Now it’s been disproven that Rey is a Kenobi, I still can’t help but think about that little voice cameo in The Force Awakens. Like despite everything, the first voice Rey hears from the past isn’t Anakin, or Yoda, or Palpatine. It’s Obi-Wan. 

Obi-Wan’s been dead for 34 years at that point; even if you argue that he wasn’t truly at peace until Anakin returned to the light, that’s still three decades. His story is over, his mission is complete. He can finally rest. He has no reason to linger. 

But when a scared young girl with no master finds herself so far from home with new powers she doesn’t understand, so reminiscent from that boy from Tattooine so long ago - well, who else would be the first one there to guide her steps? 

TLDR; Obi-Wan being the first force ghost says perhaps less about who she is and more about who he is; how, after all this time, he is still the first one to help when a lost lonely kid needs a helping hand.
