THERE IS ONLY ONE GIRL IN THE PROPHECY
Many people have interpreted that these images depict different heroes. With the first one depicting Susie as the last hero, with her rude buster, as named in the game files, while the second hero is actually Noelle being able to wield swords like her christmas pencil or the Black Shard.
But reading these images, and seeing what they depict tells us a very different story.
Getting straight to the point, these are both talking about The Girl. By definition, the word "the" in these instances implies that there is a single Girl. Of course, both Kris and the Knight are both Knights, but Kris is not *The* Knight. The problem is that if The Girl is a title akin to The Knight, then both the second and "last" hero share the same title. The Second Hero is The Girl *coma*, with hope crossed on her heart. She is not a or the one girl with hope in her heart, she is THE Girl, who also has hope in her heart. This isn't even getting into how the Second Hero and the three heroes image both depict a girl very much like Susie, who looks nothing like Noelle. We can tell she doesn't have a hoodie either.
It's entirely possible the Prophecy is wrong. But my point is that even if the images are adapted to fit the current version of the prophecy, the prophecy was never written with the intention of having two distinct Girls. It's likely the first image I showed is tied to a later event we lack the context of. After all, Alvin and Gerson do say there are good chunks of the prophecy missing. The same goes with the Second Hero with a sword and the whole Susie being able to wear ribbons in theory. In regards to the latter point, Susie can wear a ribbon in the Ch 3 minigames, even if she doesn't consent to it.
UNDERTALE AND DELTARUNE'S TWIN TIMELINE
Heyyy this is a quick half baked theory on how UT and DR's timeline and birthdates can still match up somewhat.
So, Chara fell at the end of 201X.
How much time has passed between Chara's death and Undertale?
Well, Alphys says we should've told her how much of a baddie Toriel is at the end of pacifist.
That means that if Alphys is at least 18, then at least 12 years. So 2022 at least.
Alphys mentions how she built Mettaton's body "a long time ago". In English, a few years means something along the lines of both little time and at least three years. So Mettaton's body was built at least 4 to 5 years ago. And that's being generous.
Given how it's likely Alphys has never seen a human before, then this means ever since she became scientist or earlier, no human was around. Ergo, 12 + 4 years = 16 years at minimum. 2026 at least.
We also also know UT takes place in summer thanks to the green fire girl realizing it was summer vacation and not a school day. This places UT at the very beggining or end of summer vacation for the mistake to be somewhat reasonable. So June 2026 at the very very least.
We know Deltarune likely takes place in 202X thanks to the unused manual.
We also have a calendar NOBODY TALKS ABOUT in church. In it, the month starts on the fourth day if the week, which in the US is Wednsday.
We also know Deltarune takes place in fall because of an obscure japenese magazine and just general in-game implications.
Thus, the available dates in the 2020s is this:
September/December 2021
November 2023
October 2025
Sep/Dec 2027
Nov 2028
Given how MK is older, under this theory only 2027 and 2028 are reasonable dates.
Thus, if UT takes place in 2026 or 2027, and Deltarune in 2027 or 2028, the theory can work.
The most obvious and important hole is Asriel's age, but given how Gerson lives for centuries, and Asriel's age is different from normal mons in UT, ie aging because of his parent's SOULs, his age can easily just change in a slower pace than most monsters and humans.

Retrospective on UNDERTALEâs Popularity
Though it was released almost a year ago, I have the same opinion of it.
Itâs about an 8/10, niche RPG game.
If you like the characters and the humor, youâll probably like it, and forgive it for its flaws.
If you donât, youâll probably hate it.
Surprisingly, there are many people who like this type of game. Though I did work hard, thereâs definitely a lot of luck involved in having a game become this popular. So, it wouldnât surprise me if I never made a game as successful again. Thatâs fine with me though.
Not only did I not expect this level of popularity, but initially, I was afraid of it. I didnât want UNDERTALE to become tiring for people, or become spoiled before anyone even got a chance to play it. Early on (this was probably excessive) I even tried to contact certain Letâs Players to tell them not to make any content about it.
But, the game became very popular. Unavoidable, even. At the height of its popularity, ânot liking the gameâ felt like a cardinal sin to many fans online. In reaction to these circumstances, others began actively hate the game, creating an endless whirlwind of discourseâŠ
Like a thunderclap to a small dog, all of this attention stressed me out. And every time it seemed to die down, something revived it, such as the GameFAQs contest, the award shows, bizarre theory videos, and so on. At times, I wished I had a way to quell the attention. I felt a strange powerlessness. (And guilt, for feeling stressed when the success of the game SHOULD be something Iâm nothing but ecstatic about.)
