“I’m glad you think so.” He calls back with thinly veiled amusement. There’s a shine in his eyes, beckoning the young man to come closer, take him on if he dared. The Director was in for a good fight today, and he knew it.
He blocked the raven haired SOLDIER’s attack to his right, silently admiring the usage of his own advice against him. Zack learned quick.
Good.
A few of those blows landed, but he continued to counter, mentally listing off the ways to throw his newly acquired sparring partner in a loop. Rarely did he ever find a fight that gave him a run for his money, after spending tireless hours training rookies who barely made the cut. He’d seen an endless crop of muscled teenage boys in what they viewed as their peak, only to tap out the moment he knocked them to the ground, arms twisted behind their back.
This one was different. This wasn’t someone with the heart of a Turk. Fair was much too pure to dabble in the things they resigned themselves to doing. He was energetic, passionate in all that he did.
It was much too hard to find that quality nowadays.
The Director kicks out, abandoning the introspection in favor of testing Zack’s limits.
