Who wants to play catch with the giant squid?
I hear his aimâs improving.
Sounds safe.
The Kitchens || Forrest & Nora
Forrest shrugged. Heâd found that he hadnât been keeping up with his artwork as of late. He would sketch something every now and then, but that was it. Thinking about it made him feel bad. âI havenât had a real project for a while. I just havenât had the time. The Triwizard Games and everything just got in the way⊠But whenever I have an interesting dream I sketch something to help me remember it.â He rubbed the back of his head. âIâve been having a lot of dreams about the White Lady.â The White Lady was a recurring figure in his dreams, and Nora was the only person he had told her about. The White Lady was an ethereal, womanly figure all dressed in white. Forrest believed that it had something to do with his late birth mother. âI thought those dreams had stopped for good⊠But theyâre back.â
The dreams would repeat for months and then disappear spontaneously, and return after a length of time as short as a day or as long as a year. The dreams had started out as something surreal, almost enchanting, but now they were just odd. Forrest was almost scared to go to sleep now, because he knew what would be waiting for him in his dreams. He had resorted to staying up all hours of the night, and dozing off in his classes. âItâs nothing, though, really.â Forrest pursed his lips and was trying to think of something else to say when two little house elves came hurrying towards them, carrying a cauldron that was obviously too large for them to be carrying. Forrest reacted swiftly and took the cauldron from them, and set it on the counter.
Another house elf came rushing behind them, carrying bowls. Forrest smiled appreciatively and took the bowls. The house elf also had a ladle, which he took. Forrest ladled chicken soup into one of the bowls, and handed it to Nora as well as a silver spoon. âThat didnât take too long. Iâm a bit surprised. Usually the tea gets finished before the soup. I wonder where that other house elf went?â he asked as he looked around the kitchens. âAh well. At least you have your soup. If you donât get well soon, Iâm gonna have to hook you up to an IV of chicken soup.â
Nora pursed her lips and nodded. She didn't really believe him when he said that it wasn't anything, but she found that pushing things didn't really help anything. "Maybe finding a new muse would help? The dreams and creating some artwork." She suggested, raising her eyebrows. "I know it isn't really the same, but I tend to have better dreams when I'm working on something that I feel really passionate about. Because my dreams end up being about whatever I'm trying to achieve." She smiled a little. "I dunno, it's just a thought, but I can't see it doing you any harm." Maybe she should take her own advice, lately she had felt a big creative block in her head. For everything, essays, songs, anything that required her to use some of her creativity. She got in stumps like these every so often, where she just couldn't formulate any decent ideas and ended up getting frustrated with herself and giving up altogether until some brilliant thing popped into her head.
Watching as the house elves hurried in, Nora grinned and pat her stomach. "Really, thank you for doing this, I appreciate it." She had a bad habit of repeating thank yous and apologies when she deemed necessary. So when she felt bad for doing something or someone did something nice for her, they were usually telling her to stop thanking or apologizing in no time. "Oh, I don't mind, it's supper rush. It probably flew over their heads. Besides, I reckon that this soup is going to be better for me than any tea." She smiled. Her eyes widened a little and she laughed. "An IV of chicken soup? I'm not sure how pleasant that sounds."
"So, did you go to the ball with anyone?" Nora had decided it best for herself to skip the Spring Ball altogether, avoiding any awkward encounters that may come her way. She took the bowl of soup from him and raised the spoon to her mouth slowly, taking a bite and smiling a little despite herself. She truly was a sucker for Hogwarts food, it certainly beat anything that she got back home. Her parents weren't astounding cooks, to put it politely.
I feel so horrible for the Bennette's... I can't even imagine.
Yeah it was my best class in school. easier than potions thatâs for sure.Â
And that's why you're TA, now, yeah?
My best class is Astronomy. I liked it enough to continue taking it after my fifth year.