At the same time, countless wonderful things were happening. People told me the game helped them through a difficult part of their life. Others told me that the game had made them laugh, or cry, or say âI want to be kinder.â Many young kids told me they wanted to create games or music because of it. And, on a personal level, because of its popularity, I have been able to help myself and many people in my life. (And, hopefully, in the future, I can help many other people because of it, too.)
So, ultimately, itâs a good thing that the game reached so many people, and Iâm very, very, very, very, very, very, thankful to everyone that supported it, and everyone that helped me make it.
Thank you.
And thank you to anyone who has created fanworks for this game over the past year. Iâve been in fandoms my whole life. I drew Cave Story characters in the margins of my 7th grade history class notes. So itâs amazing to see something I created incite a similar passion in other people.
Someday, UNDERTALE will fade from peopleâs minds. But, Iâm sure in 10 years, some kid who played UNDERTALE will create a game that surpasses itâŠ
I look forward to playing that.
Tomorrow, on UNDERTALEâs anniversary, letâs have a fun time. I am thinking I will open the askbox, andâŠ
Bark.
Son Orb, as well as Son Loaf, and such other iconic iterations, are literally Dan's son, whose Soul got put into a doll in order to make viral videos.
What do you think happened to him?
Just, dissapeared into thin air?
Why do you think Dan acts the way he does to an inanimate object he created, which can also apparently TALK on it's own?
The only real thing Dan likes about his son is that he can use him for CONTENT. His HAWK TUAH.
It seems as if "Dong" didn't WANT to take part in whatever madness Dan put him into, and well, you know how Dan gets sometimes.....

This is a comprehensive screenshot collection of all dialogue seen in Undertale, including lines only seen in debug. The ultimate resource for all those interested, this collection is organized by areas in the game.
Within each area folder, there is a folder for overworld and a second folder for monster encounters.
1. Area  1. Overworld.  2. Monster Encounters
Within each Overworld folder, the content is divided by Neutral, Genocide, and Pacifist. Each folder then divides the content by rooms. 1. Overworld  1. Neutral    1. First Room  2. Genocide  3. Pacifist
In each room folder, there may be more divisions based on choices or conditions in the game. After all, choices and variables can affect dialogue.
Within each Monster Encounters folder, the content is divided by monsters. Each folder then divides the content by type of dialogue from the battle. 2. Monster Encounters  1. Dummy    1. Encounter    2. ACTs    3. Flavor Text    4. Quotes    5. You Win
Throughout the Overworld and Monster Encounter folder are special âXâ folders that denote special conditions, or otherwise miscellaneous moments within a part of the game.
Aside from Area folders, there is also a folder for Miscellaneous that contains folders of special or unique content, such as Camera Locations, Charaâs Red Text, and Debug Only Rooms. Some of this content may be duplicated from other folders.
This resource is not intended to be a replacement for playing the game. It is highly encouraged and suggest that you play through the game at least once to know the flow of the game before viewing this comprehensive resource!

THE UNDERTALE'S CAST CONNECTION TO THE SEVEN TRAITS
Y'know, the debate about wether or not the main bosses of Deltarune follow any pattern made me think about Undertale. Do THEY follow any pattern ?
My first thought went onto the seven human traits, given how it would be unlikely to include them if they didn't have any sort of thematic importance to the story. But of course, there wasn't much to link them together until I replayed Undertale pacifist a couple years ago and found this:
The way the lost souls are ordered is very weird, yet incredibly specific. It does connect to the way their encounters play put in game, if you look at it from bottom to top, then right, then bottom again. (Toriel to Undyne to Alphys to Asgore). But why....?
Well, for funsies, I thought to myself, hey! What if I connected this to the way the human SOULs appear in Flowey's battle?
This makes
Undyne-Kindness Alphys-Justice
Papyrus-Integrity Sans-Perseverence
Toriel-Patience Asgore-Bravery
The first three match up PERFECTLY with their SOUL modes. The chances of this happening are 1 in 24. Toriel and Asgore match with the two that AREN'T. And Sans...
Sans is very notable for his lack of perseveranvce, he even states in his fight that "perseverance will give you no benefit whatsoever". And yet he uses the BLUE SOUL.
I honestly think this is because he's Papyrus' brother and nothing else. When you fight Undyne in geno, kindness is not a trait that can apply to you anymore, so let's not overanalyze that.
As a matter of fact, you DO show perseverance to Sans throught the entire pacifist route, remarking how in your position, he would have already stopped trying, but still cheers you on anyways.
Given all this, I believe that the main monsters are based on the LACK of traits. So let's check one by one...
Undyne represents a lack of kindness.
She's brash, and she does not want to reason with you until the very end when she herself gets tired and you show an act of mercy by pouring some water on her. Easy like that.
Alphys represents a lack of Justice, and so does Mettaton...
This was a bit difficult to solve, but it becomes clear once you realize the common theme between Alphys and Mettaton: the truth, or more actively, hiding it. Alphys wants to hide the fact that she fused monsters together into entities that are in pain just by existing, so her friends don't leave her behind, so that she can run from the consequences. She doesn't eant to be judged.
She doesn't believe she deserves to be loved, or in the position as grand as the Royal Scientist (granted, that last idea actually has some merit, but never the less)
You bring Alphys Justice not by killing her or avenging her, but by letting her know how much she's worth. Her biggest tormentor was herself, after all.
Yes, this could showcase a lack of bravery as well, but as you'll see, she showcases more bravery in paz than Asgore in general.
Mettaton hides the truth from Napstablook throught the entire game until likely after getting to the surface. Why?
Because they didn't want to be seen as the lame ghost of the Blookyfarm (as well as body dysmorphia), so he ran away without telling anything to Napstablook, making them the lone owner of the family business. He doesn't want to be judged.
Being injust doesn't mean you're evil, but rather that you're treating someone unfairly. Undyne does fit this, but it's compensated by her own rationale: the humans trapped her underground, as well as tens of thousands of other monsters, so they deserve to be punished. Justice is her main goal, even if it isn't viewed from Frisk's side.
Mettaton is also quite self-centered, seeing himself as superior to others, demonstrated by how he treats Burgerpants especially, as well as how he acts on TV, always wanting to sell MTT brand products.
So in his fight, you're doing justice by letting him know that he's not the only one who can protect humanity, and that he has people that care about him and needs to get closer again, no longer being a celebrity God, but a friend.
...I know what I said is a stretch, but that doesn't change the 1 in 24 chance of this being random. Let's move on.
Papyrus represents a lack of integrity.
According to Wikipedia, integrity is "the quality of being honest and having a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values."
The thing about Papyrus' arc is that he has a moral dilemma: be friends with the human, or obey Undyne and capture them, and become the royal guard he always wanted to be. It's silly, but this is exactly what lacking integrity means, since he questions whether to give up his dream and disobeying the royal guard whom he has close to his heart.
You show integrity by showing him a much stronger moral to stand by: treating humans like friends, or at least equally like monsters.
Toriel represents a lack of patience.
The thing about Toriel is that she jumps *right in* to being your mother. She has to wait throught the ENTIRE game to fulfill that wish, as well as actually meet you again. Ironically, one of the first things she asks you is to wait for her to return, which turns out is useless. Patience also ties into how you spare her: by constantly sparing her, forcing Toriel to confront her mistakes instead of acting out of impulse. There's also the fact that she has waited for God knows how long for a human to fall, and she literally can't wait anymore because this is the LAST human before the barrier breaks. I would also like to mention that Toriel left Asgore in a fit of anger, so that might connect too.
Asgore represents the lack of bravery.
At first I thought he also represented a lack of integrity, but that's not really true. He *did* keep his word. Even if he didn't want to, he waited for all seven humans to fall so that he could absorb them and break the barrier. The thing is, he's a coward. He never told his true stances on humanity in order to keep monster's hopes up, to have a positive future to look up to, but there could be other reasons too. If you killed a certain amount of monsters but spared Toriel, she gets overthrown. Asgore is in a very similar circumstance, the humans killed the benevolent monster prince, there's no way they were going to let Asgore get away with sparing humans. That being said, he's ready for you to kill him and abandon this mortal plane in order to escape his duty.
Basically, Asgore *is* a coward, but not necessarily in a bad way, minus the self-destructive thoughts. He's more of a coward than Alphys because Alphys DOES try to fight her issues, even if it takes her a while, while Asgore never truly gets rid of his cowardice. I hope we get more of him in Deltarune....
Finally, we show bravery by fighting him after acting with mercy in the pacifist route. This is also the exact opposite way we beat Toriel in paz by sparing repeatedly.
