“don’t worry, superstar, my lips are sealed. i won’t betray ya to kim k.” not that there was any chance of oliver ever even finding himself in the position to do so. but still, his point remains. “no, never. but fortunately for us, i have been told that i have an impeccable sense of direction. & by that i mean that i’m wicked accomplished at using google maps,” he muses, nodding along in agreement as his focus turns to his phone. “looks like there’s a couple of places within walking distance. they all look pretty lowkey, too, so you might actually make it out without getting hassled by fans. which is a novel concept, i’m sure. what do you say to winging it & seeing where we end up ?”

“Oh, yeah,” Nora snorts, “because you’re never hounded by gaggles of screaming girls, I’m sure. Alright, king of Google maps, I’m putting my fate in your hands. If even one picture of me ends up online, it’s officially going to be your fault.” But it’s with a grin that she slips into her platform shoes, grabs a light jacket, and reapplies her lipstick, more than ready to hit the downtown area on foot.

The breeze smells amazing as soon as they step outside and start walking and it has that feel that all luxury vacation spots have, like it was built with glamour in its bones. On some level, she finds the idea ethically questionable, but she also absolutely adores it, and perhaps it’s because she’s still young, she finds it relatively easy to compartmentalize her qualms and enjoy the feeling. “So,” she says, ignoring the flash of a camera that’s found them in less than five minutes. “Which way are we headed?”

“Ah, of course. Because threatening people is the perfect way for them to do what you want?” Emi sarcastically asked, struggling not to roll her eyes. Like in How I met your mother, she was a firm believer that nothing good happened past two am, and it was steadily reaching that point in the night where Emi knew she just needed to plaster a smile on for an hour at most, if she was lucky, before she can go back to bed. “I don’t smoke,” she added with a shrug.

Eyebrows dipping, Nora surveys Emira as if she’s waiting for her to say she’s joking, but it doesn’t come. It’s a little jarring -- she isn’t used to be spoken to that way, for one thing, and beyond that she certainly hadn’t expected Emira Kaya to have such an attitude, which is truthfully a little disappointing considering how much Nora had vibed with Driver’s License when it blew up. “Right,” she says slowly, “well the threat was actually a joke, I wasn’t really going to pull a Michael Myers on you or anything, so no worries. Won’t even force you to smoke since I’m feeling generous tonight.”

“Eh, sorry,” she took a few sidesteps over to regain some composure. This place, this vacation definitely made her loose and allowed her some freedom to enjoy some quality self care and that included some indulgence. “Girl, if you want to share that, I’m always down, but if not, that’s totally fine too. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.” Cal wanted to at least give the other some options because she also knew she was the one that was ran into.

“As if I could smoke this whole thing on my own,” Nora jokes. “I guess we’ll save the gruesomeness for another time, but only because you look amazing and I couldn’t bear to ruin it.” Borrowing a lighter from someone, she gets the joint going and passes it to Cal after her own hit. “I’m, like, pretty sure I haven’t seen you since the Met Gala, right? How tragic. Have you been crazy busy lately? I totally missed Fashion Week in February and I was devastated. You completely killed it, Cal.”

Ben raises his brows at the familiar sight. He is pretty indifferent on seeing the girl. It wouldn’t do much to his career if he was seen with her. “Oh hi. It’s nice to see you too.” Ben smiles, he is quite humored by the situation. “I do hate luxury, but I really like tacos.” Ben holds up his taco and winks before taking a bite. “You know I thought you would be a little more excited to see me. I mean we always seem to have fun together.” He playfully nudges her shoulder, as a slight chuckle escapes his mouth.

“Oh, is that what you’d call it?” says Nora, lifting an eyebrow. It’s not even necessarily a lie, since ninety percent of the time whatever they’re doing isn’t fun, although she’s perfectly aware that he’s referring just to the sex and that aggravates her even more. If he wasn’t cute, she’d have stopped this whole thing a long time ago. “That’s very confident of you. Unfortunately for you, you have a better chance of suddenly developing a good personality than getting me into your bed this weekend, so. I’m sure you’ll find solace in your tacos.”

automatically, her fingers wrap around the can as she takes her own shot of tequila, then quickly chasing it with her lime juice. adina’s nose scrunches from the burn but overcomes it quickly. she glances to where nora points. she hums, eyes squinting to see the group to see if she knows any of them (which she might). “oh that would’ve been hilarious, could you imagine? living the jersey shore fantasy.” adina says, before she’s leaning back into her own seat for a moment, she has to take in the fact that she’s currently socializing with the nora bright, and has to make it a point to not overdo it with her. “you know, the night is too perfect to worry about some dicks, let’s have some fun nor, what do you say?” she says with a grin.