Alright - Supergrass.
good! Memorizing is all history is really.Â
True enough. Iâm better at History of Magic than some of the skill oriented areas. I find it pretty simple.
good job! Iâm surprised honestly. Chocolate is a go then
Not to sound full of it, but I have quite the memory. But it may have been more the chocolateâs doing than my mind.
So i should continue it, continue with the chocolate? Tell me who created the wolfsbane potion? do you remember from the lectures?
Definitely continue with the chocolate. Damocles. That one I remembered.
History of Magic quizzes went moderately wellâŠ.I guess the chocolate i handed out helped you guys pay attention?
It certainly helped me...
So ummm....
WellâŠ.I was trying to get this fire spell down and it kinda got out of handâŠ.
Oh no... Did you get it down yet?
So ummm....
I hope soâŠI mean I donât want to get in trouble, It was only an accident.Â
Well⊠If you explain to them what happened- What exactly did happen?
So ummm....
YeahâŠI knowâŠ..I wasnât being very smartâŠ.
Probably not... But hey.
So ummm....
I might have accidentally lit part of the fields on fireâŠ.
SorryâŠ
That probably wasn't the... best... thing for it.
The Kitchens || Forrest & Nora
âIâd do it for you any time,â Forrest said with a smile. Of course he would take care of her. âI see you took some time deciding on what to wear,â he commented on her outfit. She looked very much like a sick person, indeed. âAre you quite sure you donât need to go to the nurseâs? Or how about St. Mungoâs?â he asked teasingly. He would never pass up such a fine opportunity to poke fun at her. But then again, she was ill. He decided to relent a little. âOkay, letâs get you to the kitchens. The sooner you have a hot cup of tea in your hands, the better.â He put a hand on her shoulder and nudged her in the direction of the kitchens. It wasnât very far, maybe twenty or thirty feet. A couple of paintings hung between the pile of barrels in the corner and a giant painting of a bowl of fruit. Forrest reached out and tickled the plump pear on the left-hand side of the painting. It giggled, and the painting swung open to reveal a large doorway. As soon as he stepped inside, the smell of freshly-baked bread, melted chocolate, and numerous other aromas greeted his nose. Forrest took a deep breath, savoring the scents.
âOkay!â he spouted enthusiastically at the house elves. They looked a bit annoyed, seeing as they were in the middle of preparing supper for the rest of the school. âYou there, in the red scarf. Yes, you. I need you to prepare some chicken soup.â The house elf sighed and scurried away. âAnd⊠You! In the green hat! I need you to make some chamomile tea for this poor, sick, lass. She really needs it,â he added. Forrest smiled and turned to face Nora. âDonât you just love house elves?â
"You can be such a sap sometimes," She poked his stomach and smiled up at him. Her jaw dropped slightly and she put her hands on her hips. "C'mon, Frosty, you can admit I'm model material. I won't tell anyone." She let her arms drop to her sides and jutted her lower lip out to him. Nora stroked an invisible beard, "Hmm... St. Mungo's or a nice cup of tea... I don't know which I would possibly choose." Nora knew he liked teasing her, but she liked doing the same thing back. She rolled her eyes, "Yes, father." She drawled in her best posh voice. Though it had happened many times, and she was used to it by now, every time that little pear giggled Nora couldn't help but do it back. It was just so darn adorable. As they stepped into the kitchen, she closed her eyes and tilted her chin up slightly. Even with a slightly plugged nose, she could still smell the delicious Hogwarts cuisine.
After he finished his to-do list for the house elves, she quickly added, "Please and thank you, it's much appreciated." She turned to him and nodded. "They're the best. And deserve a thank you." She nudged him. "Anyway," Nora leaned back against the counter, crossing her arms across her chest. "What has been your latest work of art?" She asked, adding some dramatic flair to her words. Nora had always loved Forrest's artwork, she even had one of the smaller ones up above her bed. It was of, of course, a rose, and she cherished it dearly. It was kind of hard, sometimes, not having your best friend in the same house as you, but she liked having that little part of him there, no matter how cheesy that sounded.
