In case it's not clear to the non-vegans:
Animal agriculture in america is a large part of the american imperial core. Changing the landscape to benefit white farmers, who destroyed well-tended forests, tried to eradicate the buffalo (and succeeded in removing them from much of their original range) have been historical and contemporary examples of the ways in which american agriculture has been linked to american colonialism and patriotism. In the modern era, this is not over. Large swaths of stolen land are still used for animal agriculture. The meat industry continues to pollute and poison the land, especially around poorer areas (as the rich don't want these kinds of facilities around. Wonder why.) The fishing industry drags massive nets indiscriminately throughout the coasts, killing millions and millions of animals that are then tossed as "by-catch", while leaving these areas destroyed. Meanwhile, indigenous nations are still denied their legal rights to fishing.
The right has been for animal agriculture and against veganism and vegetarianism in any respect. This study looking at the users of r/antivegan saw high correlations between use on this subreddit and engaging in racism and vaccine denial, this essay goes more into detail on vegan hate in the online context, specifically in spanish speaking areas. Standing against veganism is often used as a virtue signal for various far right groups; standing against veganism is connected with standing for right wing causes. Veganism is often seen as less masculine, and this correlation between meat and men strengthens the link both for meat eating as a display of masculinity in patriarchal cultures and politics and between abstaining from meat and leftism.
Meat eating stands as a symbol for masculinity and american dominance. It is bolstered by real money, from taxes and billionaires, who are heavily invested in a cultural continuation of meat eating and subsidizing farmers to make meat cheaper. This is doing active harm to the environment and the people living in it. Your ideas about the naturalness of meat eating, its widespread necessity, and the supposed lack of comprehension from vegans don't come from nowhere, they are supported and backed by a violent regime.
USA Native Plant Resource Masterlist
Because Google is totally useless and won't help you with ANYTHING
iNaturalist: Take photos of living things you see, post them, and the community will identify them for you. Data from iNaturalist is used in scientific research.
Wildflower.org Plant Database: Enter search criteria and find some plants. Very useful if you're looking for plants with specific qualities or know what you have in mind.
Native Plant Finder: This website is still in beta and is a work in progress, but it will show you plants for your area ranked by the number of butterflies that use them for their caterpillars.
WildflowerSearch: AMAZING resource for identification and for learning about new plants. Shows you where plants are native/not native, TONS of search filters.
Native Plant Trust: A New England organization, but probably useful to anyone.
Northern Forest Atlas: Great images and identification resources for trees; has good pictures of bark, seeds, buds, leaves.
FloraFinder: Another plant database site that's being slowly built up by a passionate nerd.
MonarchWatch milkweed by USA ecoregion: Tells you what milkweed species you should plant for monarch butterflies.
Native Beeology: Not plants, but a closely related subject.
I will add more and post an updated list as I find more.
