This is, by far, my favorite read of the year, because it was the most surprising. I was honestly surprised by how good it was.

It's a dark story, an exaggerated social commentary on a particular part of the world right now. It's specific, it feels a little bit magical, it's giving The Raven Cycle vibes, a lil bit.

But, more than that.

It's written from the point of view of a videographer and a video editor. So the way it is written, it's highly cinematographic. You read it, and it's easy to picture it. Which makes sense, considering who's written it.

It's such a good book. The characters are great, the atmosphere is just-that-little-bit-wrong to make it magical, the story is dark and non-sensical to the point where it feels like a dream morphing into a nightmare.

And it has the absolute best opening of a book I have ever read:

There is a video on the internet. It has over five hundred million views. It shows the day that I died.
