Introducing kids to these animals in the language of pests and pest control, with obvious promotion of calling pest control, and often leaving out the ecological role that they play or how to coexist with them peacefully... yeah, it's upsetting.
It's not the worst resource ever, but the bias is showing.

That being said, if I see ONE MORE FUCKING RECIPE that uses MAPLE SYRUP as the ONLY sweetenerâŠ.
Ok but truly if you have lived in maple producing areas it can just be like that. I've had complete meals where the only sweetener is maple and it's decadent.
That said, some of the amounts people online think I should use maple are astounding
Maple is like banana. Delicious, but whatever you put it in becomes That Flavor. And I love syrup, but I want my cookies to taste like cookies, not syrup đ
No no no no see, you need to get the good syrup. Bad maple tastes like pancake juice. Good maple syrup tastes like maple.

I really donât like how being vegan is seen as such a difficult thing to do, like itâs some massive hardship for a person to take on that requires so much sacrifice.
While it definitely mustâve been a real challenge 20 years ago, now weâre pretty much spoiled with choice when it comes to finding animal free substitutes to all kinds of food and products.
I think the whole âbeing vegan is difficultâ narrative is outdated and we need to change it if we want more people to switch to a plant based lifestyle.

Very great question! For the majority of my life I've been an omnivore. Once I drove to eastern Indiana from Chicago to see my friend read poetry. We crashed there and she put on a mercy for animals shirt and I think a hat? It had vegan written all over and I thought I'd give her some grief and ask about her vegan merch. I asked why be a vegan? I expected her to be all hardcore. Instead she simply replied, "I believe all living beings deserve mercy." This stuck in my head. As I later drove across Indiana and home I couldn't remove what she said. Yes! All beings deserve mercy. Did this mean I had to become a total vegan? And in that drive I concluded she had me. On that morning I became vegan. This was not enough so I changed my freshman research and writing class to focus on human and non-human rights. We studied it, researched on it, even went to vegan restaurants. It was intense. Their first day of class we watched Earthlings. Worth viewing but intense. I progressed in living as a vegan. But in my life, I struggled in terms of addiction, mental health, and neurological conditions. This meant frequent trips to hospitals, rehabs, and now this nursing home all of these institutional situations do not lend themselves to vegan living. However, I'm soon moving out and looking forward to returning to veganism.
the point of âleftists draw the line at veganism because it requires actual lifestyle changeâ always baffles me cause I guess itâs true but like I would hope your leftism involves actual lifestyle change already?
Like do yall not already boycott corporations? Do yall not make an active effort for the vulnerable people in your community to be supported? No protesting? No educating yourself on challenged information and issues?

anti-vegans sound like toddlers who wonât eat broccoli honestly đ«©
what bothers me about people who say "i hate animals abuse" "i can't trust people who abuse animals", etc, is that they still consume animal products without even feeling an ounce of guilt.
don't get me wrong, im not fully vegan yet either, but its extremely hypocritical to oppose the idea animal abuse/exploitation and still not even try to at least reduce the consumption of animal products.
you can't 'love' animals and support the meat and dairy industry.
