Hi tumblr and my friends, I'm back.

Just now, I was very surprised when I discovered that my account was still usable.

You know, it's been exactly 8 years since my last posted. Back then, it's still 2016. After these 8 years, almost everything changed.

What do I start with?

Well, the first thing is to introduce myself once again.

I'm Norlic, still a furry and may always be one for the rest of my life lol. Back in 2016, I'm still young and struggled to know better about myself. It's good news that now I found it.

I'm a manul, this fact is far beyond my own expectations. I once thought I'm a bear or something, at least a much bigger one than manul. In case that you don't know what's a manul, it's almost a very small cat with very thick fur covered.

I used to struggle with naming myself as well. I used to call myself as "lonerbear", "frozenblaze" and so on, now I'm settled on "Norlic", which is short for "North Licht", means "the northern light".

This happend in the year 2021.

In those years of silence, I calmed down and engaged in very diligent painting practice. I decided to work on becoming a real artist, determined my life's direction, got married with my wife.

This post shows one of my favourite artwork of mine. The siamese cat character is called Walter. He's one of my original character.

The other artwork is more like a self-portrait. I'm exactly like the manul in real life.

Any way, it's so good to know that tumblr is undergoing a revival.

And thanks for reading my post. I hope you will enjoy the large collection of paintings that I have accumulated over the years, which I am now ready to share.

This deer is my original OC: Deen Nocturne. His ship, the Northern Lights, is anchored in the night sky. I've written many stories about him, but this is the first time I've drawn an illustration of him.

"In your life, I mean, was there ever a moment when you suddenly realized how incredibly lucky you are? As if you were deeply favored by the heavens, like a child of destiny?”

To this day, I still feel this is the most fitting description for both myself and Deen. New year, new beginnings. This year starts with drawing my OC, and the stranded ship will soon return to the starry sea, setting sail once again!

Lately, I've been diving deep into the study of planar composition and feel like I've made a lot of progress.

As an INFJ, I used to struggle with not recognizing my own achievements, which often left me feeling impatient. But recently, I've started a "Medal Book" to document my progress and happy moments, rather than focusing on what I haven't accomplished.

I’m sharing my Medal Book with everyone. I hope you like it and that this idea can inspire more self-confidence~

Artworks I did in the game PASSPARTOUT 2.

I used to love this game, joined in demo test at the first time. The first 2 art works are done in demo version. Others are in realeased game.

This game gives me lots of joys. I used to have lots of pressure when doing artworks, I know this is very bad but I can't relax. So when I found this game, I feel so lucky. It allows me to do drawing and playing at the same time! So I don't feel the pressure anymore.

But unfortunately, they changed the oil paint brush in the official version of the game. The flat brush used to work so well with other brushes, but now it looks like bug when work with pencils or markers. And it won't show the right color because the developers want to keep the oil reflective texture.

Without this brush, it's not possible to "mix" color directly on the canvas. So I can't do more detailed painting as I used to do in demo version game. I repeatedly communicated with the developers, but they said developing the IOS platform it their highest priority. Then I asked maybe they can adjust the minimum size of the roller brush, that would be OK too. Then they became somewhat impatient :(

Anyway. I still wish they would consider changing the oil brush or give out more brushes. Very good and relaxing game, may be it's my problem to try to do some real paintings in a pc game.

Welcome back to Tumblr! I wasn't an original follower of yours until your posts announcing your return and fursona change, but after giving a scroll through your recent artworks I'm certainly made a fan now!

Remember not to put too much pressure on yourself or your art process, you're doing absolutely brilliant and even the smallest of doodles are a beautiful work of art. Perfectionism be darned!

Dear Anonymous friend!

Receiving your message truly made me both happy and pleasantly surprised! Cause I have been silent for too long, feel as if I have been forgotten by the whole world.

Eight years ago was a very important milestone for me. At that time, I had almost reached the highest level an amateur artist could achieve, but still far from the professional standard.

So I have to make a desision. Should I take a step forward, or completely change the direction of my life?

Back to 2019, I spent almost 10 years to overcome bipolar, and for the first time in 6 years, I decided to leave home to study art. Every thing changed since then. I want to say goodbye to my struggling self from the past，so I give up the old accounts and start with a new name, Norlic.

But today, when I'm disappointed with the Chinese platform the little red book, and someone suggested me to take a look back on Tumblr. When I logged into my old account, I suddenly realized that my past self is also a very important part of me. Those immature artworks from the past are now cherished memories that I value.

I'm so grateful to be "seen" by you, my generous friend.

What is the feeling of love?

Like a dog, like a god.

This is a comic commission I did for one of my client. Sable and Glint are two original characters of my client, Ink. The script and all comic arta was originally created by myself.

This comic was originally Chinese, so some of the text and boxes don't quite fit :P I did the translation by myself. I hope it all reads smoothly for you.

Who's still doing Fallout fan art in 2024? Oh it's me lol

I used to love this game, but didn't finish it. I decided to play it once more and finish it this time.

I met Piper agagin, feeling very astonished why I didn't choose her as my life partner back then.

I draw these pip boys from memory to train my drawing skill.

And there's one in progress. Guess who I drew in this last drawing?

After 8 years, I still do comics sometime.

I joined this manga competition 2 years ago, and won a finalist award. This comic tells the story of a person who wakes up to find that he has sold his soul to the devil, and then become a werewolf.

It's the first time that I try do draw some serious comic artwork, not just doodle. It's a pity that I didn't made it into final award, but I still love this one.

If someone is interested in my comic, I will consider translating it into English and releasing it :P

This was a commission art did for one of my client.

The monster who's watching them, is actually COVID-19.

Back then, everyone was very scared, fearing that COVID-19 would turn the world into a mess.

He asked me to do this art for him and his lover. This painting is meant to convey their fearless attitude towards the virus.

Everything is different now. We all have to move on.

I tried to redraw Rick in a more realistic way.

Last year, I joined an art activity, which is to try to draw every school subject into a character. I choose Geography, and I draw it as a white tale deer called Alex.

He was named after Alexander Von Humboldt. I read his boography, it's incredibly inspiring. He's a legend.

I really love to do sketches outside, but I hurt my right knee by standing too long doing sketches.

Done for a R76 novel called “Just From Afar”, name after a line from PersonOf Interest. 

“I’ll grow old with her, Mr. Reese, just from afar.”

In that story, Reyes died and was recovered as paper white skin and red eyes.

They both have spirit animals, like in The Golden Compass. Morrion’s blind so he didn’t know Reaper is Reyes. Yet he still fall in love with him. Reyes once betrayed Morrison, and hurt him badly. So he don’t want Soldier 76 to know who he really was.

They volunteered for The Hunger Game. Reyes in Overwatch suit, just as black. 

Morrison’s wolf named Summer, Reyes’ tiger named Suriel.

That was the best novel I’ve ever read, too shame can not translate it into English.

But hey, it’s OK. You can still enjoy this art work!
