In My Life- The Beatles
Throwback Thursday continues with one of the greatest songs of all time, courtesy of John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles.
Hey Ladies….
Destiny's Child is back! One of the best R&B groups to date consisting of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams announced today that they are coming out with a new single called "Nuclear", their first song since 2004! Nuclear will appear on their compilation album titled "Love Songs" featuring 13 of their most sensational and romantic hits such as Cater 2 You and Say My Name. Check out the full track listing and more information about the album on their site: http://www.destinyschild.com/
On Top Of The World- Imagine Dragons
Imagine Dragons were a break-through band last year and really made a name for themselves with their highly successful album Night Visions. On Top of The World is a genuine feel good song off the album; whenever I feel down I just listen to this song and instantly feel better, I hope it does the same for you!
90's kids vs. 80's kids (ft. 9th Wonder)
I recently had a discussion with 9th Wonder via Twitter debating who had it better, 80's kids or 90's kids. Check out a little bit of our conversation in the photo above.
9th Wonder has produced for several well known artists including Drake, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Destiny's Child, and more. Love the guy, respect his work, but we can agree to disagree on this one.

Someday- The Strokes
"In many ways, they'll miss the good old days
Someday, someday.." Throwback Thursday
During his third show at Revel last night, Kanye went in on a freestyle/rant over the Clique instrumental and it's one of his best ones yet. In this freestyle, the overall theme is "niggas killing niggas" and Kanye voices some of the criticism he has to deal with daily such as wearing a "skirt" on stage.
In this same show, as you probably already know, Kanye announced through a freestyle over the Runaway instrumental that Kim Kardashian is pregnant. Watch the video here via @thefader
Charlie Brown- Coldplay
Charlie Brown and Coldplay, Coldplay and Charlie Brown. It doesn't get much better than that.
Rolling Stone- The Weeknd
Chill Sunday rolls on with Rolling Stone by The Weeknd.
1) Pyramids- Frank Ocean
"Set the cheetahs on the loose." This vague phrase that Frank Ocean tweeted on 30/November/2011 may have been a foreshadowing of Frank working on this track almost a year before its release!
It's not hard to tell that Frank put a lot of time into Pyramids, not only because it is nearly 10 minutes long, but the production is flawless. He takes you on a journey with his beautiful songwriting and his consistently changing flow, to match the diverse instrumental shifts, making the listener forget how long the track actually is. Indeed, a very interesting track and well worthy of the top spot on our list of the best songs of 2012.
2) Climax (Prod. Diplo)- Usher
Climax by Usher was a top 10 hit internationally in Belgium, UK and Scotland and a top 20 hit in the US. It has been called a "quiet storm slow jam" with obvious electronic influence and has been admired for its lyricism as well as the outstanding production.
Remember Diplo, that "crazy ass white dude that be everywhere"? He just so happened to produce this track for Usher. Upon its release, Diplo commented on Twitter: "Seriously the best record I've been part of ... I'm pretty sure in 9 months there are gonna be a lot of new babies that this song is responsible for"
3) Mercy- G.O.O.D. Music
The birth or re-birth of the word "swerve", the re-invention of swag, the coming out party for G.O.O.D. Music whatever you want to call it, Mercy was a game changer. There's not enough to say about this track; even if you hated Kanye or even the track at first, something about it is infectious.
Kanye has an uncanny ability to influence people around him and it shows through all the artists that he's worked with in his career. Their are many that hate him but it is undeniable the respect he demands in the music industry, I mean just look at the artists that are signed to his label! There was no question, 2012 was definitely G.O.O.D. Music's year.
4) Oblivion- Grimes
Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes, has been classified as everything from dream-pop to synth-pop to electronic but one thing that people can agree on is the urge one gets to listen to her music over and over again.
Oblivion is a perfect example; something about it is undeniably catchy and dreamy and makes you want to know the lyrics. So naturally you google the lyrics and find out how hauntingly creepy they are "I never walk alone after dark. . . . /Someone could break your neck/Coming up behind you and you'd never have a clue." So then, if you're like me, you ignore the lyrics, continue to enjoy the beautifully dreamy song and let Claire do her thing.
5) Swimming Pools (Drank)- Kendrick Lamar
Who made a bigger name for themselves in hip hop this year than K-dot? In October, Kendrick came out with his debut album good kid, mAAd city which has since received numerous positive reviews. He has been named by many as the savior of hip-hop.
This was his second single off the album and has been his "go-to" track whenever he gives a performance on award or television talk shows. Swimming Pools was one of the most beloved tracks of 2012 and it's obvious after this one that Kendrick is out to change hip hop for the better.
6) Ride- Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey was definitely one of the most blogged and talked about artists of 2012. After the release of her debut album, Born To Die, she received a lot of critical acclaim which increased the hype and anticipation for her next release.
Ride was a standout on her most recent release, Paradise EP, and shows off Lana's vocals beautifully. Some critics say Ride is Lana's stepping stone to the crossover of a more soulful-pop genre that is trademark of Adele. Needless to say, this isn't the last time we'll be hearing the name Lana Del Rey.
7) Thinking Bout You- Frank Ocean
Is it fair to say that Frank Ocean is one of the best R&B singers of our generation? After the release of his debut album Channel Orange that has been a topic for debate as of late.
Thinking Bout You was the first single off the album Channel Orange and has been Grammy nominated for Record of the Year. The track has been covered and remixed by numerous independent artists and it really blew up this year. Thinking Bout You lands at #7 on our list.