And finally, the TRUE reason I started writing this:
Flowey/Asriel represent the lack of the red trait.
...What IS the red trait?
Well, if this theory is correct, then it should hypothetically be what Asriel/Flowey lacks. And, well, Asriel spells it out for us.
Love.
But is there any ACTUAL evidence for thid theory?
Well, yes, actually... There's a ton that directly connects the Red SOUL to Love outside this theory
This dialogue is probably the single best evidence for this theory I've ever seen, and the most damning piece of evidence for the red SOUL trait in general as a whole.
To state the obvious, our SOUL is a fiery red cartoony human-heart. And that is Love, so that's it. But there's more, because in the Ball Game we gain more information on the red trait as a whole. You see, if you get RED twice, it'll say:
RED - Try as you might, you continue to be yourself.
So Love is tied to being oneself, which is perfect when we again consider WHAT made Asriel become Flowey. What Flowey LACKS. Well, I already told you, Love. Asriel even compares these concepts explicitly.
"I'll stop being "myself"."
"I'll stop feeling love again."
There's also even more evidence in the Valentine 2024 Newsletter, where Love was again represented in Red Hearts, and in the Valentine special video Love was highlighted in red. Also, in Chapter 3, the second board, if you wait long enough on the large horn *things*, four of them will go in circles in pairs, with red hearts popping up above them indicating they've found a mate. Also, on the Love Island, there's a single red tree that when interacted triggers a rainbow animation for all the trees of the Island. To further hammer this point home, Underbound 2 says Frisk must use the power of love to save the world.
Of course, Love also ties to Frisk and Chara too.
LV ties into Chara directly since they date they are the representation of LOVE, among other things. Also, Asriel said they HATED humanity, so that could tie in, too.
Frisk ties moreso to Love, given how the pacifist route seems like the one they resonate the more with, to the point Asriel's battle is the ONLY ONE they RE-FUSE. This route is also the one where we learn Frisk's name. Would like to mention how the pacifist route has the "Still just you, Frisk" line in the mirror, while geno has the iconic "It's me, Chara".
Well, that's it. Took me many months because I am very lazy. Oh well.
UT/DR THEORY: HOW THE HUMAN SHIRTS MARK PURPOSE
.....So, have you ever wondered why Kris wears a Chara shirt ? Some of you might think it's obviously because Kris *IS* Chara. Others might say it's just a red herring or it's to signify how, one way or another, Kris is a fusion of Frisk and Chara. After all, Kris is the Dark World has Frisk's colors, as opposed to the Light World !
The thing is, Kris isn't the only human we're shown in Deltarune, we have another.
The vessel.
And interestingly enough, they have TWO stripes, like Frisk. Making a nice symetry between our vessel and Kris. That's nice !
Actually, it kinda reminds me that the vessel is our puppet, kinda how Frisk was.
Perhaps they may even be the true human hero.
Note that "Kris" isn't called by name.
And Kris seems to be in Chara's shoes.
...but there's more to this than that. Because the vessel isn't somebody we created, at least not fully.
When Gaster asks us to tell him how we feel about our vessel, he notes that it will not hear. Why should be worried about that ? Unless the vessel has a mind of it's own. A mind I very much believe we already met, in a different time.
Time and time again, they will appear.
No matter when.
No matter where.
The demon that comes when we call it's name.
Fun fact: the Vessel specifically has a max letter name of *9*, Chara's favorite number !, While your name can go up to 12 letters.
So, the vessel is the "Chara" of Deltarune. I would go as far to say that they ARE Chara. Why do I think this?, Well, I would like to bring attention towards the RED trait:
If Chara IS the demon that comes when you call it's name, then they are ALWAYS that demon. So when you name the vessel, you are ALWAYS calling Chara. The only way this can happen is if the Vessel is the Deltarune version of Chara.
But the problem is that KRIS already has Chara traits like affinity for knives, chocolate, and the focus of this post: their shirt. And the vessel has a shirt simiar to Frisk as well. . .
These two humans are mixes of Frisk and Chara in one way or another. So.... What traits are with who ?
Well, let's start with the shirts. Because there's something else I want to bring to the table. You see... There's another (?) human that is key to this point, one that most people don't like to talk about.
This THING. "chara", in the files.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn't Kris, as the skin is not similar. At least not Deltarune's incarnation of them. They are ALSO not beta Frisk, given how Frisk already had their design back when the demo released. And this is ALSO not beta Chara, given how Chara's design appeared as a mistake Temmie made early on, when she drew Frisk with one stripe.
