So quick thing. There are people talking about how others shouldn't make their young inquisitors romance Solas. (Like early 20's sort of thing) because of the age difference and that he's old enough to be their dad. But. The thing is. He's lived for however long it's been since the ancient elves were around. So no matter what he would still be old enough to be their dad? If there's something I'm missing about this please explain it.

I can’t speak for the whole old enough to be their dad thing, because yeah solas is like 5000 years old. And also I don’t have a problem with younger lavellans (or inquisitors) dating solas (or the other romances), within reason of course. if you have a sixteen year old inquisitor eyeing cullen I’m going to Not and maybe you should question what you are trying to get out of that.

That said, from where I am in the fandom it’s not about “young” lavellans exactly when it comes to solavellan, rather it is the “lion and lamb” trope. The trope made popular by the twilight series (at least in my generation) and is basically that lavellan is so young and naive, so helpless and blindly in love with solas; that he has to lead her as the older, wiser man. And yes, the trope does tend to thrive in the younger lavellan fandom (among younger fans)

I Hate That Trope, not only because it is sickeningly disgusting on so many levels (again I get it comes from younger fans, I too am young. But we need to stop worshipping this trope that has the subliminal effect of older predatory men are hot and perfect for the young and inexperienced); but also because it is the Exact Opposite of what solavellan is.

solas is Not looking for a “child” to teach and instill knowledge in, he speaks to lavellan as an equal. he admits he sees her as his only true equal in a world of those he doesn’t understand. he loves lavellans who are wise, bold, and understanding. he loves to hear their ideals and thoughts, he calls them strong and graceful. matches them wit for wit. lavellan (at least as the first) is a woman full of knowledge, full of strength, and full of power.

what more a lot of people latch onto the “lion and lamb” trope because “oh! solas is the dread wolf and lavellan is symbolized by a halla”. which does a disservice to lavellan, the halla, and on a very (consciously) petty note to the dalish culture. halla are not to be fucked with, they are canonically a divine warrior creature, who have run through elven enemies with their antlers and trampled fools who dared tease them. They are deadly creatures (anyone whose seen a rampaging or hormonal deer knows what’s up), who could easily take down a lone wolf. That imagery leaves lavellan with the power, not without. lavellan and the halla are not prey facing a predator.

So yeah, from what I’ve seen it’s not the age but the fandom’s dynamic for it. But that’s just personally, from my view into the fandom.

Deer kill people. Prey animals are fierce and terrifying. Seriously. Look up "white tail deer attacks." Lavellan being portrayed as a halla is incredibly fitting. She is not a meek lil baby. She makes life and death decisions and is ferocious and commanding.

So! I was lucky enough to have been one of the first three people to order @right-in-the-vhenan special edition All New Faded For Her perfume!
First of all it came in a lovely green bag, gift box, and second cute bag with a silver leaf design. The bottle is gorgeous- a glass leaf with frosted veins, gold top, and green tassel. Most importantly however: the scent is absolutely amazing! I put some on right before work when the package arrived and the couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist because the smell is so fantastic ( I’m sure I looked plenty odd). The scent reminds me a bit of right-in-the-vhenan’s Elvhen Glory or Dalish scent but lighter? I would almost describe it as more floaty or dreamy comparatively ( … yes I realize that doesn’t make much sense but bear with me). If you like either Elvhen Glory or Dalish, I would highly recommend this perfume! I believe there is still one left?

Why are the only Latino/Spanish characters smugglers?!  Why are the typically coded Latino characters always the shifty shady bastard types?!  UGH damnit.  Like I’m sorta offended as a latina, but at the same time I cannot help but cringe at the forced fake Spanish accent from the VA for Reyes.  It’s not obvious but there are signs, indicators. Also, same voice actor that did Garrett & Malcom Hawke. 

That cheesy line “Consider me hacked.”  I heard in PurpleHawke’s doofus voice.

YEP I ROMANCED HIM was disappointed. His accent reminds me of Antonio Banderas.

Bioware has taken steps back in a LOT of stuff but this type of things needs some steps forward first.

I'm hearing a lot of bad shit about Andromeda romances and don't wanna play again.

Solas’ Plan to merge the fade and the regular world again doesn’t make sense to me at all. He saw what a disaster the separation of the two caused, and still he wants to do it all over again?! It’s a great setup for the next game, but still… Kinda inconsistent!

I've grown to hate him. He sees Thedas as disabled. Not people. As amusing as it would be to watch mage haters suddenly have magic, magic isn't a punishment.

I have some feelings on this, and honestly, when I realized this, I started crying. Solas is the type of person I have been fighting against in my advocacy.

okay, so, in light of bioware’s plans (as of 4/4) to make improvements to male romance options for a male ryder, i thought i’d make as succinct a reference as i could for known issues in MEA regarding its treatment of queer men, both inside and out of romances. this is by no means every single post on the subject, but it should be enough to give anyone a rundown of what’s up. (i link to my own twitter threads a lot, because they’re basically my notes at this point, so heads up for that.) (sorry.)

and as a disclaimer: i may have missed some things, but i’ll be honest with y’all, after this i really do not want to talk about this anymore, especially publicly. i am hurt, i am exhausted, i’ve been run ragged by this. i made this post as clear-cut as i could and hopefully it’s a helpful resource, but as of me posting it, i just don’t want to be involved anymore. i don’t have the energy to feel this bad all the time (seriously, i’ve been talking about this for. a long, long, time) and i’d like to just move away from bioware from here as much as i can and go back to trying to be positive and support voices i feel have done well, instead of harping on this. hopefully this is helpful, but i have to tap out.

Every creator, white or PoC, has the responsibility to ensure that their cast is both racially diverse enough to reflect our world without further promoting racism. I’m done playing nice on this issue. Other people have different opinions on where biracial kids fit in the grand scheme of racial discourse. And if this is bait I am out of fucks to give after more than a solid week of this bullshit. Let me be clear on my stance:
