I won a rapier tournament yesterday (for non SCA folk, this is that historical-reenactment-thing I do)! Here I am wearing my hand-sewn pourpoint, displaying the scroll and ceremonial sword of the baronial champion! It was a fun day of stabbery with friends =)

A few pics of me (in white) doing pick-up fights and learning from Sir Culann, a knight know for his skill with two-handed weapons. This was at Great Western War 2015, and the temperature was pushing 100°. The last two are pics of me getting hit in the arm and the results on my skin. It was an honor to fight to defend the West. It was an awesome weekend!

I had someone comment that it wasn’t period, and now I have obsessively been looking at paintings and have found that she isn’t wrong… But I’m not sure that she is entirely right, either.

I did the majority of the actual construction on Thanksgiving while the turkey was being cooked. It was an interesting experience since I was working with two other people. Also apparently I sew really straight which is apparently a rare talent. My grandma was a huge help throughout the entire process. without her over analyzing the pattern, I wouldn’t have an amazing apron dress. *this is the dress pre-straps*

Aaaand here’s the final product! The sides are a bit screwy so I might have to pin those to the underdress. I also did some embroidery on the bottom. I was hoping to do it on the top but I ran out of thread… But yeah! I finally finished it :D

Today I got a cotton gauze undertunic (gomleck), a blue paisley overcoat (kaftan) and a simple brown pair of pants done for my Gma.

From Sir Baelnorn, the kingdom regent:

Two announcements from the kingdom regent, Sir Baelnorn:

1. We are going to run another Iron Garber competition. The rules are simple. You will be provided various pieces of cloth. You then need to make a single piece of garb out of all the material you are given. Then the items will be judged. After the competition all the garb will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go into the kingdom general fund.

If you would like to participate please let me know, either in this thread or through a message. I need who is participating so I can purchase the right amount of cloth.

One thing we’d like to see is more people owning garb and to that end we will be providing a little more cloth than in the last Iron Garber to allow for more varied body types.

The cloth will be handed out on December 13th at Dragon’s Forge at our kingdom Mid-Reign.

The items must be turned back in no later than February 27th.

2. The monthly cooking competition. I’m sorry I’m a few days late with posting this month’s challenger so I will be making it a bit easier.

Food Type: Cookies Theme: Castles They will be judged at Dragon’s Forge on December 13th at our Kingdom Mid-Reign. Entries must be submitted by 2pm.

November Results: Lady Green with a lovely pecan pie. Score 8

I hope to see a lot more entries this time. Don’t worry if you feel like you’re to far behind. Remember, it’s about having fun and showing off your cooking/baking skills not so much about the competition.
