Amazing Transparent Church in Borgloon, Belgium
The architect group, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, built this church in Borgloon, Belgium. It doesn’t look like anything special… from certain angles. From other angles, the structure reveals itself to be something else entirely. It consists of 100 layers of stacked steel, that are equidistantly staggered in a way that illusively change in appearance based on where the viewer is standing.

A Functional Sculpture for Modern Art
The cherry trees may have peaked last month, but art and culture are always blooming on the National Mall. The Joseph H. Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden contains more than 12,000 works of modern and contemporary art — and, as this beautifully diagrammatic drawing proves, the museum itself is a creative accomplishment. SOM’s Gordon Bunshaft likened his design of the Hirshhorn to “a large piece of functional sculpture” that optimizes the museum-going experience. Saturday would have marked Bunshaft’s 106th birthday.