This human is not a mistake. In all likelyhood, this was intentionally hidden for people to find in the files, much like Entry 17.
They only appear in debug as a reflection... And have a two striped shirt, like the vessel and Frisk. A literal reflection of them. I believe they are THE VESSEL, and by extention, Deltarune Chara. A younger version of them, pre-gonered. Although, they do seem to have no facial features, much like our goner. The difference in skin color and hair color can very much be explained by the possibility that Chara spent quite a while living in a cave deprived of sunlight, as well as the fact that the way they appeared in geno is supposed to look like a corpse.
This Chara has traits that Frisk has in Undertale, but which?
This becomes obvious once you realize what Frisk's role was in that game, being the player's puppet, as well as the possible hero of the underground.
We outright designed the Vessel to be whatever we choose, and to be the main character of the story, before being discarded. As I've already pointed out, there's a good chance our goner is the actual human hero, while Kris is...
What IS Kris, anyway ? They must fulfill whatever role Chara had in UT, although Kris doesn't enjoy the weird route at all, so they don't represent the LV part of Chara. So what OTHER role did Chara have, that would be connected to Frisk's role one way or another?
I think Chara is the Narrator.
(Graph made by the ever brilliant @under-lore)
I understand if this theory sounds flimsy but it's not. As we can see here, the narrator PROGRESSES along with Frisk during the entirety of the game. Why would Toby put a bunch of insults in the narration, only for him to progressivly make them more infrequent until Snowdin, if not for NarraChara?
There's also THIS, in which the narrator DIRECTLY asks Frisk if they didn't laugh, after almost ranting about laughing until tears start forming. Where did this come from, if not from an entity that is neither Frisk nor us ?
The narrator very likely isn't just a representation of the game or smth given how it still shows signs of having it's own personality, like with the fact that the text you get by hitting with hitting the dummy with higher LV stops using "you", and says things like "Feels good" or "Who cares?", as well as the show puff descriptions, ending with the narrator sarcastingly asking us what they even are, or the licorice flavored candy, etc.
A bunch of the stuff Chara shouldn't know already is a thing even without NarraChara, given that you NEED to kill Snowdrake in order for geno to continue, even if you've never encountered him. Or how Chara can still feel how many monsters are left in Waterfall....
So, for the sake of this theory, CHARA is the narrator in UT. But there's a problem, and it's that DR doesn't have a diagetic narrator. So, how DOES this role of Chara's translate into Kris...?
Well, we need to think of something more broad, thematically coherent with Frisk's original role...
What about, let's say, a STORYTELLER ?
Dark fountains are allegories for fiction, so however creates them is, in a way, a writer. With this in mind, it's clear that Kris HAS this role, not just of the creator of chapter 3's dark fountain, but as the ROARING KNIGHT themself.
Now, this DOES bring up an issue. I've said that the VESSEL is our puppet, while Kris has another role. How then, is Kris NOT our puppet ? They even parallel Spamton!
Well, Kris IS our puppet, in a sense, but not our true puppet. This is because we don't have as much control over them as you might think. We can't stop Kris from saving Susie. We can't stop Kris from taking out our SOUL. It's only through Noelle that our choices matter. Everything else has little consequence, and cannot project ourselves into them as much as we'd like.
There's also somethimg very peculiar. The upcoming Twisted Sword LOWERS the Trance effect. The same effect that Noelle had in the weird route. Why ? It doesn't seem as if Kris actually LIKED the massacre at all, so this isn't lowering THEIR trance. In the other hand, if the Vessel DOES represent the LV part of Chara, either because if Kris didn't represent it, then it would, or just because it IS Chara, then you would already have no problem with grinding darkners. Unless, the trance effect lowers for... Us?
Think about it, we are effectivly reduced to spectators in the normal route, having many of our own decisions denied, simply following what others want. Kris is a puppet to us, but we may as well be a puppet to not just Kris, but the world. Perhaps by being in Kris' body we have this effect, and the clashing wills cancel each other.
So the Vessel is Chara in the pupeteer role that Frisk had in UT, and if you couldn't guess it, I believe Kris is Frisk in the storyteller role Chara had in UT.
There's one thing I've HAVE to talk about before I end this post.
This is the description of "Important Person (Kris)'s Shirt"
How could this tie into the theory..?
Perhaps, their love could be referring to the stories they make become yours. In a way, UT becomes a story in which killing monsters is encouredged, given how the supposedly objective narrator starts going off the rails and counting how many victims are left, even if they have regrets regarding the Dreemurr family.