“Fair enough,” Nora says with a laugh. “I guess if there’s anywhere you’re allowed to be a dick, it’s at some over-the-top beach party in Cabo.” She stands from her seat and pulls Adina up with her. “Come on, let’s get new drinks and go check out the water, I wanna see how cold it is. I’m thinking if I have just enough alcohol in me I might be able to tolerate it enough to put my toes in or something. And you’re doing it with me, by the way.”

“Yeah, you should probably work on that,” he teased light heartedly, noticing her looking over her shoulders. He couldn’t blame her. Ever since that dumb ass article came out about them potentially dating, they had to be careful about who saw them together. Not that people thinking they were dating was a bad thing, but the more rumors circulated, the less likely it would be that she’d want to see him at all. Plus, if she found out that he did have this stupid crush on her, she would probably avoid him like the plague.

So, he also looked over his shoulder.

He followed behind her before sitting down next to her, leaving a comfortable distance between them. “Oh fuck, yeah, it was a lot of drunk people.” He took a hit before saying “I really only went as a favor to my agent. He sees this as a ‘great networking opportunity’” He makes the air quotes with his hands. “so I went for him, really. Doubt anyone will even remember I said hi.” He passed the joint back as he exhaled. “You make it out okay? Unscathed?”

“Relatively,” Nora grins. “I mean, I’m not complaining, we’re in Cabo and it’s totally gorgeous. And quit being so modest. As if anyone you talked to didn’t know who you are.” She rolls her eyes and takes the joint back to hit it again, and this time it tickles her throat just a little too much, sending her into a coughing fit that’s made worse when she starts laughing at herself. Eyes streaming, she finally gets her breath and says, “Wow, that was literally unhinged. I promise I usually handle my weed better. Here, you have the rest.” She gives it to him and leans back into the couch, laughing again. “God, sometimes I’m just completely horrified by my life, do you ever have that feeling?”

“Honestly I can truthfully say the same for you, it’s so nice to see you again. Oh! Well in that case should I help you find someone?” Aless joked with a teasing smirk, following Nora out onto the surprisingly impressive terrace. Genuinely, even after this many years in the industry, moments like this had her feeling like it was all a bit surreal. Sipping from her flute of champagne and looking out over the water, she chuckled at the blonde’s question as she smirked. “Life is great actually, I’m working with Netflix on a few things and the kids are doing wonderful. You are absolutely right, Henrik just got off tour so I thought this would be a nice way to unwind for him. We haven’t had the chance to get away from home just the two of us for awhile.” She spoke, before sipping at her drink. “What about you, beautiful? How’s your life been? I wanna hear everything.”

“Oh my god,” Nora says, keeping her voice relatively low, “I heard a rumor about you doing something with Netflix and I didn’t know if it was true.” She positively beams at Aless, having been a fan since even before she’d caught her own break, when she’d been a freshman in high school watching Gossip Girl with her friends and trying to emulate the Serena Van Der Woodsen aesthetic. “That’s so exciting, you totally need this vacation then. I’ve got some really fun stuff going on too, we’re starting filming for Wicked almost as soon as I get back to LA. I’m gonna be back and forth between there and filming in London for a few months, I’m being crazy and finishing up my new album too. We desperately need to see each other more, I’m gonna need some serious wine nights while I’m working myself to the bone.”

Upon arriving in Cabo, Nora had been so thrilled about an entire weekend off in paradise that she’d truly thought she would be down for anything, and mostly, she has been -- until of course she runs into Ben, whom she hasn’t seen (on purpose) since the last time they drunkenly hooked up after a party a few months ago, and whom she does not have time for right now. Her inhibitions are simply too low at the moment and there’s way, way too many opportunities to be caught on camera.

“Of course,” she says by way of greeting. They’re just outside a taco place where she’s made the difficult decision to skip it in case her stomach were to turn on her at the beach party that evening. “What are you even doing here? I thought you hate luxury.” To this she adds an eyeroll, as if to underline the sarcasm. // @xbenodell

“Now how can I possibly resist such an adorable face?” Aless grinned, attempting to feign the impression that she was battling whether or not to join the young woman. But she was pretty sure they both knew Alessandra would. “Oh of course I will hang out with you, chula, we’re far over due for some catch up.” Another laugh escaped her as she shook her head again. “And you are more than welcome to smoke that. But drinks on the terrace sound perfect, lead the way.”

“Yes! I’m so happy you’re here, I was totally looking for someone good to hang out with.” As requested, Nora leads Aless out onto the swanky terrance where loads of glamorous people are smoking cigarettes and sipping drinks, and it’s one of those moments where Nora just absolutely adores her life. They grab champagne from someone walking around with it and find a spot right at the edge, overlooking the ocean. “So, dish, how’s life? Are you and Henrik here together for the weekend?”

