The stunning ‘Lumino City’ is a video game made of paper instead of polygons
For the past three years, State of Play, a small studio in London, has been building a 10-foot-tall miniature city out of paper, cardboard, and lots of little lights. There are houses and gardens, and at the center there’s an 8-foot-tall water wheel, powered by a custom set of motors and built using cardboard cut by lasers. It’s a huge, intricate world, and starting next week it’s one you’ll be able to explore in a video game with the launch of Lumino City.

Name this Samsung rectangle! Samsung makes a ton of products, everything from televisions, to refrigerators, to washing machines. But it’s best at making rectangles, and it seems to release a new rectangle every week. If you’re not paying close attention, all of those rectangles start to blend together, making it awfully hard to tell today’s Samsung rectangle from the rectangle it released last week or six months ago.

Print your photos and tape them to a wall. Look at them. Play around with the L, cropping and framing, and you will learn about composition and geometry. Enlarge what you frame and leave it on the wall. By looking, you will learn to see. When you agree that a photograph is not good, throw it out. Tape the best ones higher on the wall, and eventually look at those only (keeping the not-so-good one gets you used to not-so-goodness). Save the good ones, but throw everything else away, because the psyche retains everything you keep.