In Deltarune, the perspective shifts yet again, and the Cyber World starts having frozen traffic lights even before Noelle freezes her first puzzle. The weird route alters Kris' story, to the point Lancer and Roulx Kaard turn to stone much earlier than they're supposed to.
To be blunt, this is the weakest point for the theory, and has stronger connections with the puppet role anyways. Unless the pattern isn't just referring to Chara and Kris, but Frisk and the Vessel as well. We'll see.
UT/DR THEORY: HOW THE HUMAN SHIRTS MARK PURPOSE
.....So, have you ever wondered why Kris wears a Chara shirt ? Some of you might think it's obviously because Kris *IS* Chara. There's two options here: either these roles are based on their respective routes, and/or their role in UT in general. Let me explain: the only route in which Chara actively appears and interacts with Undertale's world is in genocide, the route where you increase ALL of the stats that Chara represents, and the mirror narration compares you to them with "It's me, Chara", as opposed to "Still just you, Frisk" in pacifist. In geno, Chara erases the world, while in pacifist, you take the role of hero. Do you see where I'm going with this? This could parallel how the Vessel is the hero, and how Kris might just cover the world in darkness one way or another.
There's also the other option, which plays on the role the humans have throught the entire game. Frisk's role was being the player's puppet, and we outright designed the Vessel to be whatever we choose, and to be the main character of the story, before being discarded. As I've already pointed out, there's a good chance our goner is the actual human hero, while Kris is must fulfill whatever role Chara had in UT, although Kris doesn't enjoy the weird route at all, so they don't represent the LV part of Chara.
In a way, UT no mercy becomes a story in which killing monsters is encouredged, given how the supposedly objective narrator starts going off the rails and counting how many victims are left, even if they have regrets regarding the Dreemurr family.
There's also a much simpler explanation: it is tied to their main trait: LOVE. Basically, Papyrus implies in a phone call in Hotland in elevator L3 that Love is a cartoony fiery red human heart, so that makes me think that Love is the Red trait, which as I've already mentioned is associated with being oneself. Therefore, this could be saying that what makes you you, and what makes Kris them, becomes indistinguishible. As well as stating that Kris' relationships become yours.
What "Neo" Means and How We Can Solve Half of Deltarune With it
This theory written in collaboration with a pair of Discord friends, Mr. Dill and RedactedTimes.
Image ID: A screenshot of dialogue from the GIGA Queen battle, in which Queen says that âFocusing Into Her Blade, [Noelle] Will Create A Neo Dark Fountainâ
So, what IS a âNeo Dark Fountain,â anyway?
âNeoâ is an actual word, and in English, itâs a combining form- a word that only exists as part of other words, never by itself. Itâs in neoplatonic, neotropical, neogene, nearctic, and more. It describes something that is new or recent in an abnormal, or alien. Itâs a word taken from Greek, and it means "new" in that language, too. So, a âNeo Dark Fountainâ would be a Dark Fountain that is ânew,â possibly weird and strange. Thatâs⊠not a very helpful description, is it? Perhaps we could figure out more details by examining what Dark Fountains are and what they represent. Dark Fountains are geysers that turn their surroundings into fictionalized versions of themselves; nearly everything in its reach is changed- Lightners are given the abilities theyâve always wanted and fantasy outfits to match, and objects are transformed either into new items like swords, candy, and charms, or into sentient Darkners with their own thoughts and desires who serve to perpetuate the fantasy that this world creates⊠Usually.
Theyâre clearly being presented as a form of escapism; so far, every Lightner whoâs entered a Dark World has greatly enjoyed their adventures within and has clearly expressed a desire for more- Kris opens their own, Noelle and Berdly almost do the same, and Susie wonders whether or not the creation of these Fountains is necessarily a bad thing just before the sealing of the Cyber World Fountain. Though, letting Darkness overtake Light is incredibly dangerous due to the fact that too many Dark Fountains existing at once will cause âThe Roaring,â a cataclysmic event characterized by earthquakes, storms, and massive, enigmatic beings called Titans, who are purported to serve only to cause meaningless chaos and destruction, though I would be surprised if their existence really is that simple- but letâs not get sidetracked.