Bo wasn’t the most social of butterflies. He went to events and parties and did his best, but he would always fumble a little bit and make some experience awkward. So, he was escaping one of the parties for a night of maybe playing some Minecraft when he spotted Nora. He tried to suppress the little flutter in his chest and simply smiled. “You uh… you don’t have to threaten me, I won’t tell anyone,” he assured her. “But I might take a puff or two if you’re offering.”

“Sorry, I’m always too quick to threaten people,” Nora jokes. She tries not to be too obvious about it when she looks around, anxious to make sure no paparazzi had snuck in, that there are no errant cameras flashing in her direction, because Bo is really sweet and it’s horrible having to keep glancing over her shoulder every time he’s around ever since that stupid article went viral. “Definitely offering, let’s find somewhere less crowded.” The nice thing, she thinks, as they weave their way around people, is that at least because there are a ton of high-profile celebrities here, any one person is less likely to be targeted. They find a spacious living area and Nora drops herself onto a couch, one leg thrown across the other. She lights the joint, hits it, and passes it to Bo, saying, “How was that beach party for you? Everyone was, like, so wasted.”

Somehow Aless had lost sight of her towering husband when he offered to go find them drinks at this after party, but the woman wasn’t too worried. If anyone could find her in a crowd it was Henrik. So when she managed to side step a group of drunker individuals and not run into them, she caught sight of a blonde sneaking a joint. Which in all honesty didn’t seem to bother Aless as much as it did the younger femme. A laugh escaped her as she lifted her hands in surrender, shaking her head. “I’ve got an even better deal for you; you can have the whole thing and I’ll pretend as if I didn’t see anything happen. Si?”

“Oh, come on, Aless,” says Nora goadingly, with a smirk. “At least come hang out with me! It’s been such a hot minute since I’ve seen you, like. At least a year, for sure.” Putting on a little pout, she adds, “I won’t even smoke the weed if it bothers you, promise. Drinks on the terrace? This house has got such a pretty one, have you seen it?”

“do i know?” he quirks a brow in amusement. “don’t worry, nor. while i’m obviously a superfan i’m not quite at the level of keeping tabs on everywhere that you’ve been before .. not yet, at least,” oli jokes, gaze taking in the sight before them. if he were honest, moments like these still felt surreal - like if someone were to pinch him, then he’d wake up back home in canada to find that the last few years had just been a dream. “it’s something, that’s for sure. i don’t know if a weekend is enough time to see it all though, y’know? whatcha’ up to this evening? wanna go explore a little?” he asks. “kidnapped by kim k? shit, you just know somebody out there would have a kink for that.”

“Ew,” Nora laughs, “I mean, yeah. Obviously. It’s Kanye, he has the kink.” Wrinkling her nose, she adds, “Don’t tell Kim I said that.” She pushes off the railing and flips her hair over her shoulder, breathing in the warm night air with its briny overtone. There is nothing, in her opinion, better than being near the ocean. “Anyway -- I’m so down to go do something. Have you been here before? I don’t know the area at all. I’d be kind of into just finding a dive bar or something, what about you?”

Having procured a joint from an acquaintance she’d bumped into (and sneakily, she’d thought), Nora turned away to go find somewhere to smoke it where no one would be able to take pictures of her to sell to magazines only to find someone looking at her, clearly having witnessed the whole thing. “Fuck,” she says. “Okay, look, I’ll split it with you if you swear to god you’ll pretend this never happened. That’s the easy way, and the hard way is super gruesome, believe me.”

“Can you hold this a second?” Nora asks of a vaguely familiar-looking girl whose name she can’t place -- an influencer she follows on Instagram, probably -- and hands her a mostly-empty White Claw while she takes her hair out of its ponytail and redoes it. “Some assholes are being so fucking rowdy over there.” She points over her shoulder with her thumb and takes her drink back. “Anyway -- thanks. I swear, someone dropped the ball by not deciding to film this whole thing. It’s literally so messy.” // @adiina

“You know, I’ve only been here once,” says Nora, leaning over the railing of the private terrace and looking out over the twinkling lights of the city and the ocean. Sometimes she gets a little too used to this kind of thing and has to make a conscious effort to feel grateful, to not take for granted how lucky she is. She doesn’t know where her other two roommates have gone off to now they’ve finished dinner -- it’s odd, having roommates, yet this whole thing had sounded fun and it’s a whole house to spread out -- but she’s decided she likes Oliver. Which is good, because it totally would have ruined Degrassi if he’d sucked. “Cabo, I mean. I didn’t stay here. I should have, though, it’s really pretty, isn’t it? And I always have something to complain about,” she jokes. “Usually it’s décor. Everything’s always so white in these places, I can’t stand it, it’s like pov you’re kidnapped by Kim Kardashian and held hostage.” // @oliivers