If Dark Fountains turn fiction into reality, then do Neo Dark Fountains create neo fiction? What IS âneo fiction?â New fiction? Well, that isnât a far-fetched concept. In the real world, weâre finding more and more ways to blend reality and fiction together, with things like virtual reality and augmented reality, and computer-generated graphics becoming more and more advanced to create things that look real, but arenât. Thatâs what neo fiction is- fiction that is more ârealâ than fiction, something thatâs bridging the gap between fiction and reality and causing the line to become unclear. A Neo Dark World is not something thatâs MORE abstracted than reality- that would mean that Queen wants to create a world thatâs even further away from the Lightners she craves to please, which doesnât make sense. The Neo Dark Fountains she planned to open with Noelle would instead create a world thatâs LESS abstracted, one thatâs closer to reality, in which Darkners are less distinguishable from Lightners and more free to do what they want. Queen would be free to create her supreme empire and enslave Lightners because sheâd no longer be trapped in the confines of the Cyber World.
Will we ever explore a Neo Dark World? Well⊠We might have already. Castle Town could be one. Itâs a world where everyone, whether Light or Dark, can live relatively ordinary lives with each other, a stable fantasy that you can enjoy for as long as you like without consequence. In a normal Dark World, Lightners are railroaded into an adventure with a clear beginning and end to the fantasy, but in the Neo Dark World, you can simply live a normal life with fantastical elements, as though youâre a character in a show. Itâs closer to neo fiction than fiction, something with no clear beginning or end, something that you could mistake for reality if you stayed inside for long enough and had enough Darkners to populate it. So, what does that make Ralsei, its sole native inhabitant? He is aware of his fictional nature, knows things about the Light World and about the mechanics of the world itself, and he can travel between different Dark Worlds without turning to stone or needing to be carried around by a Lightner, so can you really say that he is as âfakeâ as other Darkners? Heâs blurring the line between reality and fiction so that it is hard to tell which one he is- he is likely a âNeoner.â
We have also visited scattered, more disconnected fragments of the Neo Dark World in the form of the Rooms In Between, the âEgg Rooms.â The reason the Eggs remain completely constant between the Light and Dark Worlds and the reason The Man can appear in both worlds is because theyâre Neo Dark in origin. The Chapter 1 Room In Between is even referred to internally as the âChapter 1 Neo Ruins.â If you REALLY wanted to stretch things, you could even say that âIn Betweenâ is referring to its Neo state- "between fiction and reality-" but that is admittedly flimsier. The question of why theyâre âRuinsâ is something more difficult to answer, though easy to speculate on. They could be remnants of a Neo Dark World opened and then sealed in the past, or they could be within the same Neo Dark World as Castle Town somehow and be âruinsâ of a previous civilization in some strange way.
Image ID: A look at âroom_man_ch1,â or The Manâs room from Deltarune: Chapter 1 in Game Maker. The single tile used for the roomâs floor is named âbg_neoruins_ch1â by the field labeled âdefinition,â and Game Maker lists each individual instance of its usage within the room as âTile ######## of bg_neoruins_ch1.â
Another potential Neoner weâve already met is Everyman, a being that appears in both the Light and Dark World in Easter Eggs and easy-to-miss cameos. You could even theorize that Ice-E is a Neoner stalking Noelle across worlds, if you choose to believe that the story of https://deltarune.com/icee/ is real. Maybe itâs even possible for a Lightner or Darkner to BECOME a Neoner, to ascend (if a Darkner) or descend (if a Lightner) to a state of existence in-between. With Undertaleâs Humans and Monsters being able to absorb each othersâ souls to become more powerful, some kind of plot about Darkners trying to become ârealâ and becoming Neoners makes lots of sense- itâs already happened with Spamton becoming Spamton NEO and trying to break his strings. It seems very likely that the further into the game we get, the closer the Secret Bosses will get to becoming truly Neo, until we must finally battle a Neoner in Chapter 7. https://deltarune.com/chair/ could be a demonstration of an object becoming a Neo object when exposed to the aura of a Neo Dark Fountain- Neo is the âdarker than dark.â
Hey, actually, speaking of Spamton, remember this line from his shop dialogue?
SPEAKING OF [[Communion]], KRIS, DID YOU KNOW THAT THE KNIGHTâŠ
Spamtonâs ascension to âNEOâ has plenty of religious imagery, such as his obsession with [H E A V E N], ascending with the power of a Lightnerâs hopes and dreams (imbued into the NEO Robot), Spamton NEO having an appearance vaguely resembling classical angels, and him falling to the ground and losing his wings after the Delta Warriors try to help him break free from his destiny. Itâs not a far-off assumption that ascension to Neonerhood in general will have religious imagery in future examples, which makes Spamton relating âCommunionâ and Neo to the Knight very interesting. Is the Roaring Knight a Neoner? If they were a Darkner who became a Neoner, they may want to bring the joy of reality and Neoner-hood to all Darkners or try to find a way to become a fully-fledged Lightner, while if they were a Lightner who became a Neoner, they could be trying to REPLACE the normal Light Worldâs reality with the more fantastical and fun Dark and/or Neodark World for either the sake of others or for their own fulfillment.
The final topic this theory will touch is a bit less connected to the initial topic- the definition of âNEOâ and why it matters to Deltarune- but is still worth discussing: Why does Jevil call out âTHE TRUE AND NEO CHAOS!â during his FINAL CHAOS?
Image ID: Jevilâs final attack, his âFINAL CHAOSâ or âTRUE AND NEO CHAOS.â Many of Jevilâs scythes rain down from above and strike the ground, creating pillars of light.
Devilâs Knives rain from the sky one after another, creating powerful beams shooting skyward. They fall more and more rapidly as the attack progresses until the beams fill the sky, and the attackâs end is signaled by a loud tremor⊠Doesnât that sound familiar? It would seem that Jevilâs FINAL CHAOS could be interpreted as a metaphor for how the Roaring begins. Itâs a âTrue and Neo Chaosâ because itâs a brand new chaos unlike anything the world has ever seen before, a chaos the likes of which have never been seen before and will never be seen again. The extra-large Devilâs Knife that accompanies the attackâs end may be trying to say that the straw that will break the camelâs back will be the opening of a second Neo Dark Fountain.
A Neo Dark Fountain can be assumed to create more and purer Darkness than a normal Dark Fountain due to the nature of the worlds it creates, like the difference between opening a normal geyser and opening a giant spout that destroys the around it due to the force with which the water rushes out. Maybe Castle Town is stable because the one who opened it (Knight or not) knows lots about the Dark World and how it works and thus knew how to open it safely?
So, to summarize all the major points:
Since "Neo" means new and Dark Fountains create fiction, the Neo Dark Fountains that Queen mentions create "neo fiction," which can be defined as fiction that's more immersive and less distinguishable from reality. They would likely be much more intense and difficult to safely open due to the density and purity of the Darkness within. Castle Town may be a Neo Dark World due to its stable, easygoing environment, and Ralsei is likely a "Neoner" due to his ability to move between worlds without issue, his uncanny knowledge of the world's mechanics, and his implied self-awareness. We will likely see Darkners trying to become "Neoners" and thus more real, primarily in the Secret Boss quest, as a logical continuation of Spamton's quest to become a real boy. Jevil's FINAL CHAOS can be interpreted as a metaphor for the Roaring, and Spamton relating the Knight to [[Communion]] may be foreshadowing that the Knight is a Neoner.
Every 5000 years, the terrible Nightmare Knight returns to terrorize the world of Dreamside. And every time, a Legendary Hero will appear to fight the Nightmare Knight. Every time until now, that fight probably sounded like this. mp3
Megalo Strikes Back - I Miss You - Earthbound 2012 From the collaborative EarthBound fan-album I was a part of a while back. Clearly callback to the final boss theme in the original game, in both instrumentation and structure. Iâm not as good at writing dissonant, alien metal, so I took a more melodic approach, integrating the low-intensity NES section into the rest of the song instead of dropping it once the guitars kick in. The melodic section is a little bit inspired by Malcolm Brownâs Rex Duodecim Angelus. I snuck in some warping, pitch-bended bass notes like the original did. See if you can hear them at 1:09-1:15. Another little musical detail that Iâm proud of is that I managed to re-use the sample from the guitar solo that plays on the opening Gas Station screen of the game. The name is clearly a shout-out to Mother 2âs original subtitle: âGyiyg Strikes Back!â Itâs also a reference to Megalovania, the other boss song I made using EarthBound instrumentation for a ROM Hack I created during my junior year of High School.
So cool
I'm starting to think Walt Jr isn't Walt's biological son.
Skyler has golden hair.
Walter has brown hair.
Flynn has Black hair.
Because black hair is the most dominant gene, his father must have black hair.
Thus, Walter is not Flynn's real father.
Not that he was a good one anymore.
Tl;dr
She fucked Ted
Breaking Bad Fact #20
Mike from Mike and Melissa is actually the same character as Mike from Breaking Bad.
